Chapter 1035 Is Kelvin Lying?!

Monica laughed heartily. "Look at you! Anyone who didn't know better would think I'm bullying you just because I'm higher up the ladder. Penelope, show some backbone! I heard from Timothy that Kelvin has transferred all the shares..."

Penelope quickly covered her mouth.

"This is important. Don't go blabbing about it. If the wrong person hears, it could cause unnecessary trouble."

"Alright, alright, I won't say anything," Monica said, understanding her point. "Let's talk work, okay? Designer, where's your draft? It was due last week! You've delayed long enough!"

Penelope looked a bit embarrassed. "I... I haven't finished it yet..."

"Not the final draft, just the initial one."

"I don't even have the initial draft..."

"What?!" Monica looked at her with profound astonishment. "Penelope, how did you let yourself go like this?"

"There's just so much going on. I have two kids to take care of, and Kelvin keeps pestering me..."

Penelope's voice trailed off.

Just then, Timothy appeared out of nowhere. "Is it Kelvin pestering you, or you pestering Kelvin? Or maybe you two just can't get enough of each other?"

Great, she could barely handle Monica, and now Timothy too!

They were going to tease her until she turned red!

"Alright, alright, I'll start on the draft right now. I'll be completely focused and get it done as quickly and well as possible!" Penelope promised earnestly. "Now, you two go away and stop distracting me."

Monica crossed her arms. "Trying to get rid of me already? I was just getting started."

"You've said plenty already!"

"Fine, I won't say anything more." Monica nodded and looked at Timothy. "Your turn."

Penelope fell silent.

Timothy laughed and put an arm around Monica's waist.

"You two are such a couple," Timothy sighed. "Your relationship is getting better and better, but you're neglecting work and the company... Are you trying to work us subordinates to death?"

Penelope retorted, "I admit... Kelvin has been a bit lazy lately, not the workaholic he used to be. But when there's an emergency, he still steps up."

"What kind of emergency?" Timothy asked. "The Davis Group is doing great. He just needs to steer the ship and give orders, while we handle the tough stuff."

"But he was working late just the other night."

"Working late? Kelvin? No way! How could Kelvin possibly be working overtime!" Timothy laughed.

Penelope was taken aback, feeling a bit confused.

A deep sense of unease crept up from within her.

She didn't say anything, and Timothy didn't notice her change in demeanor. He continued, "Penelope, during those four years you were gone, Kelvin practically lived at the office. He worked every day, even on weekends. But since you came back, especially recently, he leaves on time."

"Sometimes he leaves early, saying he has to pick up the kids. Yesterday, he even skipped work. Ryan called him like crazy, but it was no use. And you weren't at the office either."

Penelope steadied herself and asked softly, "So, there haven't been any emergencies at the company lately?"

"Nothing urgent. Even if there were, someone else would handle it," Timothy replied. "For something to make Kelvin work late... it would have to be a major crisis, something that threatens the entire Davis Group."

Penelope didn't ask directly, but she got her answer from Timothy's words.

The company had been calm and peaceful recently.

No emergencies, no major issues... and certainly nothing that required Kelvin to work late.

So, what was Kelvin doing that night when he came home so late?

Where had he been?

Was he... lying?

Penelope had just felt something was off, but now she felt a strong sense of crisis and panic.

Sam's words suddenly echoed in her mind.

"Kelvin can't resist other women throwing themselves at him!"

"Men suddenly getting busy always had a reason!"

"Wildflowers aren't as sweet as home flowers!"

Penelope tried to tell herself not to overthink it. It couldn't be true. Her relationship with Kelvin wasn't built in a day; she should trust him fully.

But... she couldn't control her thoughts!

"Penelope? Penelope?" Monica called her several times. "What are you thinking about, so distracted?"

"Nothing," she shook her head. "Nothing. I need to start on the draft. I really can't delay any longer."

She no longer felt like joking around with Timothy and Monica. She turned and sat down at her computer.

But her mind was blank.

What was Kelvin doing that night when he came home so late?

The company had no urgent matters, and even if there were, they didn't require his personal attention.

Timothy, as the vice president, knew the company's situation inside out. He wouldn't lie.

So, Kelvin must have lied.

Why would he lie? What was he hiding from her?

Monica noticed Penelope's mood shift. She glanced at Timothy and motioned for him to leave.

Timothy left reluctantly.

What was going on? They were having a good conversation, and now the atmosphere had changed.

It wasn't the atmosphere; it was that women were so unpredictable.

He couldn't understand them!

"Penelope?" Monica asked. "What's wrong? You suddenly look upset."

Penelope blinked. "What? Do I? I didn't notice."

She even touched her face.

Monica was about to respond when Penelope said, "You're overthinking it. I just want to get into work mode quickly, no more joking around, being serious."

"Alright..." Monica nodded. "Then you focus on your work. I won't disturb you."

"By the way," Penelope called her back. "Monica, have you been spending your evenings with Timothy lately?"

"Yes."

Penelope smiled and winked. "You two are really close, huh? Together at work all day, and still together at night."

"Stop it... You're teasing me."

Monica's face turned slightly red, and she playfully pinched Penelope.

"Mr. Davis isn't bad either," Monica said. "Timothy was right. During those four years you were gone, I saw firsthand how Kelvin turned into a workaholic. That was when the Davis Group had the highest turnover rate. But now..."
