Chapter 899 Sam Davis

The atmosphere in the family, full of mutual trust and respect, was exactly what she had always hoped for, and now it had finally come true!

"I'm good with either," Penelope said loudly. "Grandpa, why don't you decide?"

Liam wasn't about to make that decision.

He looked at Sam. "Come on, Sam, you choose. Do you want Dad's last name or Mom's?"

Sam's eyes sparkled. "Ask Lucy! Boys should let girls go first, ladies first!"

Just then, Lucy came downstairs and, hearing her name, asked in a sweet, childlike voice, "First for what?"

She was a true little princess, a rich girl, pampered and spoiled, always wearing pretty dresses and bows, with long, beautiful hair.

Anyone who met Lucy would be charmed by her adorable appearance!

As soon as Lucy entered the living room, the atmosphere became warm and gentle.

In front of such a well-behaved and cute little girl, no one could keep a stern face!

"Choosing a last name!" Sam told her. "Do you want to be Lucy Cooper or Lucy Davis?"

"What?"

"Which one sounds better?" Sam asked. "Do you want to change it?"

Lucy looked puzzled. "I'm already Lucy Cooper. Why would I change my name?"

She blinked and looked at Penelope.

Penelope knelt down and gently said, "You and Sam both have my last name. So who will have Dad's last name? Isn't it a bit lonely and unfair for Dad?"

"Yeah." Lucy nodded. "All my classmates have their dad's last name!"

"So, we're thinking that either you or Sam should take Dad's last name."

Liam asked kindly, "Lucy, would you like to be Lucy Davis? Lucy Davis sounds nice too."

Liam liked girls.

The Davis family had been all boys for three generations, not a single girl.

Now, finally, there was Lucy!

Girls were different; just looking at them made you feel good. Unlike boys, who were mischievous when young and rebellious when older!

Sam looked at her. "Why don't you be Lucy Davis? It sounds good."

"Why don't you be Sam Davis then?!"

"I can too! I'm just letting you go first because I'm a boy!"

Liam laughed heartily.

When he suggested changing the last name, he worried there might be objections or conflicts, but it seemed he had overthought it.

Penelope didn't mind.

The two kids were very cooperative.

"How about this," Sam's eyes sparkled, "rock-paper-scissors. Whoever wins decides if they want to be Davis or Cooper!"

Lucy agreed readily. "Okay!"

This harmonious scene made everyone around them chuckle.

"Come on," Sam hid his hand behind his back, "rock-paper-scissors!"

They both played at the same time.

Sam had scissors.

Lucy had rock.

"Yay! I won!" Lucy jumped up in excitement. "Mommy, Daddy, I won! I beat Sam!"

For her, winning was more important than changing her last name!

Sam scoffed, "I just let you win."

"A loss is a loss, don't be a sore loser!"

Lucy stuck her tongue out at him, feeling very proud.

"Alright, a bet's a bet." Sam crossed his arms coolly. "Hurry up and choose, everyone's waiting."

Lucy tilted her head and thought for a moment. "I don't want to change my last name. I'll stay Lucy Cooper. So, Sam, you take Dad's last name."

"What?!" Sam's face fell.

He would have to take Kelvin's last name.

Fine, though he wasn't thrilled, he could reluctantly accept it.

"Why the long face?" Kelvin asked coolly. "I didn't even mind you, and you're already minding me?"

"Why would I mind you?"

Kelvin retorted, "Why would you mind me?"

Sam continued to argue, "Don't you know?"

Ever since he found out Liam could take him to see spaceships, Sam had been fearless.

He no longer needed to care about Kelvin's attitude, so he could finally be himself!

He was determined to oppose Kelvin at every turn!

"Who told you to lose?" Kelvin said. "If you had the skills, you should have won."

Sam sighed.

He consoled himself, "Sam Davis isn't so bad. And, and Grandpa's last name is Davis too, so I'll have the same last name as Grandpa!"

Thinking about sharing the last name with Liam made him feel a bit better.

Otherwise, it would just be him and Kelvin with the last name Davis, making it seem like he was siding with Kelvin!

Lucy said, "Sam, this is great. I'm a girl, Mommy's a girl, so I have Mommy's last name, Cooper. You're a boy, Daddy's a boy, so you have Daddy's last name, Davis! It's fair!"

Sam coolly responded and then fell silent.

He kept repeating in his mind—

Sam Davis.

After saying it to himself many times, he finally found it a bit more agreeable.

Accept reality!

He lost the game, after all!

"Then it's settled," Liam concluded. "From now on, Sam will be Sam Davis!"

Connor nodded. "Sounds good."

"I have no objections," Nicole Jenkins laughed. "But I'm wondering, if Penelope has another child, what will we do? Whose last name will they take?"

"Mom, why are you talking about having another child?" Penelope's face turned a bit red. "Aren't Sam and Lucy enough for you to love?"

"I was just saying. Whether to have another child is up to you and Kelvin. We won't interfere!"

Laughter echoed in the living room.

When they left, everyone had smiles on their faces, a stark contrast to the serious expressions they had when they arrived.

"Mom, Dad, take care," Penelope said. "Don't worry about me, I'm doing great."

Kelvin and Penelope stood at the steps, watching as three cars drove away from The King Manor.

She breathed a sigh of relief. "When I first heard they were all coming, I was scared, thinking something big had happened."

"Penelope, this matter is neither big nor small."

Someone was watching him and her.

And they were trying to sabotage their relationship, to drive a wedge between them.

Kelvin believed that person was Brandon.
