Chapter 974 An Accident Occurs Right After Starting Up!

"Hey, that outfit looks awesome," Brandon said as he walked up to her. "You ready to roll?"

Thessaly flashed a sweet, innocent smile. "I'm no rookie. I've been through a ton of these opening ceremonies. Nothing to prep for. I just wanna get it over with and dive into filming, really get into my character."

Brandon chuckled. "Yeah, it's my first time on a film set, so I'm still getting the hang of it. Thought you might be in the same boat... is my bad."

"Mr. Walker, you're the investor, after all."

"I hate that title," Brandon replied. "Thessaly, just call me Brandon."

Thessaly nodded. "Alright, alright. Whatever Mr. Walker says."

"???"

"Brandon, whatever Brandon says," Thessaly corrected herself. "Is that better?"

Brandon nodded. "Much better. Penelope's already here. We should go say hi."

"Sure thing."

Thessaly tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and headed out.

Watching her walk away, Brandon's smile widened.

It seemed that  Thessaly was already caught up in his charm.

Now, he just needed to move things forward.

They couldn't stay in this limbo forever, right?

It was time to make things official!

Today was the perfect chance for Brandon.

Not only was Penelope at the opening ceremony, but Kelvin was there too.

Just as he had hoped!

The ceremony kicked off right at 10:08 AM.

The lead actors and directors took turns speaking on stage.

In the audience sat the film's investors.

Cameras clicked non-stop, and reporters were live-streaming the event.

Everything was going smoothly.

"Thessaly looks stunning," Penelope whispered to Kelvin. "She's flawless from every angle, just breathtaking."

He raised an eyebrow. "Weren't you here to see the leading man?"

"I think he looks better on camera. In person, he doesn't quite match Thessaly's presence. I can't take my eyes off her!"

Kelvin was pleased with her comment.

"So," he said, "the most captivating view is still me, sitting right next to you."

Penelope blinked, then burst into laughter. "Absolutely. My dear, you're handsome on camera and even more so in person, perfect from every angle."

"On camera? When have I been on camera?"

"Financial news," Penelope replied. "You've been interviewed for finance segments, and there are clips with you in them..."

Kelvin's smile grew wider. "You've watched them?"

"Yes. During the years we were apart, I kept tabs on you, intentionally or not."

Back then, she couldn't see him in person, so this was her only way to know how he was doing, whether he was well and happy.

Kelvin reached over and ruffled her hair.

Penelope stayed still, letting him.

The two of them shared this intimate moment, oblivious to others.

It was normal for them; as a couple, this was just how they interacted, so it didn't feel out of place.

But to others, it was a different story.

Some reporters focused on the ceremony, while others couldn't help but notice the affection between Kelvin and Penelope.

This trip was worth it—they got two great stories!

The clicks would surely skyrocket!

If female celebrities envied Thessaly, they could only admire Penelope.

Thessaly's career success was something others might achieve with hard work.

But marrying into a top-tier family? That was pure luck.

And being cherished and respected after marrying in? That was even rarer.

It took not just luck, but extraordinary luck!

Some of the supporting actresses occasionally glanced at Kelvin, wishing a guy like him would notice them.

Brandon sat nearby, looking disinterested.

But in reality, he was watching Kelvin and Penelope's every move out of the corner of his eye, taking it all in.

Yet, Brandon's face stayed neutral, showing no emotion.

The ceremony continued smoothly.

Paul led the crew in handing out small gifts to the actors.

"These are from Mr. Walker, a little token of goodwill. Here's to a smooth shoot and a successful wrap!"

"Everyone gets one, here you go."

Giving small gifts was a traditional way to share blessings and hope for a good box office return.

The gifts weren't extravagant.

Even the lead actors got the same small tokens as the extras.

Paul handed Thessaly her gift. "Thessaly, you look amazing today. So beautiful and fierce, perfect for the role!"

"Thanks, Mr. Simmons."

Thessaly accepted it without expression, not even glancing at him.

She was doing her best to be polite, which was already a lot of respect for him!

Paul didn't mind her attitude, thinking to himself, acting all high and mighty now, but one day... Thessaly would be under his thumb again!

The more unattainable something was, the more he wanted it.

Paul's gaze lingered on Thessaly, suddenly understanding why Brandon was so taken with someone like Penelope, willing to go to great lengths to win her over.

Because other women threw themselves at him, offering no challenge or excitement!

Thessaly turned away, her back to Paul.

His leering gaze made her feel disgusted!

She stepped forward.

The stage was crowded, bustling with people moving around.

Being a filming site, there were many machines, and the floor was covered with thick black cables.

Suddenly, someone tripped, and the black cable snapped taut.

Thessaly was about to look up when she heard several voices cry out at once: "Watch out!"

"Thessaly, watch out!"

"Get out of the way!"

What? Watch out for what? Get out of the way?

Thessaly was completely caught off guard, having no idea what was happening.

By the time she realized, a massive camera rig was crashing down towards her!

People around her screamed and scattered.

A few hands reached out to save her, to pull her away, but the machine was falling too fast; there was no time!

Thessaly looked up, watching the camera get closer and closer... this was it.

An accident on the first day of shooting, what would happen to the rest of the filming?

In that moment, Thessaly prayed silently, hoping she wouldn't get hurt, especially not her face!

Injuries on her body could be covered with clothes, but if her face was damaged, she couldn't be on camera!

Just as she was about to cover her face, a strong force yanked her away, and she stumbled to the side.

Then, a warm, solid body pressed against her, tall and protective, shielding her completely.
