Chapter 34
As soon as Kelvin finished talking, a voice of opposition cut through the room.
Everyone turned to look at Penelope.
However, Kelvin was the CEO, and his word was basically gospel; who'd dare to challenge him?
Penelope was new here, totally clueless.
"I don't think it's appropriate," Penelope bit her lip. "Mr. Davis has always been low-key and doesn't like to publicize his private life. Now that he's married, he probably wants to protect his family's privacy even more."
What a joke. She was willing to design for herself, but she feared that the wedding ring she poured her heart and soul into designing wouldn't end up on her hand, but on Fiona's.
Kelvin would have given it to Fiona; he spoiled her so much.
So, Penelope didn't agree.
Kelvin looked at her, his voice low. "Penelope, are you opposing me?"
There was a warning in his words.
She had no right to oppose him, especially now during a meeting, in front of the company's executives.
Penelope explained, "Mr. Davis, I'm afraid I won't design it well, and Mrs. Davis won't like it."
Kelvin spoke, "She will like your design."
Penelope wanted to persuade him, "But."
"No buts," Kelvin uttered forcefully, "It's decided."
Penelope wanted to say something, but Timothy quickly gave her a look.
Kelvin stood up. "Meeting adjourned."
The general manager was quite pleased with himself. "I've made Mr. Davis happy and pleased Mrs. Davis."
"Yeah, you're really smart," Timothy patted his shoulder. "Too bad, Mrs. Davis doesn't seem too happy."
The general manager was surprised. "What? Does Mrs. Davis already know about this?"
Timothy shrugged and left the conference room.
Kelvin walked towards the CEO's office; footsteps chasing after him.
"Mr. Davis, wait a moment," Penelope caught up to him. "About the wedding ring design."
Kelvin interrupted her, "It's already decided."
Penelope looked at him, hesitating to speak.
Defying him would not have ended well.
But she really didn't want to design a wedding ring for Fiona.
"Mr. Davis, a wedding ring is sacred, representing marriage and loyalty, symbolizing beautiful love," Penelope finally spoke up, "It shouldn't be decided lightly, nor should it be used as a promotional point for Adoring Cupid."
Kelvin raised an eyebrow. "Are you lecturing me?"
Penelope stammered, "I..."
At that moment, Kelvin's phone rang.
Kelvin took out his phone. "Hello."
"Mr. Davis, help me!" Fiona's sharp voice came through the receiver, "There's a crazy woman here, she's trying to take my stuff! You crazy woman, Get away!"
Kelvin frowned. "Who is she?"
Fiona replied, "I don't know her, but she says she's your mother! This is my stuff!"
Kelvin strode out.
Ryan looked puzzled. "What's Mrs. Lily Davis doing causing trouble with Fiona?"
Penelope, standing nearby, kept her head down and didn't speak.
Lily moved too fast; she's already gone to Fiona.
This was going to be interesting!
Fiona was the kind of person who needed someone equally bad to deal with her!
"Penelope," Kelvin's voice came from afar, "Follow me!"
She still had to watch the live show?
In the living room of the riverside house, Fiona glared at Lily. "I've already called Mr. Davis! He'll be here soon, and you'll be in big trouble for pretending to be his mother and trying to steal my bracelet!"
Lily retorted, "I am Kelvin's mother, he will acknowledge my identity when he arrives! As for you, if you know what's good for you, hand over the bracelet immediately!"
Lily wanted to wrap this up fast. If Kelvin showed up, she might not get away with the diamond bracelet.
Once she had it, she’d be out of there in a flash. Even if Kelvin asked for it back, no way she’d return it!
"This is my stuff!" Fiona snapped, "You're robbing me!"
"Did you pay for it? How dare you say it's yours? This was bought with the Davis Family's money!" Lily shot back, lunging forward again.
Fiona quickly shielded the diamond bracelet on her wrist.
"Give it to me!" Lily, despite being middle-aged, was pretty strong and kept attacking.
Fiona's wrist turned red, almost breaking the skin.
"You crazy woman, help!" Fiona shouted, "I bought this bracelet myself, it has nothing to do with you or the Davis Family!"
"Don't try to fool me!" Lily grabbed Fiona's wrist with one hand and yanked the bracelet off with the other.
She happily pocketed it and turned to leave, not wanting to fight anymore.
"Stop," Fiona wasn't about to let her go and chased after her. "Give it back!"
As they tussled, Kelvin appeared.
"What's going on?" he asked, his face stern.
Fiona immediately started crying and complaining, "Mr. Davis, it's her, she's pretending to be your mother and stole my bracelet."
Penelope crossed her arms and reminded Fiona, "She's not pretending, she really is. She is Mr. Davis's stepmother."
Fiona was stunned. "What?"
Lily clutched the diamond bracelet tightly, "Kelvin, how could you give such a precious and spiritual diamond to this woman? I won't allow it!"
Kelvin asked, "What diamond?"
"This bracelet!" Lily quickly took it out and showed it.
Kelvin instantly understood. "You two are fighting over this diamond bracelet?"
Lily said, "Yes! Even if you gave it to Penelope, I wouldn't say anything, but giving it to this bitch, I won't stand for it!"
Fiona screamed, "You're the bitch! You must have used some underhanded means to become his stepmother back then!"
Kelvin spoke calmly, "It's fake. The real diamond bracelet is with me."
Lily was stunned. "What?"
"Fake?" Penelope was also shocked.
Fiona had even worn it to show off in front of her.
What was going on?
Fiona gritted her teeth. "Of course it's fake, I bought it for fun, just as jewelry!"
She just wanted to show off in front of Penelope; who knew it would attract Lily?
"Then where's the real one?" Lily immediately asked, "Kelvin, you didn't give it to another woman, did you?"
Penelope was also curious.
"It's always been with me," Kelvin replied with a grim expression, "How did you find Fiona?"
Lily pointed at Penelope. "She told me! She said you gave it to a mistress and even gave me the address."
Fiona screamed, "So it was you! You set me up!"
Penelope calmly explained, "You were the one who said Kelvin gave you the diamond bracelet, I just told the truth. How was I supposed to know you were wearing a fake?"
Penelope breathed a sigh of relief.
Luckily, it didn't end up with Fiona.
"I never said the diamond bracelet was the one Mr. Davis bought at the auction!" Fiona argued, "Mr. Davis, say something!"
Kelvin, being smart, already understood what was going on.
Penelope even knew how to use Lily as a tool to harm Fiona.
"Enough," Kelvin spoke coldly, "I won't give this diamond bracelet to anyone! Everyone disperse!"
