Chapter 896 I Won't Betray Penelope
The relationships within the family were bound to have some rifts and cracks, making everyone feel a bit uncomfortable.
"The person who sent you these photos probably knew they wouldn't cause any major conflict between Penelope and me, so they targeted you instead," Kelvin said calmly. "Even if it just makes us argue for a while, the photos would have served their purpose."
When emotions ran high, people often said hurtful things they couldn't control. These words became a thorn in their hearts afterward.
It could disrupt the harmony of the Davis family. Otherwise, the photos would just sit there, gathering dust.
Posting them online was nearly impossible because the Davis Group's PR department was always on high alert, ready to delete any posts at the slightest hint of trouble.
They couldn't spread.
If they were posted online, Kelvin could trace the computer's location and find the person who uploaded them.
Even if that person wasn't the mastermind, catching a small player could provide clues and evidence.
This would make it easier to find the mastermind.
"Who would do something like this?" Liam asked. "Kelvin, who did you piss off to make them go to such lengths?"
"I'm still investigating."
"When did the photos come out?"
"Last week."
Liam was surprised. "It's been a week, and you haven't figured it out? Kelvin, what are you doing? Has your ability declined this much?"
"I've narrowed it down to one person," Kelvin replied. "But the evidence isn't sufficient."
"Then use force to make them talk. I've taught you that the means don't matter, only the result."
Kelvin would like to use force, but it was not realistic.
He couldn't just grab Brandon and interrogate him.
Penelope wouldn't allow it.
Besides, Brandon would likely keep the evidence hidden and say nothing.
Kelvin could only collect evidence step by step. When he had enough to take Brandon down, that would be Brandon's end.
"I know what to do. Don't worry," Kelvin glanced at the photos in the trash. "I won't betray Penelope or do anything to hurt her."
"Good, good. As long as you say that, I'm relieved. Kelvin, no matter what, you need to live a stable and peaceful life. That's more important than anything. Now you understand the happiness I've talked about."
Kelvin smiled. "Yes, very happy."
Liam patted his shoulder. "If you have time and the inclination, consider having another child with Penelope. If you're too busy to take care of the child, we can help. We all have plenty of time and would love to have the child around."
Meanwhile, upstairs, Penelope was heading to Lucy's room when Nicole suddenly grabbed her hand.
"Penelope,"
"Mom? What's wrong?"
"I received this this morning," Nicole handed Penelope the photos. "Take a look."
"What is this?"
Penelope curiously flipped through them.
Nicole said, "I don't know who sent them or what's going on. But seeing these photos, Penelope, I immediately thought of you. What are you going to do?"
Was her tragedy going to repeat itself in Penelope's life?
Brent had betrayed their marriage and family, had a mistress, and she had been kept in the dark until she was old and realized her best years were gone.
This was Nicole's lifelong pain and regret.
If she had seen Brent's true colors earlier, she would have divorced him without hesitation.
So, when she received the photos, Nicole couldn't wait to tell Penelope.
A woman must know the truth and not live in ignorance.
"Penelope, I understand how you feel seeing these photos. You must be very upset," Nicole said. "But you have to face it. Don't be afraid, don't hesitate. I'm here to support you."
Penelope flipped through the photos. Although she had seen them before, they still made her feel uneasy.
She gathered the photos and threw them in the trash.
"Penelope!" Nicole was stunned. "What are you doing? You can't throw them away. I don't have backups. These are evidence. You can't discard them!"
Nicole reached for the trash.
"Mom, don't. It's dirty."
"This is your evidence. You need to confront Kelvin with it. How can you throw it away? Even if you're angry, you need to hold onto it until you get a result. Then you can tear it up."
If Penelope hadn't stopped her, Nicole's hand would have been in the trash.
"Mom, I can't explain everything right now," Penelope said. "But this is a misunderstanding. Kelvin and Thessaly have no intimate relationship."
"What?!" Nicole was shocked.
"I've seen these photos before. Kelvin has already explained. Mom, you came here early just to talk about this, not to see me or visit Sam and Lucy, right?"
Nicole nodded.
Just then, footsteps sounded from the stairs. Penelope looked up and saw Connor.
"Dad, why are you upstairs?"
"I couldn't sit still, so I walked around," Connor smiled. "Penelope, do you have a moment? Are you done talking with Mrs. Wright? I want to say a few words."
Penelope asked, "Dad, what do you want to say? Is it about the photos?"
Connor's smile froze. "How did you know? Did you receive photos this morning too?"
Penelope had guessed right.
Nicole asked, "Dr. Johnson, did you receive photos too?"
"Yes. Did you?"
"Yes."
The three of them looked at each other, bewildered.
"Let's go downstairs," Penelope said, rubbing her forehead. "Could it be that Liam is talking to Kelvin about the photos too?"
The more she thought about it, the more likely it seemed.
In the living room, everyone had gathered again. Penelope walked up to Kelvin, about to say something, but Kelvin took her hand. "I already guessed."
