Chapter 1073 Mr. Davis is Unconscious!
Things were different now.
Once you've tasted sweetness, how can you go back to the loneliness of being alone?
But... he really had to go back to being alone.
Kelvin thought he should push Penelope away. He wanted to face the end of his days alone, without dragging her into his suffering, without making her run back and forth to the hospital.
Kelvin started coughing.
And the more he coughed, the worse it got. He was struggling to breathe, and the pain in his chest was becoming unbearable!
"Mr. Davis!" Ryan saw him and rushed over, patting his back repeatedly. "Mr. Davis, what's wrong?"
Kelvin couldn't speak.
Ryan wasn't great at taking care of people, so he hurriedly fetched a glass of water.
Kelvin took a couple of sips, barely managing to catch his breath. The coughing gradually subsided.
His face looked pale and ashen.
"Mr. Davis, should we go to the hospital?" Ryan suggested, "You don't look..."
He didn't finish his sentence, too afraid to say it out loud.
Kelvin's health was tied to the entire Davis Group!
"No need, I'm fine. You can leave." Kelvin waved his hand. "Remember to close the door."
Seeing him like this, Ryan didn't dare leave. "Mr. Davis, I..."
"Get out!"
Ryan had no choice but to leave, still saying, "I'll be right outside. If you need anything, just call me!"
Kelvin didn't respond; his hand pressed against his chest.
He had felt the pain in the car but had been ignoring it, suppressing it. Now... he couldn't hold on any longer!
Kelvin slowed his breathing, trying to stand up. But as soon as he did, his vision went black.
The intense pain felt like it was tearing his body apart!
In that instant, all his strength was drained, and he collapsed heavily back into his chair.
The chair hit the bookshelf behind him with a loud crash!
Ryan heard the noise and immediately turned to look.
Kelvin had completely passed out!
Oh my God!
Kelvin had fainted!
Ryan was so shocked, his brain almost stopped functioning. He stood there, stunned for three seconds before snapping back to reality and running over. "Mr. Davis! Mr. Davis, wake up! Quick! Call an ambulance!"
Ryan's voice echoed through the entire floor.
Panic, helplessness, urgency!
The sound of hurried footsteps came from the secretary's office.
Everyone on that floor rushed out, calling for an ambulance, pressing the elevator buttons... it was chaos!
Kelvin was crucial to the entire company!
If something happened to him, it would be a disaster!
Jewelry Department.
Penelope sat at her computer, her heart suddenly racing for no apparent reason.
She felt anxious. What was going on?
She had gone to bed on time last night and slept well. Why was she feeling this way?
Was there something wrong with her heart?
"Penelope," Tina noticed something was off and came over. "Are you feeling unwell?"
"I..."
Penelope didn't know how to put it into words.
"Do you need to go to the hospital? Or maybe the medical office?" Tina asked. "I can go with you."
"It's nothing," Penelope waved her hand. "Just feeling a bit anxious, like something's about to happen. It's not my health."
Tina immediately tried to comfort her. "What could happen? Sam's cold is almost completely gone, right?"
"He's fully recovered."
"That's great! You're probably just worrying for no reason," Tina said. "Like my mom, she always thinks I'm seriously ill when I have a minor headache or fever, but I'm perfectly fine."
Penelope forced a smile. "Maybe. It's okay, you go back to work."
"Call me if you need anything."
"Okay."
Tina was about to return to her desk when she saw someone rushing in from outside, stumbling and bumping into several people.
What was going on? Why the urgency?
Penelope heard the commotion and looked up.
She recognized the person!
It was the secretary from the president's office! She had seen her a few times and had a vague impression of her.
"Mrs. Davis..." The secretary ran up to her, out of breath, and said anxiously, "Something's happened, Mr. Davis... he's in trouble..."
Penelope stood up abruptly. "What happened?"
"Mr. Davis... he suddenly fainted and was just rushed to the hospital!"
"What?!!"
Penelope's pupils contracted sharply.
Kelvin fainted? He was taken to the hospital?
How could he faint? They had just parted ways half an hour ago. He was fine, laughing and talking, showing no signs of anything wrong! He looked healthy and energetic!
What happened? What was going on?
Penelope couldn't figure it out, her heart suddenly palpitating with heightened intensity!
She had known Kelvin for a long time, and he had only ever had colds, occasionally coughing, but like Sam, he recovered quickly and never stayed sick for long.
But this time, he had suddenly fainted without warning.
Penelope's heart sank, like falling into a bottomless abyss.
She thought of Lucy's leukemia.
Lucy had often been sick and caught colds.
Kelvin was usually very healthy and strong, but now he had suddenly fainted and was rushed to the hospital. Could it be... could it be something more serious?
More serious than Lucy's leukemia?
The thought flashed through her mind, and Penelope couldn't stand, stumbling back and collapsing into her chair.
"Penelope!"
"Mrs. Davis!"
Penelope's face turned pale, her eyes unfocused.
No, it couldn't be. She was overthinking it. This couldn't happen again.
God wouldn't play such a cruel joke on her!
"I'm... I'm fine." Penelope stood up again. "Quick, I need to go to the hospital. Arrange a car now. I need to see Kelvin! I need to be with him!"
At times like this, she couldn't afford to collapse!
Kelvin had already fainted. If she couldn't hold on and fainted, too, it would be even more chaotic!
Penelope bit her tongue hard, using the pain to stay awake!
Hospital.
Emergency Room.
Penelope stood outside, anxiously waiting.
Tina had come along, gently comforting her. "It's going to be okay, Penelope. Don't be scared."
Soon, Timothy and Monica arrived after hearing the news.
"How is he?" Timothy asked. "Did the doctors say anything?"
Penelope shook her head. "I haven't seen anyone. They just said he's inside."
Timothy's brows furrowed tightly, a look that hadn't appeared on his face in a long time.
