"Well... then I want to take charge!"
"Alright, I'll let you be on top... but only above me."
Penelope's face turned bright red.
This guy, talking nonsense in broad daylight!
"Kelvin!" She swatted his hand away from her chin and cheek. "I'm being serious."
He glanced at the red mark on his hand where she had hit him. "I don't care if Sam calls me Dad or not. I can wait. Besides, I'm his father, and that's not changing."
He actually liked it when Sam called him Kelvin. He was getting used to it.
"And," Kelvin raised an eyebrow, "ever since we got back to The King Manor, he's been acting all helpful. This morning, he carried my briefcase, held my files, and opened the car door for me."
Penelope was speechless.
She could totally picture Sam acting like a little suck-up!
At this rate... wait, could Sam be favoring Kelvin because of that spaceship?
If she had known, she wouldn't have told Kelvin what Sam's biggest dream was!
"What is he after?" Kelvin asked. "Penelope, do you know?"
She replied sullenly, "What else could it be? You decorated his room just the way he dreamed of and put that expensive spaceship model in there. He's thrilled and realizes how great you are!"
"The room is already his. He doesn't need to suck up to me."
"He wants to see a real spaceship, visit the satellite launch center, and so on," Penelope said. "I told him that you could make this happen, and he got all excited."
Kelvin finally understood.
Penelope continued, "Sam knows his relationship with you is still pretty basic, and he hasn't been very nice to you. So, he's too embarrassed to ask directly. Instead, he's buttering you up, being all attentive, waiting for the right moment to ask."
"No wonder he's suddenly so attentive."
"Well, he can't say it, so I'm telling you." Penelope glanced at him. "Enjoy it while it lasts, and when the time is right, fulfill his wish."
Kelvin chuckled softly. "Alright."
"And another thing!" Penelope poked his chest fiercely. "No bringing up old grievances! Got it?"
"Nope."
"You!"
Penelope stomped her foot and turned to leave.
Just seeing him annoyed her!
Kelvin stood there, watching her storm off, and said quietly, "For hiding Sam's identity from me, Timothy went to Crystal City, and Monica was sent there too. Penelope, what about you?"
"You just need to... coax me a bit more."
"Oh, and don't forget about the fact that you're Molly."
The door slammed shut with a bang.
There wasn't another person in the entire company who dared to slam the door in Kelvin's face like that.
Ryan, standing outside, jumped at the sound.
"Mrs. Davis..."
This familiar atmosphere, familiar scene, familiar expressions and actions...
It had been four or five years since Ryan had seen this!
And now, it was all coming back!
Penelope glanced at him and kept walking.
"Ma'am!" Ryan caught up to her. "Can I go in now?"
"Why not?"
"Won't Mr. Kelvin Davis..." Ryan made a throat-slitting gesture.
Everyone knew that when Kelvin was angry, anyone who approached was doomed!
He didn't want to walk into the lion's den!
Penelope replied, "He's in a good mood. The one who's upset is me!"
Ryan let out a long sigh of relief. "That's a relief!"
"What?"
"Mrs. Davis, what could you possibly be upset about? Mr. Davis is always so accommodating to you," Ryan said. "Your life seems pretty great!"
Penelope sighed deeply. "It looks glamorous on the surface, but in reality, it's full of torment!"
Ryan was confused.
"Never mind, you wouldn't understand. Ryan, you don't have someone special for you yet. Once you do, you'll get it."
Ryan scratched his head. "I'm focusing on my career first."
"It's been so many years," Penelope said earnestly. "I have two kids who can walk down the street... How are you still single? Doesn't Kelvin care about your personal life?"
"Uh..."
"I'll talk to him about it. He shouldn't just be overworking you. Career is important, but so is love!"
Penelope waved her hand and headed towards the jewelry department.
Back at her desk, she had barely sat down when Tina came over. "Penelope, done talking with Mr. Kelvin Davis?"
"Looking for gossip?"
Tina shook her head. "No, I'm just concerned about you!"
"You..." Penelope said helplessly. "You're so carefree around me, but in front of Kelvin, you're like a mouse seeing a cat."
"Mr. Davis has a strong presence. He's not easy to approach, unlike you, who's sweet, gentle, and adorable. People just want to be close to you!"
"Stop, stop right here."
Tina grinned. "I never would have guessed, Penelope, that you are Molly. I always wondered why someone had a design style so similar to yours. Turns out it was you. No wonder you could turn down Mr. Davis three times, not tempted by high salaries."
"And I didn't expect that besides Lucy, you have a son too! And they're boy and girl twins! I saw the news online!"
Tina, always at the forefront of gossip, had all the details at her fingertips.
"Wow, Penelope, you're like a treasure chest, always something new to discover. Like a mystery box, you never know what's inside until you open it."
Tina rested her chin on her hand. "Do men like that sense of mystery and novelty?"
Penelope gave her a light knock on the head. "What are you thinking?"
She had apologized to Kelvin about these things almost a hundred times, and he still wouldn't let it go.
How did it become mysterious and fresh to Tina?
Counting every little thing with her husband every day was indeed quite fresh!
Tina held her forehead, looking pitiful. "Penelope..."
"With Timothy and Monica gone, the title of Gossip Queen falls to you, doesn't it?" Penelope said. "Tina, when you first joined the company, you weren't like this."
"Well, look at you! My bosses are all so gossipy."
Penelope suddenly leaned in. "Then let me gossip about you."
"I... I don't have anything," Tina said. "I just go between work and home, very boring."
Penelope looked at her. "I just told Ryan not to focus only on work and miss out on his personal life. He said he's too busy, his career comes first. Now looking at you, I think..."
Tina's eyes widened.
