Chapter 417 Do you think I hid Madison

"I'm coming," Madison called, hurrying out of the kitchen. "Oh, Penelope, you're early."

"Mommy, why is she here again?"

"She's bored. Just ignore her," Madison said. Lucy nodded, clinging to Madison and hiding behind her.

Penelope forced a smile, even though she felt hurt. She knew this might happen.

Kelvin had warned her not to come, saying it would upset her, but she missed Lucy too much.

"I made breakfast," Penelope said, placing a lunchbox on the table. "I brought it over so it's warm. Lucy can have some.."

Madison glanced at it. "Take it away."

"I made it for Lucy."

"I know. Take it away. Who knows what you put in there? What if Lucy gets sick?"

Penelope held back her anger. "Would I harm Lucy?"

"Who knows? Hurry up. Lucy won't eat your food!"

Madison shoved the lunchbox back at her and pushed her away.

Penelope looked at Lucy.

"I won't eat it because Mommy makes my food," Lucy said softly. "Thanks, but you don't need to bring food anymore."

"Lucy."

Penelope bit her lip to hold back tears.

"Sorry," Lucy added, waving. "Bye-bye."

Madison and Lucy were both pushing her away. Even though she expected it, it still hurt.

Madison snorted and turned to Lucy. "Wait a moment. I'll be done soon. Be good."

"Okay!"

Penelope felt like an outsider. She walked out of the hospital room, head down, until she bumped into someone.

"Penelope," Kelvin said, patting her head. "It's okay. Lucy didn't mean it. She still loves her Mommy. She just doesn't recognize you right now."

Penelope clutched the lunchbox tightly, unable to speak.

"I found a doctor," Kelvin whispered. "He'll sedate Lucy and then examine her to find out what's wrong and treat her."

Penelope's eyes brightened. "When?"

"Today."

He couldn't let Madison monopolize Lucy any longer.

Penelope felt hopeful again. "Okay!"

Seeing her so full of life, Kelvin smiled a little.

"I'll go find the doctor and ask about Lucy's condition," Penelope said, concerned. "Madison isn't that meticulous."

"Okay."

Kelvin had already asked, but he let her go to keep her busy and less sad.

As she disappeared, Kelvin's smile faded, and his eyes turned cold.

Kelvin was about to enter the hospital room when he spotted Brandon coming out of the elevator.

He paused and walked over to him.

"Mr. Davis," Brandon greeted, holding a fruit basket and a stuffed animal. "I came to see Lucy. Brought some fruit."

Kelvin stared at him. "What's your relationship with Madison?"

Brandon looked confused. "What are you talking about?"

He and Madison? No way.

"A few days ago, Madison was running around LA, spreading rumors that Penelope wasn't dead and had come back to life," Kelvin said. "You know about this, right?"

"Yeah, I've heard."

"Madison escaped from my men. The last place she was seen was near the Walker family. After that, she vanished."

Brandon finally got it. "You think I hid Madison?"

"Wasn't it you?"

"Of course not!" Brandon denied. "I have no connection with her!"

In fact, he despised Madison. A scheming, two-faced woman with a face similar to Penelope's!

Kelvin narrowed his eyes. "Then why did Madison disappear near the Walker family and suddenly show up in Lucy's ward yesterday?"

Brandon was puzzled again. "What are you trying to say?"

He thought for a moment and asked, "Madison rushed into the ward? Did she do anything to Lucy? Is Lucy okay?"

"You really don't know?"

"Don't know what?"

Kelvin's face darkened. "Lucy is experiencing cognitive confusion. She thinks Madison is Penelope and calls her Mommy, not recognizing Penelope at all."

Brandon was shocked. "Is that true?"

"Yes. Now, Lucy won't let anyone else near her, especially me and Penelope."

"How could this happen?" Brandon's expression turned serious. "Penelope must be heartbroken!"

The Lucy she raised was calling another woman Mommy and wouldn't let her near.

Just thinking about it, he could feel Penelope's despair.

"First thing's first, we gotta figure out what the hell happened to Lucy,," Kelvin said. "What Madison was doing while she was hiding, and who was helping her?"

Finding someone should have been easy since all of LA was Kelvin's territory.

But Madison seemed to have vanished into thin air, leaving no trace.

Madison couldn't have done this alone; someone skilled must be advising her!

Brandon looked at Kelvin. "I swear I have no connection with Madison and would never help her harm Penelope!"

"But Madison's last appearance was near the Walker family!"

"I'll investigate and give you an explanation," Brandon said. "And if you need my help with anything else, just let me know!"

Seeing Brandon's earnest expression, Kelvin dismissed his suspicions.

After all, Brandon had always been willing to help Penelope and would never harm her.
