Chapter 351 Spend Money to Kill Him
Layla felt the heat emanating from Leonard and felt nauseous.
"Leonard, this is not in line with etiquette."
Leonard grumbled discontentedly. "What etiquette are you talking about? When I spend money, I am in charge and I dictate the etiquette!"
"Leonard, everyone’s watching. As a dignified CEO, you wouldn’t want to be a laughingstock, would you?"
"What are they looking at? Haven't they seen a wealthy man before?"
Leonard noticed everyone staring at him and glared back fiercely. Despite what he said, he still had to protect his reputation. After all, Leonard was aware of his own lack of sophistication. He had always wanted to integrate into high society. That was why he had chosen this upscale restaurant that was frequented by the upper class.
Of course, his loud leopard-print outfit and the air of a nouveau riche that surrounded him all drew attention, even if he didn’t speak. And in the eyes of the crowd, Layla was unfortunately the mistress of this nouveau riche.
Leonard called the waiter over and boldly asked, "How much is the most expensive bottle of wine here?"
"Twenty thousand dollars."
"It’s cheap. I need a bottle of that," Leonard said loudly, afraid that no one else would hear. He looked around boastfully, and finally his gaze fell on Layla, his face full of pride.
After the waiter brought the wine, Leonard poured a full glass, held it like a fist by the stem, and took a big sip. "See, can anyone else afford this twenty-thousand-dollar wine?"
Layla couldn't help but chuckle when she saw him drink. He was like a fat pig, ruining quality wine with his drinking style.
Leonard misunderstood Layla's smile, became even more smug, and poured another full glass.
The customers at other tables couldn't help but exchange knowing glances. It was the first time they had seen someone down a full glass of wine like that.
Leonard raised his chin proudly and drank even more vigorously.
Layla didn't want to embarrass herself by associating with someone like that. She took out the contract. "Leonard, you understand the project details."
Layla knew Leonard didn't understand as he was just a fool. But it didn't matter to him.
"If you work with us, Brightness Design Company will offer you a discount."
"You're just offering me a small discount. It's not even enough for my villa renovation," Leonard sneered. "Don’t you know? I have ten villas, worth several billion combined. Even if my company goes bankrupt, I’ll have a villa and a car. Smart women will still follow me and enjoy the best of everything."
"Leonard."
"Layla, right? You just graduated from college, right? I’ll give you a tip. If you want to woo male clientele successfully, the key lies in ensuring their comfort in bed. After that, signing the contract is a piece of cake. Don't pretend to be innocent with me. You must know why I didn't sign a contract with that fat girl, Cassandra, before. Since you're here, you must be confident that you can sign the contract. So be straightforward. Stop acting. I'm tired of that.
"I'm straightforward too. If you’ll sleep with me for a night, I'll sign immediately!"
Leonard was loud and unapologetic, proud of his wealth and arrogance.
The other customers exchanged mocking smiles.
Layla smiled faintly. "Leonard, aren't you getting married next month?"
"You know that? Do you have a crush on me?"
Layla had done some research before coming here. She never went into battle unprepared.
"What? Are you afraid my fiancée will come after you? Don't worry, that silly woman is always shopping. She won't know a thing. I've had so many women, and I’ve never had any trouble."
"Shouldn't you behave yourself before getting married?" Layla said.
"I sleep with many women before and after marriage," Leonard said proudly. "Just mentioning that silly woman makes me angry. If it weren't for her coal mines, I wouldn't have married her. I just married her so we could have children. It doesn't affect my other affairs. Don't be afraid. Even if something happens, I'll cover for you."
Leonard reached for Layla's hand, but Layla withdrew it.
"Does that mean that if I don't agree to this, you won’t sign the contract?"
Leonard leaned back. "What's the matter? Are you trying to play hard to get? Let me tell you, I hate women who play tricky games."
Layla smiled coldly. "I'm not playing tricky games. I'm not interested."
"Are you refusing me? If I like a woman, I'll make them sleep with me, even if they resist. When the contract falls apart, you’ll still have to sleep with me, so you might as well just obey me," Leonard said arrogantly.
Layla narrowed her sharp eyes pointedly, saying, "Leonard, it would best not to offend someone without knowing who's behind them. Otherwise you won't be able to handle the consequences."
"You little brat, are you trying to scare me? I've lived for so many years, and I know no fear. Tell me, who's your sugar daddy? Let's see if he's half as rich as me," Leonard said.
Layla smiled and remained silent.
"What? Are you afraid to say who he is? Scared I'll spend money to kill him?" Leonard scoffed.
'No one in the world could spend money to kill Samuel. How ignorant!' she thought.
"Tell him to come over now. Let me see how much money he has.
"Are you scared? Apologize to me them. Stop playing tricks and sleep with me. Besides the commission, I'll give you a villa!" Leonard said.
"Keep it for yourself," Layla said indifferently.
This was the first time Leonard had been so humiliated, and he couldn't help but feel angry. He started to jump up from his chair.
Suddenly, the diamond and gold phone rang, the discordant noise ringing through the whole restaurant. One of the customers almost spat out his drink.
Leonard glanced at the name on the phone and gave Layla a warning look. "Don't say a word!"
"Hello, darling. I'm working late at the office. No, I haven't gone out. There’s no other woman here except my secretary. I have nothing to do with her. She’s not worthy of being compared to you. I'm working hard to earn money to marry you.
"What? You want me to help you pick out a gold bracelet? What's so good about a gold bracelet? Just pick the biggest and heaviest one. You should get at least a hundred of them.
"I don't understand these things. Get your friend help you pick. Which friend? The one with the good figure. No, I don't despise you, darling. You have the best figure, you’re my favorite. Are you really making me go? Alright, I'm coming over now. Wait for me. Okay, I'll be there in fifteen minutes."
Layla would rather die than marry a man like Leonard, who was full of gold teeth and a stench.
After hanging up the phone, Leonard slammed the table and stood up threateningly. "You're lucky. I have something to do today, so I'll let you off. I'll give you another day to think about it. Let me tell you, there are plenty of women around me who are prettier than you, so don't come crying to me begging for mercy."
With that, Leonard left with a sour face.
"Leonard," Layla called after him.
