Chapter 803 Brandon, Changed from Before!
Brent had always been loyal to two people: Isabella and Debra.
And what did he get in return?
Isabella was dead, and his twenty years of nurturing and educating her had all come to nothing.
Debra... Debra was ruthless and had kidnapped his daughter!
Brandon looked at Debra, his gaze growing colder and devoid of any emotion.
"Penelope let you off easy, you know that?" Brandon said. "She didn't forgive you; she just decided to move on."
Move on, not hold a grudge.
Move on, what's the point?
"After all your scheming, what did you get?" Brandon asked. "Debra, you wanted everything, but in the end, you got nothing! You bear undeniable responsibility for Isabella's death!"
Debra met his gaze. "Mr. Walker, do you... Do you hate me, too? Do you blame me?"
"Yes!" Brandon stepped forward, grabbing Debra's shoulders fiercely. "You made me lose Penelope, you personally killed my feelings, and ruined my engagement!"
If Debra hadn't kidnapped Penelope, he would have smoothly married her!
There wouldn't have been any interference from Kelvin!
He was the one who grew up with Penelope, and the one who made a lifelong promise to her when they were young!
But Debra's actions had thrown everything into chaos!
At this moment, Brandon's eyes were filled with fury and darkness!
His grip was so strong it seemed like he might crush Debra's shoulder blades!
Debra was terrified by Brandon's demeanor, her mouth half-open, forgetting to cry out in pain.
Brent was equally shocked.
He had known Brandon for so many years, but this was the first time he had seen Brandon lose control and show such a fierce expression!
Brandon had always been polite, a gentleman with great manners!
But now, Brandon was so strange that it was frightening!
"Debra, if it weren't for you, I wouldn't have been engaged to Isabella! What does she matter! I wanted Penelope, the true Mitchell family heiress, not Isabella, the impostor!"
"You harmed her, and you harmed me! Penelope said the biggest victims in this whole affair were her and Nicole... and me!"
Brandon was filled with so much hatred!
Because of Debra's selfishness, he lost his love! He lost the girl he had always wanted to marry!
He lost her forever!
"I... I..." Debra stammered, "Mr. Walker, Isabella was good to you, too. If you hadn't insisted on canceling the engagement, she wouldn't have been so desperate and wouldn't have done so many wrong things..."
"At this point, you're still trying to argue!"
Brandon forcefully pushed her away.
Debra stumbled back, crying out as she fell.
She first hit the tombstone hard, then fell to the ground, her palms scraping heavily against the surface.
The fall was brutal, and Debra felt dizzy, unable to recover for a long time, let alone get up!
Meanwhile, the rain suddenly started pouring down.
A thunderclap echoed in the sky.
Boom!
"Debra, Debra." Brent hurried forward to help her up. "Are you okay?"
Debra murmured, "Mr. Walker pushed me? So forcefully? A man so well-mannered, yet he lost control like that."
The rain poured down, large drops splashing on the ground.
The sky was filled with dark clouds, lightning, and thunder!
The rain fell heavily and urgently, and the wind blew fiercely.
The entire cemetery was shrouded in gloom!
Brent quickly grabbed the umbrella placed nearby, and held it over his head, but he was still mostly soaked.
"This is the only umbrella," he said. "What about Brandon? Is he going to walk down the mountain in the rain?"
Brent looked up and saw Brandon walking forward in the rain, not stopping, not using an umbrella.
He walked like a lifeless shell, like a soulless body!
The rain quickly drenched Brandon completely.
His shirt clung tightly to his body, making him look very disheveled.
But Brandon didn't care, continuing to walk forward, step by step, moving away.
"Brandon! Brandon!" Brent shouted loudly, his voice echoing through the cemetery. "Take the umbrella! Don't go, wait for me! I'll bring you the umbrella!"
But Brandon seemed not to hear, continuing to walk briskly.
Brent watched Brandon's back for a long time.
He suddenly felt that, at this moment, he didn't recognize Brandon anymore. The man he had always thought would marry his daughter!
Brandon had changed; he was no longer the same!
But Brent couldn't pinpoint what was different!
Maybe the truth about Penelope's disappearance had hit Brandon too hard, causing his emotions to be overly intense and depressed, leading to this.
In a few days, Brandon would recover, and he would return to being the old Brandon.
The rain grew heavier.
Brent supported Debra. "Let's go, we should leave too."
Debra turned back, taking a deep look at Isabella's photo.
The rain washed over the picture.
Until they descended the mountain, Brent and Debra didn't see Brandon again.
The rain seemed endless, like the sky had a hole. It continuously poured down, washing the streets, and was accompanied by strong winds blowing the trees on the roadside.
Penelope sat in the car, watching the raindrops slide down the window.
The car was quiet, isolating the outside storm, like another peaceful world.
She raised her hand, rubbing her arm.
"Cold?" Kelvin, who was reviewing documents, immediately noticed and adjusted the air conditioning. "How about now?"
He took off his jacket and draped it over her.
She leaned on his shoulder, closing her eyes.
"Physical cold can be solved by wearing a coat. But when the heart is cold..." Penelope said softly, "How can it be warmed?"
Kelvin turned his head, kissing her hair.
"Some people aren't worth your cold heart."
"I'm heartbroken for my mom." Penelope sighed. "Her youth, her love, her marriage, all given to Brent. But what did she get in the end?"
"She got you." Kelvin held her shoulder. "Penelope, she lost everything, but in this marriage, she got you."
"You sure know how to comfort me."
"Just stating the facts."
"Everyone hates Debra, Brent blames her too, right?" Penelope said, suddenly thinking of something, looking up at him. "But Kelvin, you benefited from this."
Kelvin raised an eyebrow. "Me? Are you saying that because Debra kidnapped you, I had the chance to take you from Brandon, to get you, to marry you? Otherwise, you would have always been Brandon's fiancée."
She smiled. "Yes. Debra's twisted logic sounds wrong, but for you, it has a bit of truth."
