Chapter 1094 Why Buy a Dessert Shop
The owner replied, "Well, I should at least be a six-star!"
Kelvin and Penelope exchanged a glance and burst into laughter.
This owner was hilarious!
That was the charm of these small alleyway shops—full of warmth, with friendly and chatty owners. Most of the customers were regulars.
Kelvin and Penelope weren't quite full yet, so they ordered some empanadas.
They ate so much that they had to lean against the wall as they walked out.
Stuffed!
"It's all your fault for ordering more," Penelope said. "I was already full, but seeing you enjoy it so much... I couldn't resist."
"You wanted to eat more yourself, and now you're blaming me?"
"Yes, it's your fault, totally your fault!"
Penelope playfully punched him several times.
Kelvin took it, nodding, "Alright, alright, it's my fault. So, do you want to eat more?"
"More?!" Penelope's eyes widened. "Eat what?"
"I saw a dessert shop over there. It's really popular; people have been lining up the whole time we've been eating."
Penelope was tempted again.
"Let's go," Kelvin said. "Let's check it out."
They joined the end of the line.
The girl in front turned around, saw Kelvin, and her eyes lit up. She immediately called her friends to check out the handsome guy.
Soon, the line was filled with girls turning around to look at Kelvin.
Penelope, standing next to him, felt a bit embarrassed.
"Hey," she tugged at Kelvin's sleeve, "How can you stay so calm? Everyone's looking at you."
"Let them look. I have become accustomed to it."
"True." Penelope nodded. "Wherever you go, you become the center of attention."
He leaned down and whispered in her ear, "But in my eyes, there's only you."
They held hands tightly.
Anyone could see they were a couple, maybe even married.
So, the girls could only admire from afar.
"Kelvin, this is the first time you've brought me to a place like this," Penelope said. "It feels like being back in college. Monica and I used to find places like this—cheap and delicious."
"So, is the food I bring you to better, or the food you had with Monica?"
"Totally different feelings!"
Kelvin tapped her head lightly, "Can't you say something nice? You should be complimenting me right now."
She blinked, "Compliment you for making me overeat and then taking me for dessert, making me gain weight?"
"I just want to feed you well."
Penelope laughed, leaning on his arm.
This experience was rare. She never thought she and Kelvin would be wandering around eating like this one day!
The dessert shop's specialties were cheesecake and coffee.
Kelvin ordered one and handed it to her with a straw, "First sip is yours."
"Are we sharing one drink?"
"Didn't you just say you were full and needed to diet? Can you finish a whole drink by yourself?" Kelvin said. "Don't waste it."
Penelope looked at him in surprise, "Mr. Davis, you actually understand saving?"
"Of course."
"First time seeing it." Penelope counted on her fingers, "Today, you've done many things you've never done before. First time taking me to a small shop, first time waiting in line for coffee and cake, first time..."
Kelvin took a sip from the straw she had used. "Not bad," he said. "Worth the wait."
Then he looked at her, "Penelope, there are so many things we haven't done yet. I want to do them all with you, experience them together."
Hopefully... he had enough time.
Since she didn't agree to his being discharged early, it was fine. He'd spend the nights in the hospital and take her out during the day!
For Kelvin, time was the most precious thing now, and he only wanted to spend it with Penelope!
Not a single moment could be wasted!
Dyeing his hair blonde and visiting small eateries was just the first step!
Kelvin hoped that in the future, even if Penelope forgot him, even if she hated him and couldn't let go, she would remember this day—the joy brought by a cup of coffee and an empanada.
This kind of satisfaction couldn't be bought! So precious!
"Alright," Penelope agreed. "We'll have many more firsts. Today is just the beginning!"
"Yes, the beginning."
Penelope held the coffee, while Kelvin held the cheesecake, occasionally feeding her a spoonful.
Simple yet blissful.
Penelope's smile never faded.
"When you were waiting in line, I felt something was off," she said. "I kept thinking, with your style and presence, you should be pointing at the dessert shop and saying, 'Ryan, go buy it for me!' That would be more like you!"
Waiting in line wasn't Kelvin's style!
He always got VIP treatment wherever he went!
Not clearing out or buying out the place was already considerate!
"Should I buy it?" Kelvin asked seriously. "If you really like it, I can have Ryan negotiate."
Penelope almost choked, "Why would you buy a dessert shop?"
"So you can eat whenever you want."
"I can order delivery, ask a subordinate to buy it, or come and wait in line myself. Why buy the whole shop?"
She regretted bringing it up. Kelvin might actually go through with it!
Kelvin still asked seriously, "But you said buying it would be more like me. I'm just following your wish."
"I was just saying!"
"I take every word you say to heart."
Penelope flicked his forehead, "No need to go that far, Mr. Davis."
Kelvin held her hand and kissed it, "Let's buy it. Let this shop belong to you. Every time you eat their cake and coffee, you'll think of me."
This was his gift to her.
He would leave and never return, but this shop would always be here, forever open.
Kelvin wanted to mark something in her heart.
An unforgettable mark!
"No need, no need. When I want to eat, you can come with me to buy it," Penelope said nonchalantly. "There will be plenty of chances."
She had no idea what Kelvin was thinking.
To her, it was just something she could eat anytime, not particularly precious.
"Let's go, let's go. Time to head back to the hospital." Penelope held the coffee. "If the nurse comes to check and finds the room empty, we'll get scolded."
"Who dares to scold us?"
Penelope poked his forehead, "I'll scold you! Without my permission, you're not allowed to leave the hospital!"
