Chapter 787 Honey, Give Me a Kiss
"Give Sam some time, will you?" she softened her voice. "Spend more time with him. I'll talk to him too. He'll call you Dad; it's just a matter of time."
Penelope tugged at his sleeve, swaying gently. Her voice was soft and sweet, her expression innocent and pitiful, her eyes watery as she looked at him.
Kelvin couldn't resist. He sighed and held her hand in return.
"This is really my fault. If you had known Sam was your son, you wouldn't have treated him that way, and he wouldn't hold a grudge." Penelope took a step closer, almost pressing against him. "Take it slow, okay?"
She blinked her eyes. "Should I apologize? Say I'm sorry? Or maybe give you a kiss to make you feel better?"
Kelvin couldn't withstand Penelope's gentle approach.
He wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her into his embrace. "A kiss?"
"Yes, a kiss." Penelope nodded. "Honey, a kiss."
Kelvin's Adam's apple bobbed.
Her sudden affectionate and proactive behavior made him a bit restless.
If they weren't in a hospital, he would have pinned her against the wall and kissed her until she was breathless and weak in the knees!
"Penelope," Kelvin said, "do you think I can't do anything to you right now?"
"It's just a kiss. We're married; it's perfectly normal."
His eyes darkened slightly, focusing on her collarbone and then slowly moving up to her red lips.
And Penelope wasn't just teasing him with words; her actions followed suit!
She wrapped her arms around his waist. "I always knew that when you found out Sam was your son, you'd be angry and upset with me. I've been thinking about how to make it up to you, but I couldn't come up with a good way."
"You blame me for hiding his identity, and even more for not admitting that I'm Molly."
Kelvin responded, "Yes, Penelope, you kept me in the dark."
"Honesty is the best policy. You can't blame me for this anymore, no more passive-aggressive remarks." Penelope said, "Got it?"
He raised an eyebrow slightly. "Penelope, are you threatening me?"
"I'm negotiating with you, not threatening!"
Kelvin tightened his grip on her waist. "We'll discuss this at home."
His gaze was too meaningful.
Penelope understood!
He wouldn't let her off so easily.
Even if he didn't care anymore, he would still use Sam's situation to exploit her!
Kelvin had finally found such a useful leverage; he wouldn't let it go easily!
He could use it for a long time!
Penelope swallowed. "I need to take care of Sam in the hospital. I can't go back to The King Manor for a while. Someone needs to stay by his bed at night. He always complains about the pain, and when the wound starts to scab, it'll itch. I need to stop him from scratching."
"No problem," Kelvin said. "We have plenty of time."
They had many years ahead of them. No rush.
"Really?" Penelope pouted. "Even after Sam recovers and is discharged, you'll still hold this against me?"
Kelvin asked back, "Why wouldn't I?"
"You can settle it now."
He kept a straight face. "No, there's no time. Too many things to do, can't settle it clearly."
Penelope was about to cry.
She buried her head in his chest. "If I can convince Sam to call you Dad now, will you let me off the hook? Let me make amends?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"No reason."
Penelope bit her lip. "Actually, Sam has accepted you. If he really disliked someone, he wouldn't even bother to talk, not a single word. He just discussed shares with you, which means he acknowledges you."
"Really?"
"Yes. Trust me, I know my son. He doesn't dislike you."
"Then why won't he call me Dad?"
Penelope answered without thinking, "Arrogance. You haven't called him son, haven't moved him, cared for him, or looked after him. How can he obediently call you Dad?"
She poked his chest. "Isn't this temper just like yours?"
This put Kelvin in a difficult position.
His relationship with Sam had always been one of mutual admiration but also mutual annoyance!
Changing the way they interacted as father and son in a short time was indeed challenging.
Kelvin couldn't treat Sam the way he treated Lucy.
And Sam wasn't Lucy, who could be won over with kisses, hugs, and being lifted high.
The father and son were stuck in this relationship.
Stuck until they could find another breakthrough to improve their relationship!
"For now, let's leave it at that." Kelvin had no choice but to compromise.
"Be sincere, truly sincere. Look, when I brought Lucy back to you, she was very resistant to you. But now, she clings to you."
"When you truly win over Sam, you'll understand the joy of having a son."
Kelvin pursed his lips. "The joy of having a son?"
Wasn't it more like trouble?
Sam was very mischievous!
He wasn't the kind of kid who caused trouble everywhere, but he was smart and always stirring things up in a way that left no room for criticism.
He had his own logic and worldview. For an average adult, it would be hard to argue with him without some brains!
"Yes," Penelope nodded. "Sam is very sensible and smart, just like you. He'll be amazing when he grows up."
"Yes, he can take over Davis Group when he grows up."
"Really going to make him work for Lucy?"
Kelvin asked back, "You feel sorry for him?"
"Favoring the daughter too much isn't good."
"I actually don't want Lucy to manage the company. It's too tiring and a big responsibility. As for the shares, the Davis family's money is enough for her to spend a lifetime. She won't be treated unfairly. The work hardships can be left to Sam."
Lucy just needed to be happy, beautiful, and enjoy life every day.
Sam, on the other hand, was meant to inherit the family business and bear the responsibilities!
As for the shares, when the siblings grew up and had their own ideas, they could distribute them themselves.
Kelvin was quite confident in his parenting approach.
