Chapter 723 The Out-of-Control Anthony
Odis naturally didn't want to, but he didn't have the guts to stop it.
But what he didn't expect was that Juniper glanced at Anthony and then replied, "No need, Mr. Eilish. I'll just sit here."
She actually chose him! Odis was overjoyed.
Anthony's eyes were gloomy. 'She knew that Odis has bad intentions, yet she still chose to sit next to him. Does she hate me that much? Last night she kept saying she liked me! It must have been drunken nonsense!'
Juniper couldn't meet his gaze. She would rather endure the repulsive Odis than disgust herself.
Seeing her choose him, Odis thought she must have been tempted by the tenfold salary he offered.
Odis thought, 'Of course, who won't want to earn more money with a tenfold salary? So, Juniper will soon belong to me.'
Thinking of this, Odis boldly thought he could enjoy the benefits in advance, so he shamelessly moved closer.
Seeing that Juniper didn't resist, he boldly put his hand on her leg.
Juniper almost threw up and immediately tried to push his hand away.
But Odis' hand was like glue, sticking tightly to Juniper's leg, and he grinned at her with a greasy smile.
"Mr. Mather," Juniper said, holding back her disgust. She was about to lose it.
"Juniper..." Odis called out greasily.
Juniper forcefully pushed his hand away.
At that moment, Anthony suddenly strode over, and before Juniper could react, he punched Odis in the face.
"Mr. Eilish..." Juniper screamed.
"Collaboration canceled!" Anthony said coldly, pulling Juniper up and striding out.
"Slow down. I'm going to fall... Mr. Eilish... Anthony."
As Juniper stumbled and was about to fall, Anthony pulled her up from the ground.
Juniper asked, "Why did you hit him?"
"He was taking advantage of you. Why shouldn't I hit him? What were you doing just now?" Anthony said angrily.
Juniper replied, "I was just working, entertaining clients."
"The Eilish Group doesn't need you to work like that!" Anthony rarely got this angry, veins popping on his forehead.
Juniper gave him an amused look. "Entertaining clients, isn't that a secretary's job?"
Of course, she didn't really think that way; she just wanted to provoke Anthony. She never looked down on her job!
Anthony's temple twitched. "You think I brought you here for that?"
"What else?" She knew she must look infuriatingly smug right now.
Anthony didn't expect her to say that. He brought her along because he liked her, but she thought he wanted her to entertain clients.
Anthony was heartbroken. "So that's how you see me!"
Juniper thought, 'Do my words hurt him? If he's hurt, I'll feel bad too.'
Juniper felt a pang in her heart, her nose tingling.
'I'm sorry, Anthony. I shouldn't have said that to you. It's not what I meant, not at all!' She screamed in her heart, but her face forced itself to remain indifferent.
Juniper said, "I don't want to discuss this with you. Let's go back."
She turned to leave, but Anthony grabbed her wrist and yanked her back.
His eyes were dangerous, terrifying.
Juniper's heart tightened; she had never seen Anthony like this.
"Let go, Anthony." she twisted her wrist.
A sudden kiss bit her lips.
Juniper's whole body went numb, freezing in place. His kiss was so intense it stunned her. She stood there dumbfounded, not moving for a few seconds.
It wasn't until his kiss became so intense that it took her breath away, making it impossible for her to breathe, that she started pounding on his chest.
"Let go..."
Juniper thought, 'What's he doing? Has he gone mad? He actually forces a kiss on me! This isn't like Anthony! What does he take me for? Some kind of loose, frivolous woman?'
Juniper felt so humiliated.
Shame and anger surged in her heart, and Juniper's tears started to fall.
Anthony tasted the salty tang; she was crying?
He paused, and in that moment, Juniper yanked her hand free.
A slap landed on his face, clear and loud.
Juniper was shaking with anger.
She never thought there would come a day when she would slap Anthony and she did it with extra force.
Anthony's ears were ringing.
What was he doing? He was engaging in the very behavior he despised the most!
But he had been so angry just now, angry that she thought of him in that way.
Then he heard her voice, trembling with rage, "What are you doing? If you need a woman so badly, go find someone else. Don't disgust me!"
She actually said he was disgusting.
But even Anthony himself was very repulsed by his behavior just now; it didn't seem like something he would do. He was surprised at himself.
He must have really been driven so mad by her that he lost his mind.
Even with Layla, whom he had liked for years, he had never lost his mind like this.
When did she become so important to him that she could drive him crazy?
Her importance in his heart even surprised Anthony.
But he didn't say anything, and Juniper had already stormed off in anger. He reached out, but only grabbed air; he didn't have the guts to stop her.
Juniper walked faster and faster, hurriedly escaping back to her room.
All the things she had worried about before had happened, like one slap after another waking her up.
Self-restraint? She couldn't do it at all. She was just a ridiculous bad woman, hypocritically coveting someone else's boyfriend.
She deserved to die.
She regretted not listening to Ronnie's advice.
But she knew, even if things happened a thousand or ten thousand times, she would still do the same.
People were always like this, self-destructive.
She shouldn't have hit Anthony; that slap should have landed hard on her own face. She was the one at fault, the despicable one!
Anthony stood at her door but didn't have the guts to ring the bell.
He stood there for a long time before finally leaving.
At midnight, Juniper's mind was still in turmoil, unable to sleep, replaying the scene of Anthony forcefully kissing her, driving her crazy.
Her phone vibrated, a message from Anthony: [Work canceled. Leave at 9 AM tomorrow.]
Because of her, work was canceled.
The excuse she gave herself was that she wanted to focus on her work, not think about Anthony, and achieve her own value.
But was this slap in the face loud enough? She couldn't avoid getting entangled with him, and she seriously affected the work.
She delayed the work. She was a burden.
Juniper thought, 'I can't keep doing this.'
Things were slowly getting out of control. She couldn't continue to let it go on like this; it would only get worse, eventually becoming irreparable, turning her into something utterly disgusting and unrecognizable.
Since the reality was right in front of her, deceiving herself was just a way to court disaster.
She had to resign.
