Chapter 1067 I Apologize to You All for All the Wrong Things I Have Done

What did Brandon get in return for everything he did for Penelope?

A thank you, an apology, a vague promise to repay him? Or her lifelong gratitude, treating him like a brother?

Did he get the approval of Sam and Lucy? Did they sweetly call him Uncle Brandon?

What good was any of that to Brandon?

Absolutely none!

He was not a philanthropist!

Brandon wanted Penelope to belong to him, to stay by his side, and to be moved by his efforts and love.

In this world, where was there selfless love?

Love is selfish; it's about possession and gain!

"I get it," Penelope replied. "But Brandon, it's exactly because I can't give you what you want that I feel guilty and try so hard to repay you."

"How are you gonna repay me? With what? Can you even repay me?"

Faced with Brandon's aggressive questioning, Penelope was at a loss.

Yeah, she couldn't repay him, nor did she have anything he wanted.

Brandon was exploiting Penelope's guilt, bringing up the past to take the moral high ground.

Penelope was stumped, but Kelvin wasn't!

Kelvin's logic was sharp; Brandon's simple words couldn't trap him!

"So," Kelvin said calmly, "is this your excuse for all the despicable things you've done?"

Brandon, who had been so confident and passionate, was momentarily stunned by Kelvin's words.

Then he said, "I'm just stating a fact."

"Does stating a fact justify your wrongdoings?"

Kelvin's mind was clear; he wouldn't be easily stumped or unable to respond!

Only in front of Penelope would he be at a loss for words.

Brandon pressed his lips together. "Can you deny all the good I've done for Penelope? Without me, what would have happened to her? What kind of life would she have had? She might not have even made it to see Sam and Lucy born!"

"I don't deny that, and neither does Penelope," Kelvin replied. "But no one forced you to do any of it. You did it willingly. So why use it to morally blackmail Penelope now?"

"I…"

Kelvin's voice rose, cutting Brandon off. "Besides, Penelope isn't ungrateful. If she didn't remember your kindness, would she be sitting here peacefully with you?"

Considering what Brandon had done?

He almost violated Penelope!

A trusted friend drugged her, took her to a hotel, undressed her, and almost...

Penelope had already shown Brandon the greatest tolerance!

The living room fell into a brief silence.

Kelvin sat with a powerful presence, legs crossed, with an air of composed authority.

Thessaly lowered her head slightly, her hair falling over her shoulders, hiding her emotions.

"Fine, fine…" Brandon finally broke the silence. "Let's not dwell on the past. Let's solve the current problem and let bygones be bygones."

Penelope glanced at him. "It's not bygones. Brandon, I know the difference between gratitude and affection."

"Penelope, I'm sorry. I know what I did hurt you deeply, and this apology is sincere."

"Apologies are meaningless now."

Brandon said, "I get that, but I want you to know I don't regret it."

Penelope frowned.

"If I had to do it again, I'd do the same. I wouldn't change my plans or actions."

Penelope's frown deepened.

She didn't know how to respond to Brandon.

And Brandon added, "I just love you, Penelope. From our childhood together to all these years, I've always remembered. I've always chosen you, but we drifted apart."

Kelvin snorted coldly.

To him, Brandon was just playing the emotional card, making excuses.

He wanted to see how Brandon planned to reconcile today!

"Why hold on to me… A missed chance is a missed chance," Penelope said. 'If you stop focusing on me, there are plenty of girls in LA who'd be right for you."

"But they're not you."

Thessaly, who had been silent, suddenly laughed.

Her laugh was clear.

"Brandon, I didn't come here to hear your confession," Thessaly said. "Your deep feelings only move you. Penelope won't accept them, Mr. Davis finds them annoying, and I find them… disgusting."

She loved him, but he never loved her, and now he was professing his love for Penelope in front of her.

How was Thessaly supposed to feel?

Brandon laughed too, a mocking laugh.

"Fine, I won't say it. Let's move on…" He sighed, pulling a USB drive from his pocket and placing it on the table. "I came with sincere intentions to reconcile."

Thessaly guessed, "The photos are on this USB?"

"Yes, I have no backups. Everything is on there," Brandon replied. "Now, I'm giving it to you."

The USB lay quietly on the table.

Everyone's eyes were on it.

This was Brandon's bargaining chip. They thought it would take more time and effort to get it, but…

Brandon just handed it over?

Thessaly grabbed it, then suddenly let go. "No, you wouldn't give it up so easily."

"It's in your hand. It's yours."

"What's your condition?"

Brandon was a businessman. He wouldn't go through all this trouble to end up with nothing, losing Penelope's trust and friendship.

"I have no conditions," Brandon said slowly. "Take it."

Kelvin raised an eyebrow.

Penelope couldn't help but ask, "Didn't you say Thessaly had to drop the lawsuit, release Paul, and make a public statement to minimize the impact before you'd hand over the photos?"

"That was my previous thought. I've changed my mind now."

With that, Brandon stood up. "I apologize for all the wrongs I've done."

He bowed deeply.

It was as if he were still the gentleman with considerable wealth, untainted by dirty thoughts and actions.

Thessaly stared at him for several seconds, then turned and walked to the study.

"I'll check the USB on the computer," she said. "I need to be sure."

She still felt uneasy; something wasn't right.
