Chapter 886 Taking the Risk to Open the Door for Timothy
Monica started to get up.
"Hey, where do you think you're going?" Penelope grabbed her arm. "No one's kicking you out, and no one thinks any less of you."
"I know, I know. It's my issue," Monica replied.
Penelope held her down firmly. "If you go out now, you'll run into Timothy. He hasn't left yet."
"I'll go out the back door," Monica said, looking around. "Your house is huge; there must be a few exits, right?"
"Are you planning to leave?"
"What else? You think I want to see Timothy?"
Penelope looked conflicted. "Why don't you just give him a chance?"
Monica nearly jumped up. "I came to you for help, not to play matchmaker with Timothy!!"
"Come on, it's been years..."
Penelope's persistence finally pulled Monica back down.
"He's not just playing around; he's serious. Give him a chance, and give yourself a chance at love," Penelope said. "If he treats you badly, you can dump him in a heartbeat, and I'll help you tear him apart!"
"And besides, Timothy's a good guy. Right, Kelvin?" Penelope looked at him, signaling with her eyes.
"Of course, they're thick as thieves. Men always cover for each other," Monica scoffed.
Kelvin, who had been listening, had a pretty good idea of what was going on.
"Did Timothy confess to you?" Kelvin asked.
Monica shot up. "How did you know? Did he tell you beforehand? Did you give him advice?"
Timothy had confessed.
Ever since that bet Timothy mentioned in the garage, Monica knew that he wasn't going to give up easily.
There would be more to come.
She had been avoiding him as much as possible, even avoiding eye contact at work.
She even locked her office door to keep him out.
But men were irresistible..
When a man wants to pursue a woman, he'll find a way, no matter what.
So, when Monica tried to handle it by avoiding him, Timothy went on the offensive.
He confessed!
In the garage, he had hinted at it, but this time, Timothy wasn't holding back!
So, Monica didn't know what to do.
She ran to the King's Manor!
Kelvin answered calmly, "Anyone with eyes can see he likes you."
Then he added, "Especially after coming back from Crystal City."
Monica tried to argue, "He was just bored and lonely! He got so tanned in Crystal City, no woman would look at him, so he had to go for me!"
Kelvin countered, "With Timothy's qualities, even if he looked like a pig, there'd still be women lining up for him."
He had a point.
Tall, rich, and handsome—Timothy had it all.
Even without the handsome part, being tall and rich were already hard-to-reach standards for most people!
And Timothy wasn't ugly. Even Penelope said he looked more manly after getting tanned!
Monica had no comeback.
"Timothy's not a playboy. He's serious about you," Kelvin said. "You're the one imagining the worst about him, which is why you feel so insecure."
Monica deflated like a balloon. "Why is everyone taking his side?"
"Just being honest," Kelvin said, crossing his legs. "Of course, if you want to keep Timothy out, I won't let the guards let him in."
"Really?"
"Between offending you and Penelope or offending Timothy. I'd choose to offend Timothy."
Meanwhile, Sam had been pretending to watch cartoons, but he was listening intently to the adults' conversation.
He thought Kelvin and Penelope would persuade Moncia to let Timothy in to talk things out.
But in the end, no one was on Timothy's side!
What to do?
Timothy had helped him before; he couldn't just stand by this time. He had to do something!
Thinking quickly, Sam slipped out of the living room when no one was looking.
He ran through the night towards the front gate.
Timothy was standing outside.
His car was parked nearby, lights on, door open.
He was pacing back and forth, occasionally glancing at The King Manor.
"Still not letting me in?" he glanced at the guard. "New here? Don't recognize me?"
The guard smiled apologetically. "Mr. Foster, of course, I recognize you. But I'm in a tough spot. Mrs. Davis said not to let you in, and Mr. Davis hasn't said otherwise. I can't make the call myself."
He was just doing his job, after all.
Timothy wasn't one to make things difficult, so he let it go.
More importantly, he didn't want to force his way in. He wanted Monica to come to him willingly.
Even if he got in now, it wouldn't solve anything. He hadn't thought of a good plan yet!
The sound of running footsteps grew closer. Timothy looked up under the streetlight.
A small figure was running towards the gate, its little legs moving quickly. In no time, he was at the gate.
"Sam?"
"Godfather!" Sam was out of breath. "I came!"
Timothy looked at him. "Who sent you? Your dad or your mom?"
"I came on my own!" Sam said. "Godmother wants to leave through the back door!"
"What?"
Had he scared Monica that much? She didn't even want to see him?
He was confessing, wanting to be with her, not threatening her life.
Was it that bad?
"And, from what I heard, Dad and Mom are on her side," Sam added. "So I snuck out to find you!"
In critical moments, Sam was the best!
"Come in," Sam said, pressing the switch to open the side gate. "Hurry, Godfather."
But Timothy didn't move.
Sam looked puzzled. "Godfather?"
He had taken a risk to open the gate for Timothy, but Timothy wasn't moving!
"I don't want to just get through the gate; I want to get into her heart," Timothy said. "Even if I go in, it won't mean anything."
Sam looked at him. "But if you don't go in, you can't do anything."
