Chapter 1017 Dad and Mom Are Kissing Again
Kelvin turned to Sam with a smirk. "So, do you finally get how I felt when you ranked me fifth?"
Fifth place was bad enough, but barely making it to fifth while Brandon was sixth? That stung.
Now, thanks to Lucy, Kelvin had his revenge, and Sam was getting a taste of his own medicine.
Sam clutched his chest, looking like he was in pain. "It's fine, it's fine, Lucy, go on."
Lucy blinked. "Sam, is this ranking really that hard to accept? Usually, parents are ranked first and second."
Thinking for a moment, Lucy tried to comfort him. "If you want to be second in my heart, that's okay too."
Sam's eyes lit up with hope.
"Dad and Mom can share first place, and you can be second," Lucy said happily. "How about that?"
Sam was silent.
'Is that supposed to be good?'
He was still behind Kelvin!
Lucy looked at Kelvin, puzzled. "Dad, what's wrong with Sam?"
She seemed a bit uneasy.
"Nothing," Kelvin said gently, patting her head. "Don't worry about him. So, who is fourth in your heart, Lucy?"
"Grandpa and Grandma are tied for fourth," Lucy replied. "They're equally important, so I can't separate them! Uncle Brandon can be tied with Timothy and Monica for fifth."
In Lucy's heart, Timothy and Monica were also very important.
Hearing this, Sam clutched his chest again.
Lucy tried to comfort him, "Sam, you're still more important to me than Grandpa and Grandma."
"But I grew up with you! We spent every day together, went to the same preschool, were in the same class, and were inseparable. And Kelvin? He's only been our dad for a short time, and he's already... already surpassed me?"
Sam was heartbroken.
He had ranked Lucy second!
He wanted to change the rankings!
Penelope watched their argument with a smile.
After all, whether it was Sam or Lucy, in their hearts, she was always number one!
No one could surpass her!
Lucy said, "Dad treats me very well; he never scolds me. But you, you're always scolding me and arguing with me."
Sam sighed dramatically.
Penelope, smiling, nudged Kelvin. "So, when you were holding Sam earlier, you were asking him who was most important in his heart?"
"Yes."
"Both kids answered and gave their rankings," Penelope said. "What about you? How do you rank them in your heart?"
Kelvin pulled her into his arms.
"Penelope, in my heart, and in Sam and Lucy's hearts, you are always number one, forever. Your place is unshakable, irreplaceable, and no one can surpass you."
Penelope happily leaned against his chest. "Yes... I'm so, so happy to have three people who love me so much. It's like all the beauty in the world surrounds me."
She lifted her head and kissed the corner of his lips. "Kelvin, no matter what happens, nothing can separate us. We've been through so much together, weathered every storm, and now, the rest of our lives will be filled with endless peace and happiness."
He smiled and kissed her back.
Lucy covered her eyes with her hand. "Mom and Dad are kissing once again."
Sam turned away, rolling his eyes. "Seriously, guys, mind the influence!"
Penelope laughed and snuggled into Kelvin's arms.
The King Manor was filled with warmth, with no trace of tension or loneliness. This was a complete, harmonious family. No matter what happened outside, coming home meant being surrounded by love and joy. Darkness and hatred had no place in this happy family.
"By the way," Penelope said, lifting her head from Kelvin's chest, "when you came back, you left right away. Sam said you had an urgent meeting at the company?"
"Yeah, that's right."
"What was so urgent that you had to rush off on a weekend?"
Kelvin raised an eyebrow. "Mrs. Davis is interested in my work now?"
"Can't I be?"
"Of course you can," Kelvin replied. "After all, you're the major shareholder of Davis Group. I work for you, so I have an obligation to report to you. You possess every right to inquire into such matters."
Penelope laughed and covered his mouth. "You always know what to say."
"I'm serious," Kelvin said, holding her wrist and kissing it gently. "Penelope, come to my office on Monday. We'll sign a contract in front of a lawyer."
"What contract?"
"A stock transfer contract."
Penelope looked at him, puzzled. "Didn't I already sign one? The shares you gave to Lucy are in my name, and I'll transfer them to her when she comes of age."
"That was just Grandpa's shares and part of mine," Kelvin said. "The contract on Monday..."
Penelope gasped. "All of your shares?"
"Yes."
She was stunned and felt something was off. Why was Kelvin suddenly transferring all his shares of Davis Group to her? But she couldn't pinpoint what was wrong because she trusted Kelvin completely. They had been through so much together; their trust was unshakable.
"Why?" Penelope asked. "Whether the shares are in my name or yours, isn't it the same? After all, what's yours is mine, and what's mine is yours. We don't distinguish between each other."
Kelvin tightened his arms around her. "Exactly, what's mine is yours, so giving them to you doesn't change anything or have any consequences."
"Those are valuable shares, not toys to be given away."
He laughed. "Don't you want to be my boss?"
This was a very serious matter, but Kelvin discussed it casually with Penelope, as if they were discussing the weather or what to eat. Because of Kelvin's relaxed attitude, Penelope also relaxed and stopped worrying. But those shares were worth a lot of money! Once the contract was signed, Penelope would become the largest shareholder of Davis Group, the most influential person, and would top the list of wealthy women!
"Being your wife is enough for me. Who cares about being a boss?" Penelope said. "You make the money, and I'll take care of my looks for you. Isn't that good?"
"Good, good. I'll give you everything I earn, and it'll be safer in your account, right?"
