Chapter 867 She Got Her Period, Not Pregnant

"Sleeping without you feels like living in a grave," Kelvin shot back. "Penelope, let's switch things up."

Penelope shook her head. "No way, not happening. If you don't want to, fine. But remember, you asked me to punish you. Now that I'm doing what you asked, you're backing out? Kelvin, are you messing with me?"

Kelvin definitely didn't want to comply!

He tried to persuade her gently, but Penelope's face turned stern. "Let go of me!"

Kelvin hesitated, feeling a bit conflicted.

Maybe he should just agree?

"How many nights?" Kelvin asked. "Let's be clear about this first."

Wow, he's really cautious, isn't he?

Penelope replied, "I've changed my mind. If you sleep on the floor in the same room, you might sneak into bed while I'm asleep and then sneak back before I wake up. So..."

"You'll sleep in the guest room."

She kicked Kelvin out!

Kelvin's face darkened immediately!

This was worse than sleeping on the floor!

"It's settled," Penelope said, pressing the elevator button. "I'm heading to the jewelry department. Mr. Davis, focus on your work. And remember, don't casually give your jacket to other women or help them out."

Kelvin wrapped an arm around her waist. "Penelope, what if I told you that someone set up those photos with the paparazzi? What would you think?"

Penelope had suspected that, too.

Especially since Thessaly had no idea about it, the photos were clearly targeting Kelvin.

"What I think doesn't matter. If you suspect something, find the evidence and uncover the truth," Penelope said. "With your skills, you should be able to figure it out."

"Alright. I'll get you the truth, Penelope."

The elevator slowly came to a stop.

Their floor had arrived.

Penelope turned around gracefully, waving her hand as she waited for the elevator doors to open.

At that moment...

Kelvin suddenly called out, "Wait."

She instinctively turned back. "What else do you—"

Her words were cut off as his lips met hers!

Kelvin kissed her!

He didn't linger, just a brief taste, then quickly let her go.

"That's it," he said. "Bye."

The whole thing lasted less than three seconds.

Before Penelope could react, Kelvin had already stepped back into the elevator, a slight smile on his lips.

Penelope touched her lips...

Kelvin, that sly man!

This was the jewelry department!

With people coming and going, he suddenly kissed her like that—how embarrassing!

How could she face anyone now?

But there was no way to confront him about it.

Because the elevator had already left.

She stood there, stiffly turning around.

Colleagues passing by had seen the whole scene, and their looks were full of teasing.

Kelvin and Penelope really seemed deeply in love.

Even a brief separation required a kiss.

Showing off their affection.

Penelope felt her face burning, quickly returning to her desk and gulping down a big glass of water.

"Penelope," Tina called out, "you're back."

"Yeah."

"Mr. Davis was looking for you earlier. When he couldn't find you, his face changed," Tina said. "Did you see him?"

"Yeah, I did."

Penelope answered absentmindedly.

She felt a slight pain in her lower abdomen.

Was it because she walked too fast earlier? Or was she too nervous?

Thinking it over, Penelope stood up, ready to leave.

"Hey! Penelope, where are you going now?"

"Restroom."

Tina looked puzzled.

Penelope had gone to the restroom earlier and then left the jewelry department looking upset.

Now it felt like a replay!

Tina glanced at the time on her computer.

Time hadn't gone backward!

She turned to see Penelope indeed heading to the restroom.

Penelope couldn't figure out what kind of day it was.

Everything was piling up!

She'd been busy all morning, not getting anything done, just stewing in frustration.

Maybe she was making herself sick; why else would her lower abdomen hurt for no reason?

Sitting on the toilet, Penelope saw a spot of red and froze.

Was this...her period?

She got her period?

Yes, it had been delayed so long she almost forgot what it felt like.

Cramps, backache, no appetite—classic period symptoms!

So, she wasn't pregnant!

Just a delayed period!

Unexpectedly, Penelope felt relieved.

No need for a check-up, no trip to the OB-GYN, her body was fine. Probably just stress from taking care of Sam.

Now, everything was normal!

"Hey, Tina," Penelope called, "can you bring me a pad?"

"Sure, Penelope, hang on!"

Thank goodness for Tina.

That girl was efficient, smart, and quick—such a gem.

Penelope wondered if Tina and Nathan got together, and she became a stay-at-home wife. What would she do without Tina at work?

Back at her desk, Penelope saw a cup of brown sugar water.

"Tina, did you make this?"

"Yeah, Penelope, drink it to warm up. It'll help with the pain."

Penelope sighed, "Girls are the best!"

She sipped the sweet, warm drink, feeling the pain ease.

"By the way," Penelope said, "Tina, don't tell anyone about my period."

Tina looked puzzled. "Penelope, who would ask about your period?"

Uh...

True.

But Penelope was wary of Kelvin!

She knew, with his smarts, he'd figure something out from her questions about a third child.

He'd definitely understand the marks on her calendar by the bed.

Now, with things tense between them, he might suspect but wouldn't ask directly. She'd keep him guessing, driving him crazy!

He'd held her mistakes over her head before; now it was her turn!

Her chance to turn the tables!

"Hehe, Tina," Penelope said, "I'm just worried colleagues might reduce my workload if they know I'm on my period. I don't want to slow down the team's progress."

That reason sounded plausible enough.

Tina nodded. "Got it, Penelope. Don't worry, I won't say a word."

"Are you sure?"
