Chapter 824 If You Turn Off My Alarm Clock Again, I'll Be Mad at You!

"Hey, don't worry about it. Welcome aboard."

Penelope hesitated but stepped inside.

Why is Kelvin here?

She thought he was still resting in the master bedroom.

Does this guy ever get tired? Where does he get all that energy?

"Mommy," Lucy chirped, "Daddy said you and he are gonna take turns putting me and Sam to bed. Tonight, Daddy's telling me a story, and tomorrow it's your turn while Daddy goes to Sam."

"Daddy also said this way, Sam and I will feel equally loved. Plus, it saves time, so you and Daddy can rest earlier!"

Yeah, it does save time.

But Penelope didn't want to save time!

She forced a polite smile.

After she arrived, Kelvin noticeably sped up his reading.

Ten minutes later, he closed the book, looked at the sleeping Lucy, and then slowly turned his head to glance at Penelope.

That look was like a big, bad wolf eyeing a little rabbit!

"Penelope, let's head back to our room," Kelvin said, standing up, turning off the light with one hand, and wrapping his arm around her with the other.

Penelope felt herself almost collapsing.

But Kelvin's arm was strong, holding her firmly.

"Can't walk?" he asked, "Want me to carry you?"

"No, no, I can walk. I'm just a bit thirsty, I'll go to the kitchen for some water!"

"There's bottled water in the master bedroom."

Penelope's eyes darted around: "I'm a bit hungry! I'll go find something to eat!"

"Such a small matter, I can handle it. What do you want? I'll get it from the fridge."

Penelope looked up at the ceiling, resigned.

The master bedroom door opened and closed.

Not long after, soft moans from Penelope could be heard inside.

The night was deep and beautiful!

Penelope didn't get a good sleep until almost dawn.

She was groggy, her mind a mess, and she hummed a bit. Finding the most comfortable position in Kelvin's arms, she fell into a deep sleep.

"Sleep, Penelope."

She could still hear Kelvin's satisfied, magnetic voice.

Who knows how long it was before Penelope opened her eyes, turned over, and glanced out the window.

The curtains were drawn tightly, blocking out the light, but she could vaguely sense it was a sunny day outside!

"Why are they all closed..."

Penelope mumbled, looking beside her.

She thought Kelvin was still asleep.

After all, if she was tired, he must be even more exhausted!

But her pillow was empty, Kelvin was long gone.

Huh? Where's Kelvin?

He got up already? So early?

Penelope yawned, fumbling around for her phone.

When she saw the time, she jolted upright in bed.

She couldn't believe her eyes!

"One o'clock? One in the afternoon?" Penelope repeated several times, "It's already one in the afternoon?"

Was the time wrong?

Or was her phone broken?

Penelope quickly got out of bed, yanked open the curtains.

Blinding light flooded in, making her squint.

It took her a while to adjust to the strong light and look outside.

The sun was high in the sky.

The garden at King Manor was empty, the flower beds neatly tended.

So, it really was one in the afternoon!

She had slept for so long!

By now, Sam and Lucy were almost out of school!

And she had to be at the office today! There was a meeting!

Penelope hurriedly washed up, changed clothes, grabbed her bag, and rushed downstairs.

"Mrs. Davis," the butler greeted her, "There's breakfast ready for you in the kitchen. Would you like to eat now?"

"No, no, I have to get to the office!"

Penelope hurriedly walked out.

"But that's not good for your stomach," the butler followed her, "If Mr. Davis finds out, we'll get scolded again."

Penelope didn't have time to deal with him, and she kept walking: "Just tell him I didn't want to eat!"

"But Mr. Davis specifically told me to make sure you eat something, so you don't hurt your stomach."

"Please, eat a little."

"Or, I can pack it for you to eat on the way?"

Penelope suddenly stopped: "You knew I was sleeping in the master bedroom, right?"

"Yes."

"Then why didn't you wake me?"

The butler looked innocent: "Mr. Davis said you've been very tired lately, and we shouldn't disturb you, let you sleep until you wake up naturally."

She knew it!

It must have been Kelvin's orders!

He even turned off her alarm and silenced her phone.

Making her sleep until the afternoon.

Penelope had told Tina early on that she would be back at the office today, starting normal work hours.

And now?

On the first day, she was late!

Tina would definitely laugh at her.

On the way, Penelope kept sending messages to Kelvin on her phone.

"How could you! Now I'm just waking up!"

"First day back at work and I'm late, how can I face my colleagues?"

"Kelvin, if you turn off my alarm again, I'll be mad at you!"

"Ugh! You annoy me!"

She vented furiously, sending message after message.

Kelvin didn't reply.

Until she arrived at Davis Group, walked through the company doors, and finally got his response: "Don't worry, I took care of your leave."

Penelope almost twisted her ankle, nearly falling.

She really appreciated his thoughtfulness!

Penelope checked the time; if she hurried, she could still make the meeting!

She could make it!

But as soon as she entered the jewelry department, the receptionist asked, "Um..."

How should she address her?

"Just call me Penelope."

"Penelope, didn't you take the day off?"

She gritted her teeth, forcing a smile: "I finished my personal matters this morning, so I'm here to work this afternoon."

"Oh, you're so diligent."

As the wife of the Davis Group's CEO, her hard work and dedication were truly surprising.

Not just the receptionist, almost everyone who saw Penelope asked—

"Why are you here?"

Kelvin's leave request had clearly made everyone aware!

Penelope couldn't worry about that now; she grabbed the documents on her desk and rushed to the meeting room.

She pushed open the meeting room door, and all eyes turned to her.

She awkwardly smiled, found an empty seat, and sat down.

Kelvin was seated at the head of the table.

He glanced at her lightly, a small smile playing on his lips.

Tina was reporting on the jewelry department's work, her voice clear and confident, exuding the aura of a strong career woman.
