Chapter 985 Who is Uncle Brandon's Girlfriend?
Kelvin never really got what having a son was all about. But then it dawned on him—sons are for handling the heavy stuff.
What kind of heavy stuff? Running the family business, of course!
The Davis family had a massive empire, with a company that employed thousands. Managing it took skill and a whole lot of grit.
And it was exhausting, with endless tasks and heavy responsibilities, carrying the rise and fall of the entire Davis Group on one's shoulders.
Kelvin definitely didn't want Lucy to bear that burden.
In the workplace, women already faced greater challenges than men.
So, in the future, Sam would manage the company, diligently guarding the family legacy, while Lucy? She'd live like a princess, buying whatever she wanted without ever checking the price!
Sons were for work, while daughters were for enjoyment!
Thinking this way made Kelvin feel much better, and he started seeing Sam in a more favorable light.
Penelope chuckled, "You two bickering again... Sam, Lucy, should I set up a debate for you?"
"No way," Lucy shook her head. "I'm a sweet and charming little lady, always keeping my beauty and grace!"
Sam looked at her, "Beauty? Grace? Do those words even apply to you?"
"Hey! Sam!"
"But," Sam shifted his tone, "seeing you think and argue like this, I'm relieved. The world is tough, and guys can be bad. Staying rational and clear-headed will keep you from being fooled!"
Kelvin wholeheartedly agreed.
"You need to protect Lucy," Kelvin said. "Watch out for her, shield her from those guys with bad intentions. Sam, you're her brother, a man, and protecting women is a man's duty, got it?"
Sam crossed his arms, looking cool and slightly annoyed, nodding, "Of course, I get it. I'm just hoping she stays sharp, so I don't have to be on guard all the time."
Kelvin picked Lucy up, sitting her on his lap, "Our Lucy is beautiful and smart. Only the best guy in LA will be good enough for her."
Future son-in-law... he'd have to pass Kelvin's test!
"Kelvin, that's not right," Sam shook his head. "In twenty years, the best guy in LA will be me."
Kelvin fell silent.
Penelope fell silent.
Lucy fell silent.
"It should be the second-best guy," Sam added, "to be worthy of Lucy."
Kelvin didn't even want to respond.
Penelope couldn't be bothered.
Only Lucy said, "As long as I like him, he's the best in my heart."
She looked up at Kelvin, "Right, Dad?"
"Right," Kelvin nodded.
"Geez," Sam shrugged, "I just praised you, and now you're all about romance. If he's not that great, no matter how much you like him, he's only got so much to offer!"
Lucy was about to say something when Penelope interrupted, "Alright, alright, that's enough. Let's have some fruit, it's freshly cut."
The living room finally quieted down from the lively chatter.
"Mom," Lucy said, munching on fruit, "did you take any pictures today? Show me!"
Lucy asked, "Mom, what did you do then?"
Penelope hesitated, "Uh, well... I met up with some friends. Uncle Brandon was there, and I made a new friend—the lead actress from the movie."
"Uncle Brandon?" Lucy grinned, "I haven't seen him in forever. Does he have a girlfriend now?"
"He does. They just started dating today."
"Wow!" Lucy exclaimed.
Sam chimed in, "Wow!"
"Who's Uncle Brandon's girlfriend? Who is she?" Sam asked eagerly, "Is she pretty? Does she have a great figure? Is she kind? I've been keeping an eye out for Uncle Brandon, but never found anyone good enough! Did he find someone himself?"
"Yes, he did. His girlfriend is my new friend."
"The movie's lead actress, Thessaly?"
Penelope nodded, "Yep."
Sam's eyes lit up, "Thessaly! She's gorgeous!"
Lucy blinked, "Sam, you know her?"
"I've seen her movies," Sam said. "Here, let me show you."
Sam quickly searched for Thessaly's info online.
"She's really beautiful," Lucy agreed, "so pretty, and she has dimples when she smiles!"
"Right, right, it's great she's with Uncle Brandon!"
Sam was genuinely pleased.
Otherwise, he'd always be worried about Uncle Brandon's marriage situation!
Penelope tapped Sam's head, "You're so young, and already matchmaking?"
"What's matchmaking mean?" Sam asked, "Like being a matchmaker?"
"Yeah, pretty much."
"Well, I'm just following your lead."
Penelope was puzzled, "??"
"You love playing matchmaker, always pairing people up," Sam said. "I guess I inherited it from you."
Penelope found herself... unable to argue.
Frustrated and at a loss for words, she pinched Kelvin, "Look at your son!"
Kelvin held her hand, gently rubbing it in his palm.
"Seeing Uncle Brandon happy, I'm relieved," Sam nodded repeatedly. "That Isabella was no good, mean, and selfish. Now it's better, a beautiful angel has finally come to Uncle Brandon!"
Kelvin listened quietly, not saying a word.
Not only did Penelope have deep feelings for Brandon, but Sam and Lucy did too.
After all, during those four years in the small town, Brandon was always there for them, offering help and support.
To the kids, Uncle Brandon was a good person in their childhood, almost like family.
Back then, Brandon was truly impeccable, selfless, and dedicated.
Unfortunately, people changed.
The Brandon of today was nothing like before!
When the truth about Brandon's secret actions came out, not only would Penelope struggle to accept it, but the kids would too.
Their kind, gentle, and gentlemanly Uncle Brandon would suddenly become a monster.
"Kelvin, Kelvin?" Sam waved a hand in front of his eyes, "What are you thinking about so seriously?"
Kelvin glanced at him, "What?"
"Nothing, I was saying, now that you have one less rival, can you finally relax?"
"...You could say that."
