Chapter 784 Reluctantly Becoming a Child of the Davis Family

Penelope instinctively sat back down, watching the father and son.

What exactly were they up to?

"Eat. Open your mouth," Kelvin said.

Sam said, "I can eat by myself."

Kelvin glanced at the IV needle in Sam's hand. "Are you sure you can eat by yourself?"

"Wait for Mommy to finish eating and then feed me."

Kelvin raised an eyebrow slightly. "Mommy?"

"Yeah," Sam nodded, "she's my mom. What's the problem?"

"Haven't you always called her name out before?"

"I..." Penelope, seeing the situation, frantically gave Sam a look!

Sam, being quick-witted, immediately said, "I can call her whatever I want. I can call her 'mommy' if I want!"

Kelvin responded calmly, "This is the first time I've heard you call her that."

"That means you haven't seen me enough. I definitely call her 'mommy' more."

Sam's ability to lie was clearly inherited from Kelvin!

Kelvin snorted, "You used to call her 'Penelope' to hide your identity, right? Now that your identity is exposed, she wants you to call her 'mommy' again, doesn't she?"

Sam paused for a second.

Just one second, then he immediately retorted, "No, you're just guessing. I can call her whatever I want; my mouth is on my face, and no one can control it."

Kelvin snorted again.

That one-second hesitation was enough for him to see that Sam was making things up!

He had seen Sam many times and had never heard him call Penelope "mommy," not even by accident!

Today, he kept calling her "mommy," and it sounded so intimate and sweet.

Penelope felt a bit awkward.

Was she being too obvious?

She had thought that if Sam changed the way he addressed her, it might ease Kelvin's dissatisfaction.

Otherwise, always calling her "Penelope" made it seem like Sam wasn't her son.

But Kelvin saw right through her intention to make Sam change the way he addressed her! What to do?

"It seems you've been awake for a while and had a very deep conversation with your mother," Kelvin said calmly. "And it went very smoothly."

He was starting to get sarcastic again.

"Sam calling me 'mommy' is only natural. If you want him to call me 'Penelope,' then let him continue. After all, it's just a title; it doesn't change the fact that he's our son."

Kelvin nodded, "Yes, just a title. When you wanted to hide it, he called you 'Penelope.' When his identity is revealed, he calls you 'mommy.'"

Penelope pouted but couldn't argue with him, so she continued eating her breakfast in silence.

Kelvin slowly stirred the porridge in his hand and glanced at Sam.

Sam obediently opened his mouth.

Kelvin was angry at Penelope.

If Sam made Kelvin more unhappy, although Kelvin couldn't do anything to him, Penelope would suffer!

Being a son was really tough.

Kelvin fed him spoonful by spoonful, and Sam ate spoonful by spoonful.

There was an eerie silence in the hospital room.

Before long, more than half of the porridge was gone.

Penelope watched this scene and thought, if it were up to them to reconcile, it would take forever.

She, as the mother, had to promote the father-son relationship!

"Sam," Penelope sat down by the bed, "it was my fault that you couldn't recognize your father before. I didn't do well. You've seen your father so many times but couldn't interact as father and son."

Unexpectedly, Sam shook his head, "No, it's not your fault; it's Kelvin's fault."

Kelvin's hand paused slightly as he put down the bowl, but he quickly returned to normal.

Sam's logic was clear. "He didn't give you enough security, he didn't make you trust and rely on him completely, and he missed out on four years of my and Lucy's lives. Mom, you've done well enough; you're a qualified mother."

"You always blame yourself, thinking you didn't bring me back to the Davis family to enjoy the honor and status of being a Davis family child. You've apologized to me many times. Each time, I told you it was okay."

"I know why you hid my identity. I know I was your backup plan. I also know that if Lucy stayed with the Davis family, you could still take me away. And I was willing to stay with you."

Sam's words made the atmosphere a bit heavy.

But then he changed his tone and lightened up, "Of course, Kelvin did okay, managing to win you back in time and also win me back. If you want to stay with him and spend the rest of your life with him, then I will..."

He lifted his chin, "Reluctantly be a Davis family child!"

His tone and expression made it seem like being a Davis family child was a grievance to him.

So arrogant. In this regard, he was exactly like Kelvin.

Penelope nodded repeatedly, "Yes, it's really too much of a grievance for you. I'm a first-time mommy, and I have many shortcomings. Thank you for your tolerance."

"You're welcome. I'm also a first-time son, with no experience. Thank you for your patience over the years. Although you often twisted my ear, I'm thick-skinned and used to it!"

Penelope was amused.

Kelvin said calmly, "I'm also a first-time husband and a first-time father. I'll keep doing well in the areas I do well. In the areas I don't, I'll improve."

He was never good at expressing himself with words, but he would prove it with actions.

Penelope understood. She also believed that Kelvin would be a good father.

He was very good to Lucy, gentle and patient, never raising his voice or losing his temper. He smoked, but never in front of Lucy.

A complete image of a loving father.

However, raising a daughter and raising a son were two different concepts.

People always said daughters should be raised rich, and sons should be raised poor.
