Chapter 74 Mr. Davis, Stay with Me.

The driver asked, "Mr. Davis, are we going back to The King Manor?"

"No," Kelvin replied, "Go to Riverside Apartments."

The driver hesitated for a few seconds before answering, "Alright." Mr. Davis rarely went to Riverside Apartments, so why did he suddenly want to go there today? But he had no right to ask further questions.

Kelvin sat in the back seat, closing his eyes to rest. Without Penelope's presence, things felt a bit dull. Her existence had become habitual for him, and habits are the scariest and hardest things to change. That's why, he decided to go to Riverside Apartments.

Speaking of which, Fiona was the woman he was going to marry; so what was Penelope to him? Nothing!

Fiona opened the door and screamed with delight when she saw Kelvin outside, "Mr. Davis! You're here!"

"Hmm," he replied.

She immediately affectionately took his arm. "You haven't come to my place in so long. It's always been me finding you, while you remain distant." Kelvin's face remained expressionless. Fiona poured him some water and massaged his shoulders, "Mr. Davis, tonight, will you stay?"

He asked back, "Do you want me to stay?"

"Yes, of course!" Fiona exclaimed excitedly, "You bought this big house for me, but I've been living alone for a long time, and it scares me." Saying that, she leaned into Kelvin's embrace. A coquettish appearance could easily win a man's heart. And Kelvin was no different.

Kelvin rarely comes to her, but she was determined to keep him there. She couldn’t let Penelope continue to have a hold on Mr. Davis and become more dominant by the day. Tonight, she would seize the opportunity.

"Stay, Mr. Davis," Fiona urged desperately, "You are always with Penelope and rarely with me. I feel so sad. Besides, you've never stayed here before."

"Hmm," Kelvin nodded finally.

She instantly felt happier and was inclined to kiss him, but he avoided it. "Mr. Davis," Fiona pouted, "Do you really not want to be close to me?"

He wouldn't even kiss her, let alone share a bed. She had hoped to solidify her position by getting involved with Mr. Davis sooner. After all, she was not the woman from that night.

Kelvin got up and walked to the French windows, gazing at the view of the river outside.

"Fiona," he spoke softly, "Regarding that night... do you have any recollection of it?"

Kelvin didn't know what came over him. His mind was filled with Penelope. But she had only gone to the celebration of the Jewelry Department and would naturally return at night.

He also felt that Fiona was drastically different from that night; they weren't the same person. With worries weighing on his mind, he became increasingly restless.

"Um, I... I..." Kelvin question made Fiona instantly nervous. "I remember a bit."

Kelvin asked, "What do you remember?"

"Just... um... well..." Fiona started to stammer. She didn't actually know anything, so should she just make things up now? What if Kelvin sensed something was off? What would she do then? Everything would be ruined! But if she didn't answer now, Kelvin would also grow suspicious.

Sure enough, Kelvin didn't wait long for her response. He turned around, his gaze piercing into her with a perceptive power. Fiona couldn't possibly withstand his level of perception. She couldn't even dare to meet his eyes.

"You've forgotten?" Kelvin spoke, "Or you don't know how to say it? Or..." It wasn't her. This last part he kept it to himself.

One of his subordinates must have made a mistake. But Kelvin felt that the possibility of that was minimal, because all the details matched.

"Mr. Davis, actually... I... I..." Fiona lowered her head, on the verge of tears, "I never wanted to recall that night."

"Why?"

"When it first happened, I was so scared. My innocence was taken away just like that, and I didn't even know who that man was."

Seeing her in tears, Kelvin furrowed his eyebrows.

Fiona continued, "So I didn't dare mention it and lived in constant fear. It wasn't until you found me that I knew it was you. If it had been someone else, I...I would have rather not existed. I only remember it being so dark and painful. A girl's first time was supposed to be precious, and I never expected to lose it in such circumstances. I felt like my whole world collapsed, and I felt so dirty. But luckily it was you, and you promised to marry me, which is why I held on until the day you came to find me."

It has to be said that Fiona's acting skills were all put into play here with Kelvin. Usually during filming, she couldn't even shed a single tear.

Her words made Kelvin pause slightly before he replied, "I was just asking casually."

"That night, if it weren't for you, my whole life would've been ruined." Fiona wiped her tears away. "My father wanted to give me to an old man, and you can imagine how big of a blow that is to a girl."

"Well, I won't ask anymore." Seeing that Kelvin had stopped pursuing the details of that night, Fiona secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Hopefully, he hasn't figured out the truth?

She only knew what had happened that night. The person who had truly slept with Kelvin was Penelope. So, only she knew what kind of conversation had taken place in that dark room. Fiona was afraid Kelvin would ask about it, and her heart was in turmoil.

"Mr. Davis, why... Ummmh, suddenly have these questions?" she asked tentatively. "Did something happen?"

Kelvin denied with a firm voice, "Nothing."

Fiona couldn't guess his thoughts, so she could only nod. "I'll have the servant prepare dinner. Will you spend the evening with me?"

Kelvin looked down at his watch and answered, "Hmm." Afterall, Penelope was out. Was he supposed to return to The King Manor and eagerly wait for her to come back?

Fiona walked towards the kitchen while Kelvin took out his phone and messaged Timothy.

"For future department activities, you need to report to me. They can only proceed with my approval."

Timothy: "Seriously? You're bothered by such details?"

Kelvin: "Any problem?"

Timothy: "Is this rule applicable to every department or just our jewelry department?"

Kelvin: "Only yours."

Timothy understood clearly that Kelvin simply didn't want his wife going out to have fun without him.

“Ugh!” Timothy was frustrated and his mood became slightly sour thinking of this,” If he had the such a big problem, why not just forbid Penelope from participating? Why create such awkward rules!”

Noticing Timothy's expression, Penelope asked, "Mr. Foster, what's wrong?"

"Nothing." Timothy put away his phone adding, "Enjoy yourselves, everyone."
