Chapter 984 Does Dad Only Have Money? Nothing Else?
"You know, Penelope, I never thought you'd be such a fangirl."
"That's just how it goes with celebrity crushes. Back in college, Monica and I would hit up concerts and even hang out at the airport hoping to catch a glimpse."
Now that she was a wife and mom, she just swapped out different male celebrities as her phone wallpaper for kicks.
Although... Kelvin is pretty handsome, definitely holding his own against any celebrity.
But seeing the same face every day could get a bit dull.
Besides, she had already got Kelvin, but those celebrities? They were just fantasies!
The unattainable was always the most tempting!
"You could still chase your 'boyfriends' all over the country, tracking their every move," Kelvin teased. "I wouldn't mind."
Penelope quickly shot back, "No way, I'm too old for that now, no energy left."
Even if she wanted to, she wouldn't dare!
Her dear husband keeps a close watch! No way to indulge in those celebrity crushes!
"Smart move."
If Penelope dared to go, he'd... break her legs!
Well, not really. He could never bring himself to do that!
Kelvin never raised his voice at her, never dared to be harsh.
Penelope is the apple of his eye, and he wouldn't let her suffer even the slightest bit.
"Phone," Kelvin suddenly said, reaching out his hand.
Penelope, unsure of his intentions, handed over her phone.
They both knew each other's passwords, no secrets, free to look.
Kelvin expertly navigated her phone, made a few changes, and handed it back.
Penelope took it, glanced at the screen, and was speechless.
"Really, Kelvin?" she pouted. "Was that necessary?"
He had changed her phone wallpaper to a picture of himself!
And not just that, even her chat background!
He even swapped her profile picture for one of his own!
Penelope couldn't take it anymore. "You can change anything else, but my profile picture too? Kelvin, that's too much!"
Whose phone was this, anyway?
"Don't like it?" Kelvin raised an eyebrow. "Then let's use a picture of us together. Or a family photo."
"My profile picture is my choice. I want a beautiful picture of myself!"
Rebelliously, Penelope changed her profile picture to a stunning photo of herself.
Kelvin was instantly displeased.
Using such a gorgeous photo as her profile picture... was she trying to attract attention?
At first glance, no one would know she was married with kids; she looked single!
But he couldn't do much about it, so he compromised, "Fine, change the profile picture, but make the Facebook background a family photo."
"Deal."
Penelope agreed readily.
She changed her Facebook background to a drawing Lucy had lovingly made.
Sam and Lucy stood in the middle, with her and Kelvin on either side, holding the kids' hands.
"How's that?" she asked, showing him.
Kelvin reluctantly nodded.
His profile picture, background, every photo spot on his phone was filled with Penelope, or family photos, or the kids.
Never a solo picture of himself. His life, his whole world, was his beloved and their children!
Sam stood coolly to the side, watching this "drama" unfold. Suddenly, he sighed and shook his head, "Mom, what does marriage really bring to a woman?"
Penelope glanced at him, "What are you getting at now?"
"Marriage has tied you down, Mom! You have no freedom!"
Penelope was silent. She glanced at Kelvin a few times, then at Sam, signaling him to watch his words. Kelvin could be quite petty! But Sam didn't care.
"Look, back then, you had a bunch of boyfriends, crushing on this handsome guy today, that drama led tomorrow. Got bored? Just switch it up, always keeping things fresh with handsome guys."
"And now? You only have Kelvin. You gave up a whole forest for one tree!"
Lucy wasn't having it. She retorted, "Sam, by your logic, Dad gave up an entire garden for Mom!"
She was always on Kelvin's side. Whenever Sam criticized Kelvin, Lucy would defend him. Lucy loved Penelope and Kelvin!
Hearing Lucy stand up for him, Kelvin's fatherly heart was filled with warmth and comfort!
"That's different," Sam replied. "Mom was the most beautiful, blooming flower in the garden, and Kelvin was lucky to pick her. And Kelvin? Besides being rich, what else does he have?"
Lucy challenged, "Are you sure Dad only has money? Nothing else?"
"I..."
"Be honest, Sam," Lucy warned, "Liars' noses grow really long!"
Sam felt a bit guilty. He touched his nose, pouting, "Kelvin's rich and... handsome, I guess. But not as handsome as me."
"You're Dad's son, you got his genes. If he wasn't handsome, how could you be? Genetic mutation?"
"I... I also have Mom's genes! I got even more handsome, can't I?"
Both kids were sharp and clever, each with their own logic. Sam was always like this. But... Lucy being so articulate was a bit surprising to Kelvin. Lucy seemed like a perfect little angel, but when debating with Sam, she held her ground with both words and logic!
Penelope had raised both kids well!
Lucy continued, "Dad's rich and handsome, and what else? Is that it?"
"What else?" Sam asked, "You tell me."
"He's tall! And Dad works out, he's got muscles! So many great qualities, Dad's amazing and perfect."
Sam was at a loss for words. What was going on? Lucy was suddenly on fire, countering him at every turn.
"Alright, alright," Sam nodded, "So he barely matches Mom, okay?"
"No, not okay. Dad and Mom are a perfect match, a match made in heaven, equal and free in love! They're both excellent, both perfect, so they're a great pair!"
Lucy held her head high, continuing to speak. She just couldn't stand Sam always badmouthing Kelvin! She had to argue with Sam!
"Lucy said so much today, every word defending me," Kelvin was immensely gratified. "Having a daughter is the best... daughters are the best."
