Chapter 243 Their Child?

After dropping Layla off at the office, Susan went home directly and took Oliver and Victoria to the amusement park together.

The afternoon was the busiest time at the amusement park. There were happy families everywhere, creating a lively atmosphere filled with the joyful voices of children.

Susan accompanied Oliver to play on the mini train and mini rocket. Sweat glistened on his brow, evidence of the exhilarating exertion, while his eyes sparkled with unabashed delight. Oliver then indulged in a sweet treat, his lips wrapped around a melting ice cream cone, a fitting reward for his boundless enthusiasm.

"Mommy, have some ice cream." Oliver brought the ice cream to Susan's mouth. She took a bite. It was sweet. She rubbed her nose against his tiny nose. They exchanged silly smiles.

"Oliver has been eagerly looking forward to coming to the amusement park for a long time. He asks me every day when you'll take him out to play. But he's considerate. He knows you're busy and is afraid to ask you. He's so happy today." Victoria treated Oliver as her own grandson, lovingly wiping away his sweat.

"I've taken care of so many children, and Oliver is the most considerate. He's so lovable."

"Mommy, I want to ride the carousel."

"Okay, let's go line up."

As Susan guided Oliver through the crowd, their bond palpable in the gentle touch of his hand on her back, they made their way toward the back of the line. His arm encircled Oliver's small frame, a gesture both protective and affectionate.

Amidst the chatter and anticipation, a passing stranger paused to admire them. "Such a beautiful family,"

"Yeah, the man is so handsome, so cool. He looks like a prince from a fairytale."

"And the mother is also very beautiful."

"Their daughter is so cute. Genes are really important, huh?"

"They are so charming."

Upon hearing these exclamations, Susan glanced curiously. Surprisingly, it was Caleb, Grace, and Candy.

In the crowd, the 6.2-foot-tall man stood out. He held his adorable daughter. She kissed Grace for a while and then kissed Caleb. They were so happy that others envied them.

Susan was frozen there. She didn't expect to run into them like this.

Although she knew they were a family of three, seeing this scene still stabbed her heart. An intense, aching pain engulfed her heart, gripping her, and rendering her breathless.

Susan kept staring. Until someone behind reminded her to move forward, she suddenly reacted and wanted to escape.

She couldn't let them see her.

"Oliver, let's not play on the carousel anymore," Susan said in a hushed voice, as she thought of moving backwards.

"Why? Mommy, I want to play. We've been waiting in line for so long. It's almost our turn, mommy."

"Yeah. What's wrong?" Victoria asked curiously.

"Let's go."

"Mommy!"

"Do you want to play or not? If you don't want to, don't block the way," someone from behind urged.

"Mommy, I really want to ride the carousel."

"Oliver."

This voice startled Caleb in front. He suddenly turned his head and saw Susan at the end of the line, still holding Oliver in her arms.

He was surprised that she had a child.

They were discovered! Susan quickly avoided Caleb's gaze, no longer explaining, and urgently carried Oliver away. "Let's go. Let's play something else."

"Mommy."

"What were you looking at? It's our turn," Grace said.

Caleb furrowed his brows tightly, staring at a certain spot. His doting on Candy disappeared, and his face became serious and gloomy. "You go play. I need to go make a phone call."

"Can't you make the call after we finish playing?"

"Daddy." Caleb handed Candy to Grace.

"Sweetheart," Grace felt puzzled. Following his gaze, she only saw the back of a woman hastily leaving with a child in her arms.

The silhouette of that woman looked like...

Grace couldn't believe it.

She thought, 'No, how could it be her?

Haven't they already separated? Did I see it wrong?'

Grace didn't have time to think too much. She was pushed onto the carousel by the people behind her. When she looked back again, Caleb disappeared into the crowd.

Susan took a few steps and handed Oliver over to Victoria. "You take Oliver to the restaurant and wait for me."

"We just ate, didn't we?" Victoria was puzzled by her strange behavior. Susan seemed to be avoiding someone.

"Don't ask so many questions. Just go and wait for me."

"Okay." Victoria didn't dare to ask more, as she was pushed away by Susan.

Susan hurried off in the opposite direction.

She quickened her pace. Caleb, who was chasing after her, also sped up and grabbed her.

"Let go of me." Susan struggled like she was caught by a demon, pushing him away urgently. "Let go, Caleb."

"Do you have a child?" Caleb pressed her.

"Why would I have a child? I don't know what you're talking about."

"I saw it just now, you were holding a child."

"There are so many children in the amusement park. You must have seen wrong." Susan denied anxiously.

"I didn't see wrong. Is he my child?" Caleb tightened his grip on her wrist. He exerted a lot of force, causing Susan's arm to tremble and her lips to turn pale.

But she fought back like a dying beast, lifting her head to roar at him defiantly, "Do you suffer from delusional disorder? I said, you saw wrong."

"Should I trust your judgment over my own eyes? Why else would you flee?" he pressed, his tone laced with frustration.

"I hate you. I want nothing to do with you. Is that too much to ask?” Susan shot back, her words dripping with contempt.

Caleb’s threat loomed ominously, a thinly veiled warning. “I can track him down in five minutes with a single phone call. Care to test me?” he growled, his teeth clenched in frustration.

Susan's heart skipped a beat. She couldn’t hide anything from him. His eyes were as sharp as an eagle's. "That is my sister's child."

"You are an only child."

"Can't it be my cousin?"

"I've never heard of you having a cousin."

"We've only known each other for a few months. Why should I tell you everything about my family?"

Caleb didn't want to waste any more words with her and took out his phone. "I see you're still reluctant to tell me the truth."

Caleb held her with one hand and dialed the number with the other.

"It's my child," Susan shouted anxiously.

Caleb's whole mind went blank with a buzz for a moment. "You have a child. Is he mine?"

Susan responded to Caleb with a sneer that made him extremely uncomfortable.

"What are you laughing at?"

"I'm laughing at your vivid imagination. How could my child have anything to do with you?"

"We were..."

"The child is my senior’s," Susan calmly said a sentence that almost instantly shattered Caleb.

He would never forget that day. After finally breaking off Grace's engagement and leaving her for good, he bought a ring and waited eagerly to propose to Susan. But what he saw was her coming back drunk with another man. The man was supporting her, and she had a tipsy expression, leaning softly against him.

Caleb restrained his anger and wanted to embrace Susan, but she broke free from him and coldly said he was just one of her toys.

She had originally thought he would come back two days later, so she brought a man home to spend the night. And that man was the senior she had previously denied having any relationship with.

Susan was the most innocent girl in Caleb's heart, but he couldn't imagine she was a promiscuous person in her personal life.

It was the first time in his life that he had been betrayed, and it was by the woman he loved the most, the only woman he loved!
