Chapter 622: I Am Your Girlfriend
"You look handsome, so I like you," Juniper blurted out, not holding back.
The dude was definitely easy on the eyes. With those glasses, he had that whole smart and sophisticated vibe going on, totally different from the flashy guys out there. He was her type, no doubt.
Anthony had never met such a forward chick before. "Just 'cause of this face?"
"Yup. What else? I got my own cash; I ain't after yours."
"What if I like dudes? You cool with that?"
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure I can change your mind," Juniper said, lifting her chin with all the confidence in the world.
"Don't think so."
"You don't believe me? Watch. In three months, you'll be into girls."
"Not interested."
"Not interested in girls or not interested in me?"
"Neither."
His heart had been dead since Layla married Samuel. From now on, he wasn't gonna love anyone.
Plus, with Nora's mental breakdown, Anthony was in a bad place, feeling down every single day.
"This is just a phase. You'll be into me soon enough," Juniper said, full of herself.
Was she doing this just for the thrill or what?
Honestly, Anthony couldn't stand people who treated feelings like a game.
"Now and forever, I won't be."
"Don't be so sure. You'll be begging for my love one day. It's getting late; I gotta bounce. Give me your name and number."
Anthony just ignored her.
"Why don't you ever answer me? That's super rude, you know," Juniper pressed on, "You scared? Afraid I'll report you? If you don't tell me, I'll say you harassed me."
Anthony found it hilarious. First time a girl had ever threatened him. She looked about 24, around his age, but so naive and cocky. If she was telling the truth about her rich family, she was probably a spoiled heiress. He had enough of those in his life and naturally avoided them.
"If I really did something to you, would you still be in the mood to threaten me?"
"Don't you know girls are good at lying? Even if you did nothing, as long as I say you did, you're screwed," Juniper said, determined to get what she wanted.
"Scared to say? You a criminal or something? There are a lot of those around these days."
Anthony didn't want to deal with this nonsense.
"Tell me. I need to know my future boyfriend's name and number so I can hit you up later," Juniper continued.
"I won't be your future boyfriend."
"How do you know? I got money, looks, a good body, and brains. Having a girlfriend like me would be awesome. Don't you want that?"
"I'm not that bored," And in Anthony's view, anyone who could say such arrogant things wasn't very smart.
She was ignored again.
She didn't believe it.
Juniper's stubbornness kicked in, and she stepped forward, "If you don't tell me, I'll kiss you."
"Hey, don't think I won't. I'll really kiss you," Seeing that he still ignored her, Juniper steeled herself and lunged to hug his neck and kiss him.
Anthony grabbed her hand and pushed her away, "Stop being crazy."
"If you don't tell me, I'll keep bugging you until you do." Juniper lunged at him again, clinging to him. Anthony was exasperated.
"I've never seen such a shameless girl." He rarely criticized people like this, but she was too annoying.
"You ain't seen one before, but now you have. I'm telling you, I always get what I want. If you don't spill, I'll stick around all day, follow you everywhere, and make sure you can't get any work done," Juniper threatened, all smug.
Anthony regretted getting tangled up with Juniper, but if it happened again, he'd still help her. His sense of justice wouldn't let him watch a girl get into trouble.
"Anthony."
"Anthony?"
"That name rings a bell. You sure you ain't using a fake name?"
Anthony just raised an eyebrow.
"Phone number. Spill it. If you don't, I ain't leaving. Think it over. I got all the time in the world to bug you," Juniper pressed on.
Anthony rattled off a number, and Juniper immediately dialed it. His phone rang.
"Smart move, not giving me a fake number," Juniper grinned, her red lips looking all smug. "Hello, Anthony. I'm the girlfriend the universe assigned to you, Juniper."
"No, you're not."
"You know my name, I know yours, and we got each other's digits. We even spent a night together. Aren't we a couple? Finding a gem like me is your lucky day."
Gem?
Nah, she was pure trouble.
"Dear boyfriend, I'm heading home now. I'll be in touch." Juniper waved her phone. "Oh, and don't even think about blocking my number. It's easy for me to find you. If you block me, I'll make a scene at your work, and you'll be in deep trouble. You're smart enough not to do that, right?"
"Bye-bye, boyfriend," Juniper blew a kiss.
"You..." Anthony wanted to remind her she was still in a bathrobe, but since she didn't care, why should he?
Things were already a mess, and now there was her.
Anthony couldn't help but rub his temples. He had a feeling things were about to get real complicated.
An hour later, Juniper rolled back to the Cooper family.
The living room was packed. Aaron, Douglas, Saffron, and Elara Black were all there.
Was this an interrogation?
"Where were you last night? Staying out all night, is that proper?" Aaron angrily pounded the table. "What are you wearing?"
"A bathrobe, can't you tell?"
"Juniper, did you spend the night at a hotel with a man?" Saffron asked, pretending to be all concerned. "Last night, my friend saw you drinking with a guy at a bar. I said she must be mistaken, that you wouldn't do such a thing, but it turns out to be true..."
Douglas frowned, "Juniper, did you go to a bar to find a guy and hook up?"
"Yeah, I hooked up. So what if I had sex with my boyfriend?"
"Boyfriend?" Aaron was furious. "You just picked some random guy to be your boyfriend to spite me and dodge an arranged marriage? Juniper, how could you do something so outrageous! I'm so disappointed in you."
Saffron secretly smiled with satisfaction. Originally, Juniper's blind date was Anthony. She was super jealous because the Eilish family was way more powerful than the Phillips family.
Who knew Juniper would mess it up herself by going to a bar to find a guy? The Eilish family definitely wouldn't want her now.
Saffron thought, 'Losing such a good opportunity, Juniper, you deserve it.'
"That's right, I'd rather find a guy at a bar than be your pawn in an arranged marriage!" Juniper sneered.
