Chapter 445 Brutally Abused
After work, the office slowly emptied out.
Seven o'clock.
Layla's phone buzzed on her desk.
She kept one hand on the mouse and grabbed her phone with the other. She glanced at the message and typed back: [Half an hour more.]
The reply came instantly: [I'll come pick you up.]
Layla set her phone aside.
After staring at the computer all day, her eyes felt strained. Maybe it was because she was four months pregnant; her eyes seemed to get sore more easily.
She told herself to hang in there—just two more days until she could rest. Then she wouldn't be busy even if she wanted to be.
She was so focused on the screen that she didn't notice someone else was close until she looked up and saw another face near hers, also staring at her computer.
Startled, Layla pushed her chair back but was pulled back.
"What are you doing?"
Brian had his arms on either side of her chair, trapping her.
"Brian."
He leaned in with a gentle smile. "Working overtime, huh? In a hurry to leave?"
"Let go of me. Do you want to get slapped again?" Layla warned.
"Seems like you really hate me."
"Glad you know."
"I've been so good to you, but you treat me like this. Since that's the case, I don't need to be nice to you anymore."
Layla tensed up, wondering what Brian planned to do, but he let go and stood up. She grabbed her bag to leave, but as soon as she stood, she felt extremely dizzy.
Brian's deep laughter by her ear made her shiver.
No, she wasn't just dizzy from standing up too quickly.
In her dizziness, she saw the water cup on the table and weakly supported herself on the desk.
"You... what did you put in my water?"
"You'll find out soon."
The next second, Layla's vision went black.
When she groggily opened her eyes, she found herself in the passenger seat, the car driving into the dark unknown.
She immediately woke up and saw Brian driving.
"Where... where are you taking me?" she asked anxiously, but her voice was weak. "Stop, stop the car..."
Brian only responded with a sinister smile.
"Stop the car..." Layla fumbled around her body, but her bag and phone were gone.
"Stop the car."
"Rest well." Brian murmured in a strangely gentle voice. "You are mine."
Layla panicked. She couldn't let him keep driving.
She closed her eyes, gathered some strength, unbuckled her seatbelt, and lunged at the steering wheel. "Stop the car."
"Stop the car now."
Brian, caught off guard, pushed her away. Seeing they were about to hit a tree, he quickly swerved and braked hard.
Layla fell back into the passenger seat, trying to open the door with her fingers, but Brian grabbed her hair, making her scream.
The seatbelt still strapped her in.
"You like it here, don't you? A woman with Stockholm syndrome thinks it's more exciting in the wild, right? If that's the case, I'll fulfill your wish." Brian leaned in, pressing down on her.
In the cramped seat, his awkward position kept pressing against her, almost squeezing all the air out of her chest.
"Brian."
"Don't touch me."
"Let go."
Brian viciously ripped open Layla's sweater, exposing her fair skin. His eyes, filled with twisted desire, gleamed with a wild excitement.
"Calm down."
"Brian, you're not like this."
Brian grabbed Layla's chin, his eyes blazing. "I'm not like this, but you forced me."
"I've been so good to you; why did you choose a controlling demon? Why are you so ungrateful?"
"It's all your fault it turned out this way. My heart was already frozen, unable to love, but you warmed it and opened that door. You seduced me into liking you but said we were just friends. Layla, you played with my feelings."
"I... I didn't..." Layla's voice trembled with fear.
"You liar!"
"But I don't blame you; you're just confused by him. You like being controlled like me treating you this way, right? I can treat you like he does, but I can give you more. We are soulmates." Brian rambled, completely unhinged, one hand continuing to pull at her skirt.
"Let go of me... Brian..." Layla wanted to curse but couldn't, only able to keep begging, "Let go..."
"Don't do this."
Layla cried anxiously, tears streaming down. If he did this to her now, she didn't know how she would face the baby and Samuel in the future.
"Stop."
"You'll like it, especially a woman like you who says no." Brian continued his deranged rant.
"Please let me go, I beg you..."
Brian lowered his head and bit Layla's neck. "Layla, you smell so good."
Having not touched a woman for a long time and with the woman he liked under him, Brian went crazy.
"Let me go, please." Layla sobbed.
'Samuel, save me, save me.'she prayed. At that moment, she desperately wished Samuel would show up.
Brian couldn't wait to go further.
Layla, in utter despair, closed her eyes.
But in the next second, the door was yanked open from the outside.
Suddenly, the weight on her lifted, and Brian was thrown out of the car.
Samuel anxiously cupped Layla's face. "Are you okay? Layla? It's me, don't be afraid."
Layla opened her tear-filled eyes, tears streaming down. "You finally came; I was almost..."
"No, I would never let that happen." Samuel held her tightly, almost suffocating her, but she wasn't afraid of choking, instead clinging to him like a lifeline. "It's okay now, it's okay."
Layla fell unconscious again, waking from a nightmare, but fortunately, when she opened her eyes, Samuel was by her side.
She whimpered in his arms, "I'm sorry... I was too stubborn... If I had quit, this wouldn't have happened... If he had... I don't know how I would face you..." She cried intermittently, breaking Samuel's heart.
"I didn't protect you well, letting you suffer such abuse." Samuel kissed her forehead forcefully. "I won't let you get hurt like that again... never; I'll protect you with my life, Layla."
After crying for a long time, Layla's emotions gradually stabilized, looking at him with tearful eyes, "I knew you would come to save me, I knew it. But he was so scary."
"He won't have a chance to get close to you again."
"What did you do to him?" Layla asked nervously.
Samuel's face at that time was terrifying, like he was going to kill someone.
