Chapter 976 I Save You Because I Care About You

Penelope nodded, "Alright."

She was deeply worried about Thessaly, and even more concerned about Brandon's injuries!

Kelvin had already wrapped his arm around her shoulder, guiding her backstage.

He got Thessaly's look; he needed to head over there now.

Because what was about to happen... he and Penelope had to see it.

Otherwise, how could Brandon's carefully orchestrated plan work out?

After a bit of chaos, the stage finally settled down.

The fallen camera was carried away.

"Sorry," Paul said, "We had a little mishap, but... it's all good, nobody got hurt, nothing major. Let's keep rolling... We've got an interview segment coming up. The main cast will be interviewed, and we welcome all reporters to ask questions."

Paul was feeling pretty frustrated.

Starting off with such an incident didn't feel very lucky.

And it hit Brandon... the investor, who absolutely couldn't be harmed!

In the lounge.

Brandon sat in a chair, motionless, beads of sweat on his forehead.

"Mr. Walker, please hang tight, the doctor's on the way," a staff member said, "I'll go hurry them up!"

"Go ahead."

Everyone else wisely left, giving the room to Brandon and Thessaly.

They certainly couldn't interrupt their private moment!

Thessaly stood in front of Brandon, unsure of what to say.

Her emotions were complicated.

This complexity didn't need acting; it was directly reflected in her expression, and Brandon... wanted to see this complexity in her.

Thessaly couldn't help but think, 'This is exhausting.'

Even now, she had to keep playing games with Brandon, maneuvering, unable to express her true feelings.

When could she be genuine, be straightforward?

Could she ever meet a man who was sincere and honest?

Maybe all her luck was spent on her career, leaving her love life so tangled and difficult!

"...Does it hurt?" Thessaly finally asked softly after a while.

Brandon smiled at her, "Don't worry, see, I'm still fine, right? If it were serious, I'd have been taken to the hospital by now."

She said nothing.

Brandon chuckled again, "Really, I'm okay. I can talk to you, I'm clear-headed, and I can move around. I work out a lot, so I'm pretty strong; getting hit isn't a big deal. But you, being so petite and slim, if that camera had hit you, it would have been a real problem."

Thessaly glanced at him, then looked away.

She asked, "You saved me because you were worried about delaying the movie's progress, right? I'm the lead actress. If I got hurt, I couldn't film, and the whole crew would have to wait for me to recover, causing delays."

She asked deliberately, but at the same time, she hoped to hear Brandon's true answer.

Thessaly was very clear-headed.

Unfortunately, she was clear-headed while watching herself sink deeper and deeper!

She even understood that this accident was likely orchestrated by Brandon himself.

He was deliberately creating a scene, then playing the hero!

Thessaly knew everything... and because she knew everything, her heart felt so desolate.

"I saved you for many reasons," Brandon replied, "What you mentioned is one of them, but it's a very small part, not the main reason."

"What are the reasons?"

"I couldn't just stand by and watch you get hurt. I couldn't just stand there doing nothing. I saved you because I didn't want you to get hurt, because I care about you, and yeah, because of the movie."

Thessaly said softly, "You care about me?"

"Yeah."

"But at that moment, the person closest to me wasn't you."

Brandon replied, "So I'm really grateful that in such a tight spot, I was still able to save you in time."

His expression held a sense of pride. Protecting the woman he loved... of course, he felt proud.

Brandon himself was immersed in the role of "loving Thessaly."

Acting, pretending to be deeply in love, naturally had to be as convincing as possible, so convincing that he believed it himself, so others would believe it too!

"What if," Thessaly asked, "you hadn't managed to save me, and the camera had hit me, then what?"

Brandon paused.

He hadn't considered that possibility.

Because this accident was indeed orchestrated by Brandon.

Before the person tripped the camera, they had specifically given him a heads-up, so he was prepared.

So, Brandon was the one who knew best.

In the second before the camera fell, he was already poised, ready to rush onto the stage!

He had calculated that he could make it in time.

These days, Brandon and Thessaly had been getting along very well; his considerate and attentive side had been on full display for everyone to see, yet his relationship with Thessaly hadn't progressed.

Thessaly certainly wouldn't confess first, so he had to make the move.

After today's incident... winning Thessaly over, making her his girlfriend, should be very smooth.

"If... if..." Brandon pondered for a few seconds, quickly coming up with an explanation, "If it had really hit you, then the movie would have to stop filming, and we'd have to investigate the whole situation, find out who mishandled things and knocked over the camera! Everyone involved would be held accountable!"

Thessaly listened quietly.

She saw Brandon's eyes darting around.

When someone is making up a lie, they instinctively move their eyes; it's an uncontrollable reflex.

Sure enough, this was all Brandon's plan!

She guessed right!

"Actually, you didn't have to, nor were you obligated to save me." Thessaly looked at him. "You're so busy every day, handling so many things. If something happened to you, what would happen to your company?"

The concern and guilt in her eyes were almost overflowing.

Acting, huh.

Let's see who can out-act the other! Let's see who can perform better!

"I dragged you into this," Thessaly said, "I'm sorry."

Brandon sighed, "Between you and me, there's no need to say sorry."

She bit her lip, "Can I see your injury?"

See the wound?

Brandon looked up to meet her gaze, only to see a mist in her eyes, as if she might cry at any moment.

She was concerned about him.

Good, she was already moved.

After all, what woman could resist a man who risked everything to save her?

"Alright," Brandon agreed, "I'll show you, to let you know it's really not a big deal, you don't need to worry."

Thessaly nodded.

Brandon started unbuttoning his shirt, taking it off.

At the same time, he turned around, revealing his full back to her.

Both of them were facing away from the door, neither noticing... the door slowly closing!
