Chapter 413 Your Good Days Are Over
"No. For Madison, Lucy's her ace now. She wants to protect her at all costs."
Kelvin got Madison's game plan.
He just couldn't figure out when things went south, letting Madison twist the situation into this mess.
After Lucy's surgery, Penelope stepped out briefly. Kelvin was resting on the sofa when Madison barged in, heading straight for Lucy with a clear goal.
No matter how much Kelvin tried to stop her, she wouldn't leave. Even coughing up blood, she still aimed for Lucy.
This was definitely planned!
When Lucy woke up, Madison was ecstatic, calling herself "Mommy" and urging Lucy to look at her.
Then everything went haywire!
What happened?
Who messed with Lucy?
During Lucy's hospital stay, Kelvin and Penelope were almost always there. Besides doctors and nurses, no one else came in!
Penelope even made all the meals herself!
The truth was buried under layers of mystery.
Penelope seemed to realize something and looked at Kelvin. "What happened while I was gone? What did you and Madison talk about?"
The more she thought about it, the more suspicious she got. Her gaze turned icy. "Kelvin, if I lose Lucy because of this, I'll hate you forever!"
But she already hated him. A bit more wouldn't change much!
"Penelope, don't overthink it," Kelvin said, meeting her eyes. "I don't know how this happened either."
"But it was just you and Madison in the ward!"
Kelvin replied, "I was sleeping. She barged in, and then..."
"And then Lucy woke up, saw Madison, and called her Mommy?" Penelope asked. "What were you doing? What did you say? How did Madison get in and out so easily?"
She didn't believe Kelvin.
Something must've happened in those few minutes she was gone!
Kelvin had no answers.
Why did Madison suddenly show up?
His men had been searching for her for days with no luck!
Now she appears and targets Lucy? This was planned!
Kelvin's eyes darkened.
Someone was pulling the strings!
How dare they plot against him?
"Madison was brought back to The King Manor by you, and you wanted to drive her away," Penelope said, full of despair. "I don't care about your issues, but why drag my daughter into this?"
She was heartbroken.
She thought Lucy's successful surgery was the end, and things would get better.
But it was a crushing blow!
Kelvin tried to step closer to explain, but Penelope quickly backed away, avoiding any contact with him!
The harmony in the ward and their slowly improving relationship vanished.
All of Kelvin's efforts were pointless.
"Penelope," he said, swallowing hard. "None of this is my fault."
'Don't blame me. Don't drag me into this. And don't hate me.' he prayed in his heart.
Penelope just bit her lip and stared at him. "Give me back Lucy, Kelvin. Give her back to me!"
"I'll find a way. I won't let Madison get away with this."
Just then, Monica walked over from the elevator.
"What's going on?" she muttered, then quickly asked Kelvin, "What did you buy?"
"Me? Buy what?"
"Yeah. There was a delivery for me to pick up, but I searched everywhere and waited a long time, found nothing," Monica said. "Is someone playing a prank on me?"
Kelvin's expression turned serious. "I didn't order any delivery."
Monica looked puzzled. "Then who did?"
"We were set up."
"Set up?"
Kelvin explained, "There was no delivery. Someone sent you away on purpose. Penelope went to the restroom, and you were the only one at the door, so they had to get you to leave."
Monica found it even stranger. "Why send me away?"
Seeing Penelope's red eyes and pale face, Monica was startled. "What happened? How's Lucy?"
She was about to rush into the room!
Kelvin stopped her. "Lucy's inside. Don't go in and cause trouble right now."
"What on earth happened?" Monica was anxious. "Why isn't anyone talking? There are doctors, nurses, and security in the hospital. Lucy should be safe. Besides, if Penelope and I weren't there, weren't you resting in the room, Kelvin?"
Penelope looked at him. "Yes, he was in the ward the whole time and never left."
Kelvin was at a loss for words.
At that time, Madison hadn't expected him to be there either. When their eyes met, Madison was clearly flustered.
In the hallway, Isabella watched the scene with satisfaction and left, thinking,'It seemed Madison had succeeded. Even more smoothly than I imagined. Now it's up to Madison to play her part. Penelope, your good days are over!'
The sky had completely darkened. Streetlights lit up, and the bustling city remained lively.
Kelvin and Penelope stayed at the door of the hospital room, not leaving for a moment.
They could faintly hear Lucy's soft voice. Though weak, it sounded normal.
Madison sat by the bed, looking at Lucy with greedy eyes.
This was her lifeline!
"Mommy, I'm sleepy," Lucy said. "Don't leave. Stay here with me, okay?"
"Okay, you rest now."
Lucy obediently lay down, still holding Madison's hand tightly.
In her mind, this was the most reliable and trustworthy Mommy in the world.
Madison took care of her, tucking her in gently, acting as if she were truly her child.
When she turned around, she saw Kelvin standing behind her like a ghost, not knowing when he had come in.
Madison was startled, but before she could scream, Kelvin covered her mouth.
He covered her mouth with one hand and roughly dragged her out of the ward with the other!
Now that Lucy was asleep, it was time for him to settle things with Madison!
