Chapter 938 Help Me Take Down Monica

Kelvin and Penelope didn't exchange a single word the whole time.

"Penelope," Tina whispered as soon as Kelvin left, "Is something up?"

Penelope's heart skipped a beat. "W-what do you mean?"

She felt guilty.

She was convinced that any second now, everyone in LA would know about her and Brandon.

Everyone would know, and they'd all look at her differently, whispering behind her back!

Penelope unconsciously clenched her fists, realizing her palms were sweaty.

Tina replied, "Nothing really, just that... you and Mr. Davis seemed a bit off."

"R-really?" Penelope stammered. "No, everything's fine... What could be wrong? Don't overthink it."

She tried to finish her sentence smoothly, but she just couldn't.

And she was getting more and more nervous!

"You two didn't talk at all," Tina said, surprised. "Not a single word. It was like watching a silent movie. It made me so anxious, like my heart didn't dare to beat for fear of disturbing you!"

Hearing this, Penelope finally breathed a sigh of relief.

No one knew what had happened. She was just overthinking and scaring herself.

Penelope forced a smile. "We've been together for so long. It's not like we're in the honeymoon phase. We don't have that much to talk about. We say everything at home, so at work, we just focus on our jobs!"

She playfully tapped Tina's forehead. "You should get back to work, too."

Tina giggled. "As long as you and Mr. Davis are okay. I thought you two had a fight."

"Fight? We don't even know how to fight." Penelope said. "If I raise my voice, he goes silent. If I go silent, he comes to comfort me."

"Mr. Davis is that good at comforting people?"

"Yeah, I don't know where he learned it from..."

Tina said enviously, "Some skills just come naturally when you're with someone you love!"

At her age, Tina was still full of romantic fantasies.

Penelope just smiled and said nothing more.

"But seriously, Penelope, you and Mr. Davis were really scary just now." Tina pouted. "Good thing I was just overthinking. As long as everything's fine!"

She stuck out her tongue and went back to her desk.

Penelope pulled out a tissue to wipe the sweat from her palms.

It wasn't that she and Kelvin had nothing to say; they just didn't know what to say.

She felt uneasy, and he had his own issues.

But just being together, having each other around, gave them a strong sense of security.

The whole afternoon, Penelope threw herself into work. Even though she often got distracted and her efficiency was low, at least she wasn't constantly thinking about the hotel incident. Time didn't drag on as much.

As it was almost time to leave, Timothy rushed over to her. "Everything's ready! We just need to get moving!"

Penelope looked confused. "What?"

Seeing her in this state, Timothy was also confused. "You forgot?"

Penelope swallowed nervously. "Should I remember something?"

She felt completely disoriented, her mind a mess, and couldn't recall anything.

Timothy stared at her. "I knew something was off when you didn't show up this morning... and I was right!"

"Um... you tell me," Penelope said, embarrassed. "I'll do my best to help."

Timothy looked around, then pulled her aside and lowered his voice. "Remember, you promised to help me with a grand proposal to win over Monica! You forgot all about it?"

Penelope finally remembered!

Oh, right, that was the plan!

She had come up with the idea for Timothy!

After suggesting it, she had gone to dinner with Thessaly... and then the most unexpected thing in her life happened!

Penelope looked puzzled, having completely forgotten about it!

"Tonight, Monica's giving me her answer," Timothy said. "I need to give it my all. I can't let her reject me again. This is my last chance!"

"What do you need me to do?"

Timothy leaned in and quickly explained the plan.

Finally, he emphasized, "Got it? Don't mess this up... if I fail, it's all on you!"

"Got it," Penelope nodded. "Don't worry."

Timothy, a bit nervous, rubbed his hands together. "I'll go now. See you later."

"Okay."

Penelope responded while picking up her phone to message Kelvin.

Just as she opened the chat, the screen darkened.

She looked up to see Kelvin standing in front of her.

"I was just about to find you," she smiled. "Didn't expect you to show up."

"As long as you need me, I'm always here."

Penelope said, "I need to help Timothy with something tonight, so I won't be going home."

"What for?" Kelvin raised an eyebrow, clearly displeased. "He's making you run errands now?"

"It's about him and Monica. I have to help."

Kelvin pursed his lips. "What are you doing? Tell me."

Penelope didn't hide anything and told him everything.

"How cliché," he didn't hold back his criticism.

Penelope chuckled. "What do you know? You've never chased after a girl."

"It sounds cliché. How did he come up with this idea?"

"I suggested it."

Kelvin immediately changed his tune. "Brilliant, very clever."

Penelope was speechless.

His attitude changed way too quickly!

"Alright," she pushed him lightly. "You go home and take care of the kids. I need to get Monica to the designated spot."

Kelvin, however, pulled her into his arms.

Penelope struggled. "This is the office... there are colleagues around. It's so awkward."

He didn't let go, holding her even tighter. "Penelope, do you see me as just a stay-at-home dad who takes care of the kids every day after work?"

Whenever she had something to do, she left him behind to take care of Sam and Lucy.

She went off on her own.

"No, you're the powerful CEO of Davis Group," Penelope said. "I'm just helping Timothy. If he and Monica get together, I won't have to worry about Monica's love life anymore."

Kelvin said calmly, "I'm going too."

"What?"

"I said, I'm going too. I can't miss seeing the scene Timothy put so much effort into."

To see how cliché it is.

Kelvin, with his reserved personality, didn't like or know how to express himself in public.

He always felt uncomfortable with people watching.

Love, to him, was something subtle and quiet, not something to be flaunted or broadcast for everyone to see.
