Chapter 200 Don't Want to Have Your Child

In the past, Lily and Anthony had no way of bringing him down.

Because Kelvin was indestructible.

Penelope remained silent for a few seconds, then continued towards the door.

"The more you want to leave, the less I can let you go," Kelvin said. "No one will take you away from me."

The door closed softly, severing the bridge between them.

Kelvin slammed his fist on the table.

At the elevator entrance.

"Jack," Penelope called softly.

Jack responded, "Mrs. Davis."

"It was you who informed Kelvin, wasn't it?" she asked.

Mr. Jack shook his head, "It wasn't me."

Penelope was taken aback, "You didn't tell him? How did he know?"

"Mrs. Davis, I have not reported your meetings to Mr. Davis," Mr. Jack replied. "To me, your safety is all that matters."

Penelope regarded him as someone she could trust.

She nodded, stepped into the elevator, and took out her phone.

She sent a message to Anthony.

Penelope: [I can leave Kelvin. But first, I have a question for you. As long as your answer is satisfactory, I'm willing to go along with whatever you have planned.]

Penelope decided to focus her efforts on Anthony.

Firstly, because Nathan could assist her.

Secondly, Anthony was less cunning and lacked Lily's scheming ways.

Lily was seasoned and savvy, not easily fooled or misled.

Soon, Anthony's response came through.

Anthony: [Sure. What do you want to know?]

Penelope: [Let's set up a time to meet and talk.]

Meanwhile, Penelope forwarded the conversation to Nathan.

It was time to start unraveling the truth through Anthony, piece by piece!

She had already hatched a plan in her mind, but...

This scheme was risky and absolutely thrilling!

...

At the King Estate.

The dinner was lavish, but Penelope had little appetite.

Pregnancy was like that; nothing seemed appealing, yet now and then, there'd be irresistible cravings!

Penelope said, "I'm done," she said after eating a small bowl of rice. I need to head back and work on the draft."

Her work had fallen behind in recent days, and she was eager to catch up.

Back in her room, Penelope opened her purse and took out her prenatal vitamins.

Just as she poured some into her hand, Kelvin's voice suddenly intruded. "What are you taking?"

Penelope was startled, and the pills spilled out.

The white tablets scattered at her feet, glaringly obvious.

Kelvin approached and picked one up, examining it between his fingers.

"I'm taking vitamins," Penelope quickly regained her composure. "Is there a problem?"

With that, she shook the bottle in her hand.

Thankfully, she'd swapped the labels earlier, or her secret would be out.

"Vitamins?" Kelvin questioned.

"Yes," Penelope replied. "The doctor said I'm deficient, and I should take these regularly to supplement."

"Why do you look scared, then?" Kelvin asked.

She retorted, "I'm not scared. How was I to know you'd suddenly show up and speak? I thought you were still in the dining room."

Penelope strove to maintain her calm, squatting down to throw the pills into the trash. "What a waste; I'll have to buy more."

"Let me get them for you tomorrow," Kelvin offered, glancing at the bottle she held.

Penelope refused, "No need, I can get them myself."

"You do need to take good care of yourself," Kelvin added. "Especially since we're trying for a baby."

Penelope looked up at him.

"This weekend, I'll take you to the hospital for a comprehensive checkup," Kelvin continued. We should ensure you're in good health."

Penelope objected immediately, saying, "I don't want to go."

"Why not?" he asked.

"I... I don't like hospitals," she answered, "the smell of disinfectant makes me feel sick."
"It's just a checkup."

Penelope grew anxious.

If Kelvin insisted on this hospital visit, her pregnancy would undoubtedly be exposed!

Once he knew, he would double down on keeping her, removing any chance of escape, and moreover...

The baby would end up his!

Gritting her teeth, Penelope turned away, her back to him. "Kelvin, do you have any idea that every time I go to the hospital, I think of that baby that we lost? Especially when you insist on taking me there, it terrifies me even more! I'm scarred, emotionally," she remarked sharply.

Silence fell behind her.

Penelope explained, "I know my body better than anyone. I've been eating well and taking care of myself, which is a far cry better than when I was cooped up in that mental health facility. I'm recovering fast. Besides, I've been through the wringer before, and if I could survive that, this is a walk in the park."

Penelope was still determining if Kelvin would buy her explanation.

But she couldn't keep going on about it.

Oversharing would give the impression that she was hiding something.

As fear gripped her, warmth suddenly enveloped her back; she found herself drawn into Kelvin's embrace.

"Penelope, I genuinely want to have a baby with you," said Kelvin, his voice low and resonant.

"I don't." Penelope retorted. "Stop projecting your desires onto me!"

"But you're the only one I want to have a child with," he insisted.

Penelope startled, and emphasized, "My child?"

"Yes, only if it's yours, and only with you," Kelvin affirmed, "If you're not willing, then I guess... I'll be childless for life."

"Do you know what you are saying?" she asked, perplexed.

"I do, and I've thought about it," he continued, "If you're so against it, then we won't have kids; it's up to you. Who said everyone on this earth has to leave behind offspring?"

Penelope bit her lower lip hard.

For most men, continuing the family line was a given.

And for someone like Kelvin from a wealthy background...

Yet here he was, saying if she didn't want them, they wouldn't have kids.

He could compromise to that extent!

"Pregnancy is tough and draining; it takes a toll on your body, accelerating aging..." Kelvin murmured, nuzzling her neck, "I'd rather you stay forever young and beautiful, sparing you that hardship."

Penelope couldn't help but correct him, "Kelvin, you've got it all wrong. It's not that I don't want children; I don't want to have children with you!"

His breath hitched, and his arms unconsciously tightened around her.

Squeezing Penelope a bit too tightly.

"You're not going to have children with any other man," Kelvin stated stubbornly. "What I can't have, nobody else can, either!"

Penelope tried to respond, but he silenced her with a fervent kiss.

His kiss was deep and urgent, leaving Penelope breathless, her legs weak, forcing her to lean on him for support.

Kelvin didn't want to hear any more hurtful words.

They would make him upset and angry, and he might lose control and hurt her.

And hurting her was the last thing he wanted; it pained him tenfold.

"Kelvin-" Attempting to speak, Penelope had inadvertently given him an opportunity.

Their kiss left her panting and flushed.

By the time Kelvin released her, her lips were even more alluringly red.

"Penelope," he said with a teasing smile, "William mentioned you could get pregnant easily. Maybe soon, we'll have some good news."
