Chapter 947 It Must Be Kelvin's Mistake!
"Hey, aren't regular couples supposed to sleep in bed? Why's Kelvin crashing on the floor?" Sam wondered aloud.
"Yeah, you got a point," Lucy replied, deep in thought. "But what can we do about it?"
"Let me think..." Sam said, scratching his head.
The two kids were brainstorming, trying to figure out a way to help Kelvin out of his predicament.
They naturally assumed it was Kelvin's fault, and Penelope was blameless.
After all, Mom's the best mom ever!
As for Dad... well, if Mom's right, she's right. If she's wrong, she's still right. Whatever Mom does is right!
It's always Dad's fault! If Mom's happy, the whole family's happy! If Mom's not happy, the whole family's not happy!
"I don't think Mom's missing anything," Lucy said. "We're good kids, get good grades, and don't cause trouble. Dad showers Mom with gifts... What can we do to make Mom happy?"
Sam suddenly had a lightbulb moment, snapped his fingers, and grinned. "I know what Mom's missing."
"What is it?" Lucy leaned in, curious.
Sam whispered a few words in her ear and then asked proudly, "How about that? Isn't my idea awesome?"
"Perfect!"
"Alright, it's a plan," Sam said. "After school, we'll make it happen. You gotta team up with me, okay?"
Lucy laughed. "Don't worry, Sam! I want Mom and Dad to be all lovey-dovey too. I hate seeing Dad on the floor; it bums me out."
If Kelvin heard that, he'd probably be thrilled.
Sam shrugged. "He's a big guy. What's the big deal about sleeping on the floor? It's not like he's losing a limb."
"Sam, if Dad heard you say that..."
"He's not here, so how could he hear?"
Lucy gave a mischievous smile. "I could rat you out!"
Sam panicked. "Lucy, don't do that. Don't be a snitch. We're on the same team!"
His sister Lucy might seem sweet and innocent, but she's actually pretty sharp!
She's full of ideas, not as simple as she looks!
Lucy might fool someone like Kelvin, who adores his daughter, but Sam saw right through her!
Lucy is an angel on the outside, but a little devil on the inside!
"Scared now?" Lucy grinned. "Sam, I didn't know you were afraid of Dad."
"Who's afraid of him... I'm not afraid."
"I get it, you're worried your star in the sky will fly away, disappear, and not belong to you anymore."
Sam sighed and muttered, "Who knew Kelvin had such skills?"
It felt like whatever he desired, Kelvin had it and could give it to him!
Even a star in the sky! Who could resist such a temptation?
"Lucy," Sam asked, "don't you want a star? It's so cool! The universe is so vast, but there's a star with a name you gave it, recognized by the whole world! You can look at it anytime with a telescope!"
Lucy looked up at the sky and said, "When I see all those stars, I feel like they're all mine. I can like whichever one I want. Why settle for just one?"
She believed every star was special and should just shine quietly in the night sky. Why own just one when you can enjoy them all?
Owning the whole sky feels way more romantic than just one star, right?
They're all hers! She can name them whatever she wants!
She can give each star a name! Whatever she wants, how free and unrestrained!
But Sam thought he needed to own a star with a name he gave it.
He wanted to own it, to possess it.
Maybe... that's the difference between how men and women think.
Men are born with a desire to possess, to get what they want, without much thought for romance!
"Alright, whatever," Sam shrugged. "Just don't mess things up."
"Am I the kind of person who messes things up?" Lucy asked.
"I know you. Your sweet appearance won't fool me."
It seemed like Sam had the most ideas, but Lucy was just as clever.
Lucy seemed sweet and gentle because no one had crossed her.
If they did... they'd see how tough she could be!
Lucy giggled. "Sam, I just have one question."
"Shoot," he replied coolly.
"When are you going to start calling him Dad? You can't keep calling him Kelvin all the time."
Sam went silent.
"Sam? Sam?" Lucy called him several times. "Answer my question."
"I... I'll call him Dad when I feel like it. I'll change eventually, why rush?"
"I'm just concerned about your relationship with Dad."
"He's my dad, I'm his son, we share the same last name. Our relationship is set," Sam said. "It can't change, and it won't change!"
Lucy stared at him. "No, you're upset about something. I can tell."
Sam quickly denied it. "No way! Only girls get upset. I don't do that!"
"You won't say, huh?" Lucy nodded. "Fine, I'll just tell Dad you said he deserves to sleep on the floor..."
"I never said he deserves it! Don't spread lies!"
"That's pretty much what you meant."
Sam got flustered. "How is that the same? It's totally different!"
Seeing him so worked up, Lucy burst into laughter. "Alright, Sam, I'm just teasing you."
Sam finally relaxed. "Little devil, only I can see through your true nature."
"Because you're my brother, and we're twins born on the same day!"
Sam turned to look out the car window.
Actually, he had wanted to start calling him Dad for a while.
But he felt like Kelvin didn't seem to care or mind whether he called him Dad or not.
Kelvin acted like it didn't matter.
Since Kelvin didn't care, Sam wasn't in a hurry to change!
Let's see who holds out the longest!
If Kelvin came and coaxed him, saying he'd love to hear him call him Dad, Sam would be happy to oblige and start calling Kelvin Dad.
The King Manor.
Kelvin spent the whole morning in the study, working remotely.
He didn't go to the office; he wanted to stay home and spend more time with Penelope.
