Chapter 880 How Can You Let Dad Sleep on the Floor

Kelvin asked, "Did you have coffee tonight?"

"No, I didn't."

She had just a tiny bit of red wine.

She was afraid Kelvin would find out, but didn't want to offend Brandon, so she took a small sip.

Just that small sip, and she didn't even swallow it all, just enough to wet her throat.

But wasn't red wine supposed to help you sleep? Why was Penelope getting more and more excited?

Her body felt hot, and she didn't even want to use a blanket.

"Think carefully," Kelvin asked calmly, "or is it that you know the reason but don't dare to tell me?"

Penelope shivered.

In such darkness, he couldn't see her expression, yet he could guess her thoughts so easily!

Before she could figure out what was going on, Kelvin's voice came again, "Be honest."

"I sipped red wine," Penelope said, "with Brandon. He brought it specially, it was a good year, and he invited me warmly and even poured me a glass."

"I see."

"Just one tiny sip!"

"Why didn't you tell me before? Hmm? Hiding it from me?"

Penelope caved, "So much happened today, how could I remember?"

"Penelope," Kelvin's voice was cold, "You promised last time not to drink again, and now you did it again?"

"When I make a mistake, I sleep on the floor. What about you? Your mistakes are okay?"

Penelope fell silent.

She did seem a bit arrogant.

"Then tomorrow night you can sleep in the bed," Penelope said weakly, "Alright, stop talking, I won't bother you, I'll try to sleep... see if I can fall asleep."

She didn't dare to turn over, kept her position, and closed her eyes.

After more than an hour, as the sky outside began to lighten, she finally fell asleep.

By then, Sam and Lucy were already up.

The weather had cooled down.

But in the King Manor, the central air conditioning kept the temperature and humidity constant all year round.

This was the most comfortable state for the human body.

So, Sam could run around the house in short sleeves.

"Lucy," he knocked on the door, "are you up?"

"I'm doing my hair."

"Hurry up, I need to discuss something with you."

"Coming, Sam."

Sam stood with his hands behind his back, looking mature, his eyes darting around.

"What's up, Sam?" Lucy opened the door and came out, looking at him puzzled.

"Don't you think Dad and Mom have been acting strange these past few days?"

Lucy nodded.

Sam began to analyze, "They leave early and come back late, they're not as close as before, and Dad even asked if we wanted a little brother or sister. Do you think their relationship is good or bad?"

"Maybe they're having a little argument."

"Then, shouldn't we do something?"

Lucy thought for a moment, "We're going to the satellite launch base this weekend as a family, we can take action then!"

"No way," Sam shook his head repeatedly, "I won't have time to worry about them then, I'll be living my dream, meeting my idol, my hero! How could I have the time to care about them?"

"Come on," Sam grabbed Lucy's hand, "let's check out their bedroom first."

"We might wake up Mom and Dad!"

"Who cares!"

Sam reached the master bedroom and tugged at the door handle.

It wasn't locked!

He shushed Lucy, gently pulled down the handle, pushed the door open, and motioned for her to follow.

They crouched down, slowly and carefully entering the master bedroom.

The curtains were drawn, so it was dark inside.

Sam and Lucy thought their parents would be sleeping together, cuddling, still asleep.

Even if they were arguing, they'd be sleeping back to back, ignoring each other.

At most, one would sleep at one end, the other at the other end.

But when they walked in and saw the scene before them.

They were stunned!

There was a blanket and pillow on the floor, with someone sleeping there. Because of the dim light, they couldn't see who it was.

And on the bed, there was another person!

This was a serious argument!

Sam gasped!

Lucy covered her mouth, shocked, trying to figure out if the person on the floor was Dad or Mom!

Hearing the noise, Kelvin sat up, looking at the two little ones standing beside him.

"Dad!"

Kelvin looked at them.

They looked at him.

Penelope heard the noise and slowly opened her eyes.

Seeing Sam and Lucy, she was startled and sat up quickly. "How did you get in here?"

"We came to wake you up," Sam answered calmly. "Mom, what's going on? I think you owe Lucy and me an explanation."

He pointed at the blanket on the floor.

"Yeah, Mom, how could you let Dad sleep on the floor?" Lucy said, concerned. "The floor is hard and dirty, Dad can't sleep well, and he has to work during the day."

Penelope didn't know how to explain, so she looked at Kelvin, signaling him to say something.

"At least," Sam sighed in relief, "it's Dad sleeping on the floor, not Mom. It seems your status in the family is still high, Mom. I underestimated you."

He felt a bit relieved.

At least Mom wasn't the one suffering!

Kelvin's voice rose slightly, "Hmm?"

Sam realized he had said the wrong thing.

This thought should stay in his head, only to be shared with Mom privately, never in front of Kelvin!

He still wanted to see a real spaceship!

Sam quickly tried to make amends, joining Lucy in criticizing Penelope.

"Oh, Mom, look at you, can't you talk things out? How could you treat Dad like this?"

"What if Dad catches a cold, gets hurt, or has a stiff neck? How would Lucy and I feel?"

Kelvin's expression finally showed a hint of satisfaction.

The kid was teachable, making progress, and knew how to read the room.

Lucy also didn't understand, "Mom, you can't treat Dad like this. You're too domineering, taking up the whole big bed and leaving Dad to sleep on the floor."

Penelope scratched her head.

Every time Kelvin suffered a little, faced a little punishment, someone would come to his aid, standing by his side.
