Chapter 990 Are You an Angel?
The butler mused to himself, "A house really feels complete with both a man and a woman."
"Just having a guy without a gal doesn't cut it!"
"Hey, clean up over here, there's still some water."
"These flowers were looking a bit sad. Go grab a fresh bouquet."
Brandon lounged on the couch, watching the hustle, but his mind was elsewhere.
Today, he had invited Thessaly over to the Walker Mansion.
Meanwhile, Kelvin and Penelope were bringing Sam and Lucy along.
It seemed like just another get-together, but Brandon had a plan up his sleeve.
"Mr. Walker," the butler asked, "Is there anything you're not happy with? We still have time to spruce things up before Ms. Winterbourne arrives!"
Brandon replied with a cool detachment, "Do we really need to roll out the red carpet for Thessaly?"
"She's your girlfriend, and maybe... the future Mrs. Walker. It's worth it."
Brandon chuckled softly.
Seeing his laid-back attitude, the butler couldn't help but wonder.
'Does Brandon not care for Thessaly? But if that's the case, why are they together?'
Of course, the butler wouldn't dare ask.
"Additionally, Mr. Walker," the butler continued, "Mr. Davis and Mrs. Davis are important guests, and their kids are coming too. I should make sure everything's perfect to show the Walker family's hospitality."
Brandon waved him off, signaling him to get back to work.
The butler nodded and turned, just as Thessaly walked in.
"Ms. Winterbourne, you're here."
Thessaly was dressed casually today, in a white sports jacket and skirt, showing off her long, slender legs.
She wore light makeup, looking more polished than her usual bare-faced self.
Most importantly... the bag she was carrying.
Brandon recognized it immediately; it was the one with the bug he'd planted.
But his gaze lingered on it for only a second before he looked away.
"Morning." He stood up and walked over to Thessaly. "Why'd you come over by yourself? I was gonna send a driver."
"I woke up and decided to come over. It's boring at home, better to hang out with you."
Thessaly smiled and hugged him, wrapping her arms around his waist, her chin resting on his chest.
Brandon ruffled her hair. "I texted you, but you didn't reply. I thought you were still asleep."
"I wanted to surprise you."
"Yeah, yeah, very surprising."
"And it's my first time at your place." Thessaly looked around. "It's even more luxurious than I imagined."
Brandon raised an eyebrow. "Why not stay?"
He was inviting her... to move in!
Since they'd been together, they seemed close, doing all the things couples do, but in reality... every action, every word was a subtle battle, a silent contest!
Thessaly's heart sank slightly. She knew Brandon wasn't inviting her to live at the Walker Mansion; he wanted to keep a closer eye on her, to have her under his watchful gaze!
"I'm filming," she replied with a smile. "I need to stay at a hotel near the set for convenience. The Walker Mansion is a bit far, not practical for commuting."
"I can have a driver take you."
"I'd rather use the travel time to sleep."
Brandon pressed his lips together, staying quiet.
Thessaly squeezed his hand gently. "Let's chat about it after I wrap up this movie, okay?"
He nodded.
He took her bag and handed it to the butler, then led her over to the couch.
The butler took the bag for safekeeping and signaled the other staff to clear out of the living room, leaving Mr. Walker and Ms. Winterbourne alone.
Soon, it was just the two of them in the room.
Thessaly kept a sweet smile on her face, playing the part of a woman in love.
Honestly, if she didn't think about how Brandon was using her, this relationship... was pretty perfect.
Brandon was a considerate and attentive boyfriend.
He was meticulous, caring, always sending good morning and good night texts, and solving any problem she had immediately. Everything was taken care of.
"Uncle Brandon!"
Suddenly, a clear child's voice came from outside.
Sam was like that, his voice arriving before he did!
He was so lively, quickly running into the living room, his footsteps loud.
Sam first saw Thessaly, his eyes widening, staring without blinking. "Hi, are you an angel?"
Thessaly was momentarily stunned, then her smile widened.
"An angel..." she said. "No one's ever called me that before."
What girl didn't like being called an angel?
"You are an angel," Sam continued to stare at her. "So pretty, so pretty, way prettier than on TV!"
He eagerly moved closer to Thessaly.
"Hi, angel," Sam said. "I'm Sam Davis, nice to meet you. Can you hug me? Or I can hug you."
Thessaly asked, "Why did you ask me to hug you first?"
"I want to sit on an angel's lap. You smell so nice, and you seem to glow!"
Nearby, Brandon asked, "Sam, what did you say your name was?"
"Sam Davis," he replied. "Uncle Brandon, I changed my last name to match Kelvin's. Lucy kept Mom's last name."
So that's how it was.
Brandon felt a twinge of displeasure.
Even though... it was perfectly normal, Kelvin's son should have Kelvin's last name!
But Brandon just thought Sam Cooper sounded better, more to his taste!
At that moment, Kelvin and Penelope walked in with Lucy.
Brandon's sudden invitation left Kelvin wondering what he was up to.
But Brandon's reason was hard to refuse.
He invited the Davis family of four in the name of himself and Thessaly.
And Sam and Lucy really wanted to see their Uncle Brandon; it had been a while.
So they came.
Ready to face whatever came their way!
Lucy said, "Sam, why'd you run so fast? We couldn't keep up!"
"Lucy, come quick, come see the angel! She's super pretty!"
Sam was very excited, quickly calling Lucy over.
Kelvin remained silent.
Who knew Sam liked pretty girls!
But... it was a man's nature.
Penelope shook her head helplessly. "He's got quite the silver tongue."
"He's not usually like this."
"It just means you don't know your son well enough," Penelope replied. "When he likes someone, he'll shower them with compliments, making them feel over the moon. If he doesn't like them, he'll either ignore them or find fault."
