Chapter 309 Boss Specifically Asking to See Molly.
So, he had no drive or expectations, like a machine just going through the motions.
But the idea of finding Molly got him curious.
Kelvin wanted to meet this mysterious woman.
Weekend.
Early in the morning, Kelvin headed straight to Penelope's place, with only Ryan tagging along.
Since there was no airport nearby, Kelvin had to land in a neighboring city and then drive to this small, unknown city.
By the time he got there, it was already past three in the afternoon.
"Mr. Davis," Ryan said, "Ben's booked a restaurant and is waiting in a private room."
"Just him?" Kelvin asked.
"He said he'd try his best to get Molly to meet you."
Kelvin responded coolly, "Got it."
He stood tall and had a striking presence. Anywhere he went in this small city, he looked like a male model in a commercial.
He was handsome, drawing a lot of attention.
Kelvin was very stern, and his gaze never lingered on anyone.
In the private room.
Ben was constantly calling Penelope.
But no one answered.
On the tenth call, finally, someone picked up.
"Hello, Molly, what are you busy with?"
"Hello?" A sweet, childlike voice came through the receiver, "Are you looking for my mommy?"
Ben was taken aback. "Are you Molly's child?"
"Yes. My mommy took my sister to the clinic downstairs, and she left her phone charging."
"When will she be back?"
"I don't know. Do you need something?"
"It's urgent!" Ben said, "Can you give the phone to your mom?"
Sam's eyes darted around. "My mommy's only urgent matter is finding a good husband. Anything else isn't urgent."
"Finding a husband is easy for her," Ben replied, "The person coming this time is a super handsome and wealthy single CEO. Tell your mom to get ready and come over!"
"Really?"
"Of course! If you don't believe me, you can come with her!"
Hearing this, Sam immediately responded, "Okay, I'll go now!"
After hanging up, Sam quickly headed out.
At the clinic.
Lucy was feeling sick, leaning against Penelope.
"Mommy, I don't feel well..." Lucy said.
"I'm here with you. Don't be afraid," Penelope gently patted her back. "We'll be home soon."
Seeing Lucy's pale face, Penelope felt extremely distressed.
Since Lucy was born, her health had been poor.
She was always catching colds, or coughing, repeatedly.
Penelope felt very guilty.
She thought it must have been because she didn't rest well during her pregnancy and went through too much, leading to Lucy's poor health.
But Sam was very healthy, and always energetic.
"Lucy, be good," Penelope softly coaxed, "Sleep for a while, and you'll feel better when you wake up."
In Penelope's arms, Lucy felt very secure and slowly fell asleep.
At this moment, Sam excitedly ran in. "Mommy!"
Penelope quickly signaled him to lower his voice. "Lucy just fell asleep."
Sam tiptoed over and whispered in her ear, "Mommy, someone is looking for you. They called and I answered. You should check it out."
Penelope picked up the phone.
What did Ben want now?
Was he still pushing that job at the big corporation?
She had already made it clear she wasn't interested.
Seeing Penelope staring at the phone, Sam reminded her, "Mommy, aren't you going to call back?"
"I'll do it later; I'm busy now."
Sam blinked. How could that be?
Wouldn't she miss out on the handsome and wealthy guy?
"That man sounded very urgent," Sam urged, with an exaggerated expression.
Penelope patted his head. "It's no need for you to worry about."
Just then, Ben's call came through again.
Not wanting to disturb her daughter, Penelope asked Ruby to watch over Lucy and went to answer the call.
"Mr. Wright."
"Molly, my driver is downstairs at your place. Please come over quickly."
"What is it?" Penelope asked, "If it's still about that job, I don't need to come."
Mr. Wright replied, "The boss of that corporation is here personally, and he specifically asked to see you!"
"The boss?"
"Yes, he'll be there in half an hour!"
Penelope was skeptical. "Mr. Wright,How could a small fry like me possibly attract the attention of the big boss of the company? You're joking."
She thought the person coming to see her was just a department manager.
At most, a director.
And this person was definitely not coming specifically for her but was in the area on a business trip and decided to meet her to discuss the job.
It couldn't possibly be the CEO of the company.
Someone like Kelvin, whose time was precious, and everyone had to make an appointment to see him, wouldn't come all the way here to invite an ordinary designer.
It was simply unrealistic.
"Molly, please help me out." Mr. Wright pleaded, "If you don't come, I'll be in trouble. "
Penelope understood that Ben had his difficulties too.
The corporation had shown great sincerity by sending someone to meet her.
"Mommy, go ahead," Sam, who had come over at some point, tugged at her skirt. "Ruby and I will take good care of Lucy. Don't worry!"
Penelope glanced at him and said to Ben, "Alright, I'll come over."
After hanging up, Sam eagerly and excitedly waved at her. "Bye-bye!"
Penelope found it strange.
Why was he so eager for her to go?
She felt something was off.
"Sam," she deliberately put on a stern face. "Did you get into trouble?"
Sam shook his head. "No!"
"Are you planning to do something bad?"
"No!"
Penelope scrutinized him, unable to figure out what he was thinking.
"Don't be late, Mommy," Sam pushed her towards the car door. "Good luck! I believe in you!"
His mommy was so beautiful, gentle, smart, and kind. She would definitely succeed in finding a handsome boyfriend!
Penelope, though puzzled, couldn't figure it out.
She was overwhelmed with Lucy's illness and work-related matters, leaving her brain less sharp than usual.
