Chapter 966 Promise Me, Protect Thessaly Well

Thessaly didn't turn him down; actually, from the way she acted and the look on her face, she seemed to really enjoy Brandon's attention.

Brandon was definitely chasing her.

He was determined to win her over for love!

He wanted to have her completely under his spell, make her listen to him, love him deeply, and be willing to give him everything!

I mean, with Brandon's charm, what woman wouldn't want to be with him?

Thessaly used to have feelings for him, too!

Looking back now, she felt she was so naive and innocent back then!

A guy who could hurt and destroy the woman he claimed to love should be kept at arm's length!

No problem, she could play along.

If Brandon was putting on a show, she could act too. Let's see who was the better actor—him or her, a professionally trained actress!

He played the devoted man, while she'd play the smitten woman!

Watching the Bentley drive away, Penelope was still in a daze.

She couldn't wrap her head around it.

Paul had taken Thessaly's innocence, Brandon was Paul's investor, and Brandon liked Thessaly and might have had a thing with her, yet Brandon and Thessaly could still end up together?

Mutual attraction?

This... this was just too tangled!

On the way back to the office, Penelope was lost in thought.

If Brandon and Thessaly could be together, that would be perfect.

Thessaly was a good girl, a major star, beautiful, with a great personality, and very upright.

Brandon was also a rare good man, with a good temper, gentle, well-mannered, successful, and respectful of women.

The two of them together could only be described as a match made in heaven.

Perfect! But... Paul had violated Thessaly.

If they could both move past and forget about it, and still come together, that would be wonderful!

The elevator doors opened, and Penelope was about to step out, but paused at the scene outside.

This wasn't the jewelry department?

"Mrs. Davis?" Ryan greeted her warmly, "You're here, please come in."

Ryan held the elevator door, bowing respectfully.

Penelope realized she had been so lost in thought that she took the wrong elevator and ended up at Kelvin's office.

Since she was already here, maybe she should see Kelvin?

She wasn't particularly busy today.

"Mrs. Davis," Ryan reminded her, "Mr. Davis is in his office; you can go right in."

Penelope looked at him, "Are you trying to get me to see Kelvin because he's in a bad mood and taking it out on you guys?"

"Mrs. Davis, you nailed it."

Ryan glanced around, then lowered his voice, "The marketing director just got a severe scolding from him and left. No one dares to go into Mr. Davis's office right now! Only you can calm Mr. Davis's anger!"

Penelope nodded and pushed the door open.

"I said not to come... Penelope?"

Kelvin's angry voice softened instantly.

He looked up at her, "Why is it you?"

"Can't I come?" Penelope smiled, glancing at the scattered papers on the floor, "What are you mad about now? Getting angry all the time will make you age faster and isn't good for your health."

She crouched down to pick up the papers.

Kelvin couldn't bear to let her do that, so he quickly stepped forward, took the papers from her hands, and tossed them onto the desk.

"What brings you here?" Kelvin asked, a bit surprised. "Did you miss me?"

"...Yeah, I missed you. Every moment of every day. A day without seeing you feels like three years."

Kelvin pulled her into his arms, breathing in her subtle scent, his mood gradually calming.

"Even though I know you're just saying that to make me happy, it really does make me happy," Kelvin said. "If you miss me, come see me more often."

"To watch you get mad?"

Kelvin frowned, "That's because they didn't do their jobs right."

Penelope raised her hand to smooth the wrinkles on his forehead. "Don't be angry. You've already got frown lines... and with your silver hair, you're starting to look like an old man."

Kelvin sighed, "Are you calling me old?"

"I wouldn't dare."

Kelvin hugged her tighter. "What do you need? Just tell me."

How could it be that she just missed him?

His Penelope, every time she came to see him, it wasn't just because she missed him; there was always something else.

Only when he went to see her was it purely because he missed her.

In this love story, Kelvin was acutely aware that he was falling deeper and deeper in love.

But he was willing to... sink into it!

"I ran into Thessaly when I was getting coffee," Penelope said. "She... talked to me about some things."

Kelvin, of course, knew what it was about.

He had asked Thessaly to talk to her.

However, he feigned ignorance and asked, "What did she say?"

"She said that night, nothing happened between Brandon and me," Penelope answered truthfully. "She told me to believe her, that she doesn't have evidence now, but she will eventually. She also said... she wants revenge."

"I asked if she had any leads, and she admitted it. But she didn't want to say more or have us involved."

Penelope was worried, "Kelvin, could Thessaly be in danger? What does she know or what information has she gotten?"

He looked into her eyes, "Penelope, do you believe what Thessaly said?"

She thought for a moment and nodded.

She did.

She completely trusted Thessaly's character!

And Thessaly was also a victim; they shared the same plight and understood each other's despair.

"Then believe it completely," Kelvin said. "Penelope, you are still pure and untouched, still the only woman for me, Kelvin, in this life."

"But I'm puzzled, why is Thessaly so sure about that night with Brandon..."

"If she came to you, she must be confident."

"I'm really worried about her," Penelope said anxiously. "I'm afraid she'll get hurt again. She... can't take any more setbacks."

Saying this, Penelope clutched Kelvin's sleeve, "Can you protect her? Promise me you'll take good care of her."

"I will."

With his promise, she felt a sense of relief

"Penelope." Kelvin held her as they walked to the desk, "I have some... not entirely conclusive evidence to show you. Combined with what Thessaly told you, you can fully believe that you are still you, pure and unblemished."

"Not entirely conclusive evidence?"

"Yes."

Kelvin sat down at the computer, pulling her onto his lap, his hands reaching around her to the keyboard and mouse.
