Chapter 903 You Even Connected with Mr. Walker
"From now on, if the company invests in any shows or needs sponsors, you gotta put in a good word for us with Mr. Davis!"
Thessaly laughed, "How could I have any pull with Mr. Davis?"
"You're joking, right? Only your words matter. People like us can't even get a meeting with Mr. Davis!"
Ryan, who was discussing the contract with the lawyer, overheard Thessaly and the agent's conversation.
He glanced at the two briefly before looking away.
It was clear the agent misunderstood the relationship between Kelvin and Thessaly.
Normally, Thessaly wouldn't bother to explain.
Such misunderstandings were beneficial for her. Anyone who saw her would immediately think she had Kelvin backing her.
But to Ryan's surprise, Thessaly did explain.
"You're overthinking it," Thessaly said. "Mr. Davis and I have a normal boss-employee relationship. He's my boss now. How could an employee like me influence Mr. Davis's decisions?"
The agent didn't believe her and patted her hand with a knowing look. "Alright, no need to be coy. We both know what's what. I've passed on the CEO's message, so you handle it."
Thessaly spread her hands. "Honestly, I can't even get a meeting with Mr. Davis."
And she really couldn't.
She had tried to thank him in person but was turned away at the reception.
All the contract matters were handled by Ryan and the legal department.
Thessaly's words were true, but no one believed her.
To prove her point, Thessaly looked at Ryan. "Ryan, isn't that right? Mr. Davis is so busy that you need an appointment to see him, and the schedule is booked out for months. How could I possibly get a meeting?"
Ryan nodded. "Yes, Mr. Davis's schedule is fully booked."
"You see, it's not that I don't want to help, but I really can't," Thessaly said. "Of course, I'll help with anything within my power."
She didn't want to be vague and enjoy special treatment in the entertainment industry just because of Kelvin's name.
That wasn't her style, and she couldn't do such a thing.
Ryan looked at Thessaly with a bit more admiration.
While others tried every trick to get close to Kelvin, she was trying her best to distance herself.
"Ms. Winterbourne," Ryan said, holding the contract, "please review this. If everything is in order, you can sign and stamp it."
Thessaly took the contract and, without looking, flipped to the last page and signed it.
Ryan was a bit surprised. "Ms. Winterbourne,"
"No need to review it," she smiled slightly. "I trust Mr. Davis and Mrs. Davis."
Just then, Thessaly's phone rang.
"Excuse me, I need to take this call."
She stepped aside.
"Hello," Thessaly answered, "who is this?"
The person on the other end said a few words, and Thessaly's face lit up with joy. "Yes, I have time. I can come over now. Please wait for me."
After hanging up, Thessaly couldn't hide her excitement.
"Ryan," she asked, "is there anything else I need to do here? The contract process is complete, right?"
"Yes, it's done. But Ms. Winterbourne, do you have some good news?" Ryan asked, his curiosity piqued.
He worked for Kelvin and was meticulous and observant.
If Kelvin asked about the contract details later, he needed to be able to answer.
Thessaly nodded. "Yeah, I just got a call from a director inviting me to discuss a lead role. It's a big-budget production, and I'm honored to have this opportunity."
"That's great news. Congratulations, Ms. Winterbourne."
The agent quickly chimed in, "Thessaly, you just signed with Davis Group and already got your first opportunity? Which movie and director? Who's the investor?"
"The movie is still in script development. The investor is Mr. Walker from The Walker Corporation."
The agent's eyes widened with envy. "You even connected with Mr. Walker? The Walker Corporation has a lot of influence in LA!"
"It's just tentative. We haven't signed anything yet. I need to go now."
Thessaly hurried off.
Ryan, however, had a thoughtful expression.
Mr. Walker?
Ryan made a mental note and, after finishing his tasks, went to the CEO's office.
Kelvin had just arrived and was taking off his suit jacket.
"What is it?" His voice was calm.
"Mr. Davis, Thessaly's contract has been transferred to Davis Group. I've completed the process. Do you want to review the contract?"
"No need. You handle all of Thessaly's matters. No need to consult me."
"Understood. But will you not intervene in Thessaly's future roles or endorsements?"
"Let her be."
Kelvin didn't care and wasn't interested.
He had done what he needed to do. The rest was up to Thessaly.
Ryan thought for a moment. "During the signing, Thessaly received a call about a role in a movie funded by Mr. Walker."
Kelvin's indifferent expression suddenly changed. "Brandon?"
"Yes, Mr. Davis."
"When did Brandon start investing in films and specifically request Thessaly?"
Ryan replied, "It wasn't Mr. Walker who called. It was the director."
Kelvin scoffed, tapping his fingers on the desk. "He's the investor. The director listens to him. If he wants someone in the role, they get it."
Kelvin could already imagine Brandon claiming he wouldn't interfere with casting and respected artistic choices.
But in reality, that was impossible.
At this point, everything Brandon did had a hidden agenda.
Starting with Thessaly; what was his plan?
Brandon had already used Thessaly once to get those intimate photos of her and Kelvin.
Was he using her as bait again?
Kelvin thought for a moment and instructed, "Ryan, find two sharp people who are good at surveillance to keep an eye on Brandon. Make sure they aren't discovered to avoid alerting him."
"Yes, Mr. Davis."
"Report any unusual activity immediately."
Ryan agreed to everything.
Kelvin paused his finger tapping and looked into the distance.
The silent battle between him and Brandon had begun.
Brandon knew Kelvin would catch on.
