Chapter 841 Making Breakfast
"You don't have to push yourself, Penelope."
"I'm not pushing myself." Penelope took a deep breath. "You go on out, I can change on my own."
Kelvin's smile widened.
He took her hand and placed the nightgown in her palm.
"I'm looking forward to it, Penelope."
Penelope looked at him, feeling like a lamb being led to slaughter.
Especially now, with Kelvin wearing glasses, he had a refined yet mischievous look that suited him perfectly!
After speaking, Kelvin walked out.
Five minutes later, the closet door slowly opened.
Kelvin took off his glasses and stared straight ahead.
Penelope's head was almost buried in her chest!
She was covering herself here and there, not knowing where to put her hands!
She felt like she needed to cover everything!
Kelvin's Adam's apple bobbed.
"Come here," he said.
As soon as he spoke, Penelope quickly ran over and dove under the covers.
She breathed a sigh of relief.
With the blanket, she felt much safer!
Kelvin raised his hand and turned off the bedside lamp.
The master bedroom plunged into darkness, with only the moonlight shining brightly outside, illuminating her smooth and delicate skin.
"Kelvin..."
His breathing had already become heavy. "What is it?"
"Did you really buy this while you were on a business trip?"
So many people were watching, and everyone knew he bought it for her!
"Silly girl," Kelvin's tone was full of affection. "I went to the store alone after work."
Penelope let out a sigh of relief.
Thank goodness!
But soon, she had no time or energy to think about these things.
Oh, Penelope thought, if she had known this was going to happen tonight, she wouldn't have bothered competing with Sam to make compromises and serve tea!
And Lucy had even described her as an "unfavored queen"!
For her, the time to win Kelvin over and make him listen to her was at night!
The later, the better!
In the dead of night!
She didn't know if it was because she had gotten used to Kelvin or because she was afraid of being late again, but Penelope woke up early in the morning.
And she couldn't fall back asleep.
Kelvin was still sound asleep, his upper body bare, with his high nose bridge, holding her with one arm, letting her rest on him.
Penelope was afraid of waking him up by turning over, but she didn't know what else to do.
After staring at the ceiling for half an hour, Penelope carefully got out of Kelvin's embrace, walked out of the bedroom barefoot, and only put on her shoes downstairs.
"Mrs. Davis?" The butler was surprised to see her. "You're up already."
Penelope felt a bit embarrassed.
She had slept until one o'clock in the afternoon yesterday, and now she was up at seven. Her schedule was indeed unpredictable.
"I... I promised Sam and Lucy I'd make them breakfast this morning." Penelope found an excuse. "They used to eat what I made in the mornings, and they miss it a lot, so I got up early."
"I see," the butler nodded. "You should have told me last night. I could have prepared the ingredients for you, so you wouldn't have to trouble yourself."
"It's fine, I can handle it. It's still early."
She couldn't possibly tell the butler she made that up!
Penelope tied up her hair, put on an apron, and got busy in the kitchen.
Frying eggs, frying ham, toasting bread... she was very skilled.
Even though she hadn't cooked in a long time, her skills were still there.
"Penelope, your cooking hasn't declined at all," Ruby said, helping her out. "Your kids will be so happy to see this."
"I rarely have time to cook now, Ruby. Hand me the prepared filling."
She and Ruby had been working together for years and had great chemistry.
So the breakfast was made quickly and smoothly.
Upstairs, Kelvin woke up to find the bed empty.
He got dressed and walked out of the master bedroom, just as Sam ran past the door.
"Slow down," he reminded. "Aren't you going to wake Lucy?"
"She's still drooling. I can't wait, I'm starving. It smells so good."
After a few steps, Sam remembered something and came back, smiling. "You must be hungry too, Kelvin. Come on, let's have breakfast together."
He was still trying to curry favor with him, almost forgetting this.
How could he ignore Kelvin?
Saying that, Sam took Kelvin's hand. "This smell is so familiar."
Kelvin smelled it too.
What was being cooked in the kitchen so early that smelled so good?
But familiar? He didn't think so. It was the first time he smelled it.
Could it be that Penelope was cooking?
Downstairs, Sam ran straight to the kitchen. "Mom, did you make my favorite ham and egg sandwich?"
"Yes, yes," Penelope replied. "Go wash your hands. Breakfast is almost ready."
Kelvin stood at the door, watching her busy figure.
This was the homely atmosphere he had imagined.
Ruby brought the breakfast to the table one after another. "Penelope made all of this herself. She worked hard all morning.Try it."
"Let's wait for Mom to eat together," Lucy said. "Cooking is hard work, and we shouldn't start without her."
"Good girl."
Penelope brought over a pot. "It's not hard, it's simple. Eat while it's hot."
"It's been so long since we had Mom's breakfast," Lucy said with a smile. "It smells so good."
Sam was already devouring his sandwich, too busy to talk!
Kelvin took a sip of freshly ground soy milk. "Looks like you had a good rest last night, Penelope."
That was suggestive...
Penelope understood.
But she pretended not to hear.
"Mom, you eat too," Lucy, always considerate, said. "It tastes really good."
"Okay, here, Lucy, drink your milk and grow tall."
The breakfast spread was all made by Penelope.
It was abundant and homely.
But... Penelope picked up her fork and found she had no appetite.
Looking at the eggs she had fried herself, she felt a bit nauseous, thinking they were greasy and she couldn't eat.
Maybe it was because she hadn't gotten up this early in a long time, and she had no appetite.
Penelope only drank a few sips of milk and ate a few bites of salad.
"What's wrong?" Kelvin noticed something was off. "You haven't eaten much."
"Seeing you all enjoy it is enough for me."
"You need to eat too."
"I..." Penelope patted her stomach. "I'm already full."
Seeing her eat so little, Kelvin frowned but didn't say more.
Maybe she was tired from last night, and she got up early to make breakfast for them. It was normal for her to have no appetite.
