Chapter 783 Two Men Feeding Each Other, How Awkward!
Four years ago, Brian was assigned to be Penelope's bodyguard, a job that no other bodyguard wanted to take.
Because it was thankless and prone to trouble, everyone avoided it.
But Brian took his job seriously and responsibly, even helping her hide things from Kelvin, serving her wholeheartedly.
Penelope also did her best. Before jumping into the sea, she sent him away, hoping he wouldn't be punished or implicated.
Four years later, Brian reappeared and saved her son.
If Penelope hadn't protected Brian and had only faked her death to leave...
Yesterday, Brian wouldn't have stepped up!
"He will get better, he definitely will," Sam said. "When my injury heals, I want to learn fighting techniques from him! That way, I can protect you better in the future!"
Penelope sighed, "Sam, I hope that when you're protecting me, you can ensure your own safety first. Not sacrifice yourself to protect me, do you understand?"
She added, "If something happens to you, how sad do you think your dad, Lucy, and I would be? Before saving others, protect yourself first."
Sam pouted, "The situation was too urgent, there was no other way. The bad woman agreed to the hostage exchange, so I thought, save you first, and then figure out a way to save myself."
Unexpectedly, he underestimated Isabella, who was so vigilant and didn't give him any chance to escape!
"But!" Sam raised his voice, "If it happened again, I would still do the same."
"Do you have to go against me?"
"Because I want to protect you, I will protect you!" Sam emphasized, "Who else can protect you besides me?"
Penelope was about to respond when a deep, magnetic male voice came from the door, "And me."
The mother and son looked up in unison.
Kelvin walked in, wearing a shirt and trousers, looking very imposing, with his cuffs meticulously arranged.
However, he was carrying breakfast.
It was completely out of place with his outfit.
In the past, Kelvin would never have done something like wearing a shirt and tie while carrying breakfast.
Now he was willing.
"I will protect her," Kelvin stepped in.
Sam retorted, "But you weren't there when it was most dangerous."
"She didn't let me accompany her to the hospital, insisted I go back to work."
Later, as soon as he got the call, Kelvin rushed over.
Penelope nodded, "Sam, he's right. I didn't expect this to happen, so I let him go to work."
"But not just this time," Sam's voice lowered, "All these years, when she needed you the most, you weren't there."
Kelvin pursed his lips.
He understood the deeper meaning in Sam's words.
Yes, for four whole years, he had never been in Sam and Lucy's lives.
How hard and difficult it must have been for a woman to raise two children alone.
And Kelvin was far away in LA, never doing anything for her and the kids.
He had been absent for four years. He missed the birth of the children and their growth.
The atmosphere was a bit subtle.
Penelope stood up, changing the subject to break the awkwardness, "Is this breakfast for me?"
"Yes," Kelvin responded softly, "I specifically instructed the kitchen to make your favorite breakfast."
"Just in time, I'm hungry."
Kelvin opened the food containers, placing them on the table, and handed her the utensils.
Kelvin asked softly, "Can Sam eat anything?"
"He can only have liquid food for the next couple of days."
"I brought porridge."
Penelope was a bit surprised. "You are so thoughtful?"
"Because in the past four years, when you needed me the most, I wasn't there, so I plan to make up for it from now on," Kelvin replied. "Big or small, I will consider everything for you."
He added, "Not just four years, but forty years, until I'm no longer here."
Penelope glanced at Sam, then tugged on Kelvin's sleeve, her voice very soft, "Did you take his words to heart?"
"Penelope, he's right. I should reflect and examine myself, not avoid the problem."
She didn't know what to say, so she lowered her head and ate breakfast.
Kelvin held the porridge and walked to the bedside.
The father and son looked at each other.
Although they had met countless times before, this time, they were truly meeting as father and son!
Both felt a subtle emotion inside.
And neither spoke first.
Penelope occasionally glanced over, wanting to see how this father and son would communicate!
Sam didn't speak, but he was thinking, Kelvin didn't even call him son, didn't coax him, didn't show a fatherly side, so he wouldn't be the first to call him dad!
He remembered how Kelvin treated him before!
He held a grudge!
And Kelvin didn't speak because he didn't know how to start.
Before, he looked at Sam as a mischievous child, but this mischievous child was his own, his biological son!
So, what should he say?
'Son, time for breakfast.' He couldn't say it!
'Time for breakfast, does your wound hurt?' That seemed a bit stiff!
After a while, Kelvin finally spoke, but it was a concise sentence.
"Eat." He scooped a spoonful of porridge, gently blew on it, and brought it to Sam's mouth.
Sam didn't open his mouth.
Kelvin repeated, "Eat."
"I can eat by myself," Sam turned his head, "Two men feeding, it's awkward!"
He wasn't used to it!
Actually, Kelvin wasn't used to it either.
But, should he just do nothing, put the porridge in front of Sam, and stand by watching?
The two fell into silence again.
Penelope couldn't stand it anymore, "Let me do it."
Otherwise, with the way these two communicated, the porridge would be cold before Sam took a bite.
She had just put down her utensils and stood up when she heard two cool voices.
"No need."
"Not necessary."
Penelope stood there, "I..."
"Sit down."
"Sit down."
