Chapter 821 What Happened to Sam?

Sam crossed his arms and huffed, "If Kelvin doesn't start treating me better, our father-son relationship is gonna fall apart!"

"Why would it fall apart?" Lucy asked, her big, curious eyes blinking. "Sam, don't you like Dad?"

"It's not about liking or disliking him," Sam replied.

Lucy was puzzled. "So, do you like him or not?"

Sam remained vague. "I like him a little, but not much."

Lucy was completely confused and looked over at Penelope.

"He's just being stubborn. He likes Kelvin a lot but pretends to be indifferent," Penelope said, picking Lucy up. "Come on, let's go downstairs for dinner. Everyone's waiting for you two."

"I'm not being stubborn! I really like this room! As for Kelvin, I'll see how he behaves," Sam retorted.

Penelope looked at him. "Kelvin's pretty amazing. He can get you almost anything you want! This room is just a small gesture. If you want, he can even take you to see a real spaceship. Do you believe that?"

Sam's eyes lit up with excitement.

A real spaceship!

The temptation was too great!

"Really?" Sam asked tentatively. "He can take me to see it?"

"Of course, as long as he wants to."

Sam dashed out of the room in a flash.

"Sam is acting so strange," Lucy said. "Mommy, did he hit his head or something?"

"Don't try to understand men."

When Penelope carried Lucy back to the dining room, Sam was already seated.

And he was sitting right next to Kelvin.

"I'm sitting here, next to Kelvin," Sam quickly said, afraid someone might take his spot. "Don't anyone try to take it from me."

Kelvin gave him a puzzled look, finding it odd.

Just then, the servant brought in the soup, filling the room with a delicious aroma.

"Here, Kelvin," Sam stood up on his chair, "you've been taking care of me in the hospital for the past month. You must be exhausted. Have some soup to replenish your energy."

He ladled some soup for Kelvin, even blowing on it to cool it down. "It's a bit hot, wait a moment before drinking."

Kelvin stared at the soup.

If he hadn't seen the servant bring it in and Sam ladle it out himself, he would have suspected it was poisoned.

Sam was being overly attentive!

Not only that, Sam also handed him the utensils.

Kelvin was completely unsettled.

"Can you act normal?" he asked Sam. "Hmm?"

Sam looked innocent. "I am normal."

He blew on the soup again, tested the temperature with his hand, and said, "It's ready to drink. Try it, Kelvin. Don't go hungry, you're always so busy."

Kelvin didn't dare drink it.

He leaned over to Penelope and whispered, "What's up with Sam?"

"Yeah," Penelope replied seriously, "he's been like this since he went to his room."

Kelvin frowned slightly.

When setting up Sam's room, he had specifically asked Penelope what Sam liked the most.

Then, he hired top designers to decorate it according to Sam's preferences.

The room alone had cost millions of dollars.

For Kelvin, it was a small price to pay if it made his son happy.

Could it be that Sam was so overjoyed and excited that he suddenly realized Kelvin's efforts and became this attentive?

But Sam's reaction was beyond his expectations.

He sat back down and noticed Sam looking at him with bright, expectant eyes.

Kelvin felt very uncomfortable.

"Drink it, I ladled it myself," Sam said. "Consider it a token of my respect!"

Kelvin's hand shook, almost dropping his chopsticks.

"Look at that, Sam is so considerate," Liam praised. "So young and already so respectful!"

Sam smiled shyly. "It's the least I can do!"

Kelvin found it all very strange!

He knew his son well enough to be suspicious.

There had to be an ulterior motive!

Should he drink the soup or not?

Seeing Kelvin hesitate, Sam asked with concern, "Kelvin, don't you like soup? I don't either, it's greasy and hot! No worries, just eat more of the dishes! I'll get them for you!"

He started turning the lazy Susan, putting a bit of each dish into Kelvin's bowl.

The elders kept praising him.

"Sam is so thoughtful."

"Such a respectful child."

"It's great he came home earlier, but now is good too."

"Having a child like him is a blessing."

Only Kelvin felt uneasy.

What was Sam up to?

Penelope, sitting on Kelvin's other side, watched without explaining.

She figured the father and son needed time to bond.

Eventually, Kelvin would figure out Sam's true intentions.

Even if Kelvin was too slow to guess, Sam would eventually spill the beans himself.

After all, the lure of a real spaceship was too great for Sam!

"Sam," Lucy said, resting her chin in her hands, "you look like a servant right now."

Sam paused with his chopsticks. "What did you say?"

She called him a servant!

That was an insult!

Lucy blinked. "Really. You look like the servants in TV shows who stand by the table serving the king."

Kelvin's mouth twitched.

And Penelope was already laughing. "Don't say that, but Lucy's description is pretty accurate!"

Sam rubbed his nose, realizing he might have overdone it.

But a true warrior knows when to bend and when to stand tall!

Once he visited the spaceship, he wouldn't bother with Kelvin anymore!

The family dinner was filled with joy and laughter.

Even Liam ignored the doctor's advice and had a little wine to celebrate.

By the time the dinner ended and they had seen off the elders, it was already dark.

Sam dragged Lucy to his room after dinner and refused to come out, ignoring anyone who called for him.

He spent the entire afternoon in there, unwilling to come downstairs.

"I'm so tired, even though I didn't do much," Penelope said, collapsing onto the couch. "My back is killing me."

Kelvin reached out his hand. "Want me to give you a massage?"

"That's too embarrassing," Penelope said, moving his hand away. "This is the living room; people are coming and going."

She would be mortified if anyone saw.
