Chapter 458 Atone with Your Death

Susan's room was right next to Oliver's.

She'd been up all night with her son and hadn't showered. So, she finally took a careful wash.

The mirror was fogged up. She wiped it clean, revealing her face. Wrapped in a white towel, her face looked tiny and tired, despite the steam giving her cheeks a slight pink hue.

She was 28.

Not young, not old, but she felt worn out.

The past few days had drained her, leaving her feeling empty.

Her son was her only reason to keep going. The Eilish family wanted her dead.

In the mirror, she saw a lone figure with no chance against the Eilish family.

Fear gripped her, and her heart ached.

She clutched the sink, struggling to breathe.

No, she wouldn't give up. She'd fight to the end!

She glanced at the luxury skincare products Caleb had provided, each costing thousands.

She didn't care.

Her eyes turned cold. She opened the door and saw Caleb standing there with a tray, staring at her intensely.

She tightened her towel, feeling exposed. Her ears burned as she glared at him. "What are you doing here?"

It was obvious; he was delivering food.

"Don't you have any manners? You can't just barge in."

"I knocked, but you didn't answer."

"So, you just come in? What if I was asleep?"

"Susan, I didn't think like that," Caleb interrupted, though his eyes betrayed him. He was clearly tempted.

"What's the moral bottom line for a human trafficker? You're filthier than I thought."

She pointed to the door. "Get out!"

Caleb put down the tray. "You didn't eat tonight."

"It's none of your business. I can't eat in front of kidnappers. How much for breakfast and lunch? I'll pay." She pulled out her wallet.

Caleb sighed. "There's no need for that..."

"Shut up. There's no 'us.'"

"How much?"

He stayed silent, finding her prickly attitude both endearing and frustrating.

Fine, he wouldn't speak.

She shoved two hundred dollars at him. "Take it and leave."

"Susan..."

"Don't call my name. Get out!" She tried to push him.

But at 6'3", he didn't budge.

In her haste, she tripped and fell into Caleb's arms.

The towel slipped, leaving her completely exposed.

Caleb's hands felt like they were on fire.

Susan was so anxious she almost screamed, "You can't look... Caleb, stop... let go!"

She tried to break free, but Caleb pinned her to the bed and kissed her.

Her protests were muffled by his burning lips.

The kiss was too forceful, too sudden. Susan's eyes widened in panic, struggling to escape.

But Caleb's lips clung to hers, making it hard to breathe.

Susan felt dizzy, her vision blurring from the crystal light above.

For a moment, she was lost in his kiss, forgetting to resist.

But when she came to her senses, shame and desperation took over. She bit down hard, breaking Caleb's lip, tasting blood.

He finally let her go.

Susan cursed him, wanting to slap him, but he pinned her wrist to the mattress.

Her face was flushed with anger, but to Caleb, she looked vibrant, like a blooming flower.

"Sorry, I'm a man," Caleb said, guilt and desire in his voice. He felt ashamed but couldn't control himself.

"You're a beast!" Susan spat.

"I love you."

Susan's heart trembled.

But she felt more irony. "Using love as an excuse to force someone? Your love is filthy!"

"Call me dirty, but my love for you is pure. I'd give my life for you."

"Then go die!" she said coldly.

"Then Oliver would be without a father."

"A father like you is better off gone."

"You really have a temper." Caleb smiled.

"You're still smiling?" Susan was furious. If she could, she'd skin him alive.

"I'm sorry for making you suffer."

"An apology is useless; you should atone with your death."

"Wouldn't you miss me?" Caleb smiled deeply. Even being scolded by her made him happy. His biggest fear was her ignoring him.

"Miss you? I want to skin you alive!" Susan's eyes burned. "If you have any conscience, let my son go. Once he's better, we'll leave, and I'll take him abroad."

Caleb frowned slightly.

"You know I won't let you go."

"Are you forcing us to a dead end?"

"No, I'll give you a home. I told you I want to marry you, and I told my parents the same."

Mentioning Caleb's parents, Susan's words became sharper. "An already married man saying such things deserves a thousand cuts, don't you think?"

"You know my relationship with Grace. Our marriage is over, and I've given her the divorce papers. I'm determined to divorce."

"Have you divorced yet? Right now, she's still your spouse. Do you think I'll be moved? No, I'll only despise you more."

Caleb knew this, which was why he rarely mentioned it. He wasn't qualified yet.

But every time Susan resisted, he wanted to express his feelings.

How serious he was about her!

He was determined to marry her, to spend the rest of his life with her!

"Let go!" she commanded.
