Chapter 840 Penelope, I Bought You Clothes
"Kelvin, don't you ever need a break?"
But tonight, Penelope was all in.
For Thessaly! For her goddess's representative!
"I'll turn off the light first," Penelope said, reaching for the bedside lamp.
Before she could, Kelvin grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his arms.
Her silk nightgown was smooth and soft, and Penelope could feel the contours of his muscles.
She swallowed hard. "Turn off the light."
"We've been married for years, and you're still shy?"
"You know it, so why do you have to say it?"
Kelvin's hand rested on her waist, lazily patting her like he was soothing a child.
He didn't make any further moves, just held her like that.
"Penelope," he called after a while.
"What?"
"I can start dealing with the Thessaly matter tomorrow."
Penelope was overjoyed and looked up at him. "Really?"
"When have I ever not kept a promise to you?"
"My dear, you're so..."
"Shh." Kelvin placed a finger on her lips, stopping her from continuing. "Save the sweet talk for later."
Penelope blinked.
She rested her chin on his chest, kicked off her slippers, and climbed into bed, finding the most comfortable position in his arms.
"Do you have any requests?" Penelope asked. "I'll do my best to fulfill them."
She thought that he wouldn't ask for anything too outrageous, would he?
Maybe if she gritted her teeth, closed her eyes, and steeled her heart, she could do it.
"I don't have any requests," Kelvin said. "In the closet, the second drawer on the right, there's an outfit. I bought it for you at the mall. The color suits you."
"You bought me clothes? When?"
How did Penelope not know?
Because Kelvin's way of buying clothes was completely different from that of normal people!
He didn't go to the mall or shop online. He would choose a brand and have the store manager send over all the latest styles.
If they were decent, he'd keep them all.
It was basically, "Not this one, not this one, but I'll take all the rest."
So, what clothes did he personally go to the mall to buy?
"Last time, when I was inspecting one of our department stores," Kelvin replied. "I passed by and bought it on a whim."
So that's how it was.
She thought that she was with him almost every day. How could she not know what he was up to?
"Should I go take a look?"
"Go ahead." Kelvin let go, looking relaxed. "You'll like it."
Even if she didn't like it, she had to say she did!
This was the golden opportunity to make him happy!
Penelope got out of bed and walked to the closet.
"The second drawer on the right," she muttered to herself, searching. "Here it is."
She was curious about what could have made Kelvin bring it up at this moment.
Should she try it on for him? That would probably make him even happier, right?
Penelope curiously opened the drawer.
When she saw the outfit inside, she was stunned.
With a quick "snap," she closed the drawer!
"Penelope," Kelvin's voice came from the bed. "Do you like it?"
Was that even clothing? Could that be called clothing?
It was just two pieces of fabric!
And in bright red!
Seeing that she didn't respond, Kelvin called again, "Penelope?"
Penelope's mind raced. "Where is it? I didn't see it. I couldn't find it. Hold on."
Kelvin remained calm. "It's exactly where I said. If you can't find it, I can come help you."
"No need! I found it!"
"Then, put it on and try it."
Penelope froze.
Put it on?
She had to wear it?
No way! What could that even cover?
How could Kelvin have such a taste?
Hearing no sound from the closet, Kelvin's lips curled into a faint smile. He knew exactly what expression and mood she was in.
It was okay. Penelope was always shy and it was normal for her to take a while to accept it.
He'd give her some time.
So, after a few minutes, Kelvin deliberately asked, "Are you done changing? Or do you not know how to put it on? Do you need my help?"
Penelope still didn't answer.
"When I bought it, the store clerk showed me how to wear it," Kelvin said. "I still remember."
She was even more stunned.
It was one thing for Kelvin to buy it, but he actually learned how to wear it.
How shameless could he be?
Didn't he know how to be embarrassed?
Wait!
And Kelvin said he bought it while inspecting the mall, which meant he had a group of people following him!
With a group of people, he went to a women's store to buy this thing for her?
Just thinking about it made Penelope want to bury her face.
How did Kelvin manage that?
Footsteps sounded outside, and soon, Kelvin walked into the closet.
He came directly to her side and opened the drawer. "Here it is."
Penelope closed her eyes.
"This style is their best-seller, and red is the new color this year. It complements the skin well," Kelvin said naturally. "I imagined you'd look beautiful in it."
He hooked the outfit on his finger.
"Now, no need to imagine, Penelope," Kelvin turned to face her. "I can see it with my own eyes."
Penelope didn't take it.
Kelvin moved it closer.
"Penelope?" he raised an eyebrow. "Didn't you just say you'd do your best to fulfill any request? Changing into a nightgown is difficult for you? I can help you. You just need to stand still."
"Kelvin."
"What?"
"Why do you have such a weird taste?"
He replied seriously, "It's not weird. It's a little fun between us as a couple."
Penelope gritted her teeth and took several deep breaths, but she still couldn't muster the courage to take the nightgown.
She couldn't do it!
"Don't want to change?" Kelvin asked considerately.
"Right."
"Okay." He was even more considerate, but then he changed his tone. "I just remembered that I have to go to the neighboring city tomorrow. I probably won't be back until nine or ten at night. I might not have time for Thessaly's matter..."
Penelope quickly interrupted, "Wait!"
Kelvin feigned ignorance. "What?"
If he wanted to act, she'd act too!
Penelope was about to grind her molars to dust.
"I'll wear it," Penelope said. "I'll wear it!"
She was going all in!
Just for tonight!
Close her eyes, and it would be morning!
Besides, no one would know! This was the master bedroom! Just her and Kelvin!
She just needed to overcome her own mental barrier.
