Chapter 9

Even if every woman on Earth vanished and she stood there naked, he wouldn't give her a second look!

Penelope hung her head even lower.

She looked like she wanted to disappear from shame, but a sneaky glint flashed in her eyes.

She'd said that on purpose, making sure Kelvin would never get close to her!

That way, she'd be safe.

Going head-to-head with Kelvin would only get her killed; she had to outsmart him.

"Grandpa Liam," Kelvin's voice was deep and commanding. "Don't worry about my business. Just enjoy your retirement. The Davis Family and the Davis Group will thrive under my leadership."

Liam asked, "So, you're saying you absolutely won't get a divorce?"

Kelvin insisted, "Whether I divorce or not is my decision!"

Seeing Kelvin's firm stance, Liam turned his anger on Penelope. "Your father killed my son, and now my grandson is bewitched by you. What right do you have to keep bothering our family?"

Lily stirred the pot. "Mr. Davis, let's talk this out, no need to get physical."

"I must beat this seductive woman to death!" Liam raised his cane and swung it at Penelope.

If she got hit, she'd be bruised for days.

Penelope's eyes darted around, and she got an idea!

She suddenly screamed and hid behind Kelvin. "Kelvin, save me!"

She sure knew how to act!

"Kelvin, I'm so scared," she pressed her cheek against his back. "If I get hurt, you'll be heartbroken."

Liam kept swinging his cane. "See, this is how she usually seduces Kelvin!"

Penelope kept using Kelvin as a shield, and Liam couldn't hit her after several tries.

Finally, he just struck Kelvin on the back with his cane. "Lusting after beauty! You're useless!"

Kelvin got hit, which Penelope hadn't expected.

Her face turned pale; it seemed she had gone too far.

What to do, she's doomed!

Kelvin glanced at her coldly. "You're something else, Penelope!"

Penelope stammered, "I..."

Suddenly, Kelvin's phone rang.

Kelvin glanced at the caller ID and answered. "What is it?"

The person on the other end said, "Mr. Davis, we've found the woman who broke into your room that night!"

Kelvin asked, "Where is she?"

The person replied, "At the LA Mental Hospital!"

How could it be the place where Penelope had stayed for two years?

Kelvin held the phone and turned to look at Penelope.

His gaze was too sharp and fierce, and Penelope turned her head to avoid his scorching stare.

Without thinking too much, Kelvin turned and walked out, not forgetting to grab Penelope's wrist. "Let's go!"

The sound of things breaking and Liam's cursing came from behind.

Kelvin jumped into the car, and just as Penelope was about to get in, he floored the gas pedal and sped away.

Fine, she wasn't worthy of riding in his car; walking was more reliable anyway.

The Davis Family Mansion was near the suburbs, and there weren't many cars on the road. The night intensified the terror brought by the silence, making her feel a bit uneasy.

However, she quickly saw a "business opportunity," which was collecting recyclables.

This area was packed with fancy villas, and the trash bins were loaded with empty water bottles and cardboard boxes. Collecting them and taking them to a recycling center could at least earn her a few dozen bucks!

Penelope rolled up her sleeves and got to work.

She picked up recyclables as she walked, and by the time she reached King Manor, she found a nearby recycling shop and sold them for thirty-five dollars.

She happily went home, only to find that Kelvin hadn't returned yet.

Where could he have gone?

The roar of a sports car broke the silence; the car finally stopped at the mental hospital.

His assistant was already here waiting for him. "Mr. Davis!"

Kelvin stepped out, walking quickly. "Where is she?"

His man responded, "In the director's office."

He kicked the door open and looked inside with a burning gaze.

A fat old man in his fifties, who was Gordon, was kneeling on the ground, beaten black and blue.

Michael stood there in fear, and a young woman with heavy makeup and a tacky aura stood beside him.

"Is it her?" Kelvin asked indifferently, "Are you sure?"

The woman from that night was soft and charming, with a fresh and gentle look, and it was her first time making love.

The woman in front of him didn't match his imagination.

Could there have been a mistake?

Even Penelope's demeanor seemed more fitting than this woman's.

His subordinate answered, "Yes, Mr. Davis. She's Michael's daughter, Fiona Wright."

Kelvin asked, "How did you find her?"

"Mr. Davis, here's what happened. This old man took a liking to Miss Wright at a dinner and insisted she spend the night with him, or else Michael would be in trouble," The subordinate explained, "The director had no choice but to send Miss Wright. Miss Wright refused to comply and escaped, accidentally running into your room during the chase."

Kelvin squinted slightly and walked in.

At this moment, Gordon on the ground shouted, "Who the hell are you! How dare you tie me up? Don't you know who I am?"

Kelvin raised an eyebrow. "Who are you?"

Gordon continued, "Do you know the Davis Family, the top family in LA?"

Kelvin nodded. "I've heard of them."

The old man boasted, "I'm a relative of the Davis Family, scared now? Let me go!"

"Is that so," Kelvin casually kicked Gordon with his shoe. "I'm the president of the Davis Group, how come I've never heard of you?"

The old man's eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at him.

"Using the Davis family name to throw your weight around, you're asking for it!" With that, Kelvin kicked him hard, sending him flying into the wall and then crashing to the ground; Gordon spat out a mouthful of blood.

Kelvin elegantly retracted his foot and slowly asked, "Your name is Fiona?"

"Yes," Fiona was intimidated by his powerful presence, both admiring and adoring him. "Mr. Davis, are you looking for me?"

It was difficult to meet such a rare and exceptional man!

Kelvin nodded indifferently. "Yes. I've been looking for you since that night."

Fiona's expression was momentarily confused. Such a wealthy and powerful man was looking for her?

She had never seen him before, only in the news and newspapers, where she had seen Kelvin's figure!

Seeing Fiona's confused expression, Kelvin asked, "Don't you remember?"
