Chapter 592: This is a Planned Conspiracy
"Candy, don't..."
"Quick, save her..."
"Help, help..."
Susan felt like she was drowning, struggling like crazy but getting nowhere. Water was coming at her from all sides, filling her ears and nose.
"Help..."
She wanted to save Candy, but the more they fought, the deeper they sank.
Just when she was about to give up, a strong hand yanked her out of the water.
Caleb stood by the pool, "Susan, Susan? Wake up. It was just a nightmare!"
A voice snapped Susan awake, and she gasped, opening her eyes, "Caleb?"
"You were having a nightmare."
"Nightmare? No, no, Candy was really drowning... Is she okay?"
"She's fine, out of danger now. You're both in the hospital."
Susan didn't even have time to breathe a sigh of relief before her face went pale, "What about the baby? How's the baby?"
"The baby is fine too."
"Thank God..." Tears welled up in Susan's eyes. In the dream, she had seen herself bleeding like crazy, a terrifying sight.
"What exactly happened? The doctor suddenly called me over."
Susan quickly recounted the events in detail.
Caleb was terrified after hearing it, "Thank you for saving Candy. If it weren't for you risking your life, Candy would have... But you also put yourself in danger."
They were both his world; Caleb couldn't bear to lose either of them.
Thank God they were both safe. Caleb would rather give up twenty years of his life.
"I was scared too, but I couldn't just watch Candy drown. Doesn't Grace know how to swim?"
"She does, and she's really good at it," A cold glint flashed in Caleb's eyes.
"Then she deliberately didn't save Candy? That's impossible, she's Candy's mom, how could she..."
"If she were still a mother, she wouldn't abuse Candy. Grace has gone mad; all she has is hatred."
Susan frowned, connecting the dots, "Caleb, I have a terrible suspicion that this was all part of Grace's plan. The pool is usually packed, but today it was empty, which is super weird. And Grace was with Candy, so how did Candy suddenly fall into the water? So I think... maybe Grace pushed Candy in, deliberately didn't save her, just to make me go in and miscarry."
"Exactly!" Caleb said firmly, "To make you miscarry, she didn't hesitate to sacrifice her own child. Grace is insane; there's no mother more ruthless than her."
"This is too terrifying, too cruel," Susan felt a chill, "Candy can't stay with her anymore."
"Not just that, she won't have a chance to see Candy again."
"Are you sending her abroad?"
"Yes, I can't let Candy be in danger. The only reason I didn't kill her was because of Candy; otherwise, she'd already be a corpse," Caleb's eyes were filled with coldness and murderous intent.
"Yes, drive her away, make sure she never gets near Candy again."
"Don't worry, leave it to me. You just rest well."
Susan sighed deeply, feeling utterly exhausted, "I feel like this whole thing has drained all my energy, I'm so tired."
"You've worked hard. Thank you, Susan," Caleb said to her solemnly.
In the next room.
When Caleb entered, Grace was anxiously getting out of bed.
"Where are you going?"
"I'm going to see Candy. Is she okay? It's all my fault for not taking good care of her." Grace looked remorseful.
Caleb's face was stone cold, "How long are you gonna keep this act up?"
"Acting? I'm really worried about Candy, she's my daughter."
"You still know she's your daughter? Tell me, what kind of twisted person would push their own kid into the water just to hurt someone else?"
"I, I pushed Candy into the water? Caleb, what are you talking about? How could I push Candy into the water?" Grace cried out, looking all innocent, "She accidentally slipped and fell in. If you don't believe me, ask Candy."
"Did Susan tell you this? I was gonna thank her for saving Candy, but I didn't expect her to falsely accuse me. It's too much! Don't believe her, okay? She doesn't really care about Candy; only I truly love Candy." Grace added.
"Stop making me sick." Caleb's face was full of disgust, "Grace, even a cockroach is nobler than you! You are so disgusting."
"Caleb..."
"Don't say my name. I've got everything figured out. You bribed the pool staff to disappear, then pushed Candy into the water, making Susan save her to cause her to miscarry. That's the truth!"
Grace frowned, acting all confused. After a while, she laughed, "I get it... Susan, she planned this so well, framing me like this..."
"You still blame her! Grace, do you want to die?"
"I'm telling the truth. Susan set up this flawless plan, putting all the blame on me, making me look like a villain who would harm my own daughter. She's so vicious!"
"The vicious one is you! Even now, you won't repent?"
"I did nothing wrong, what should I repent for? You just don't believe me. No matter how much I explain, you still believe her conspiracy."
Caleb strode forward and grabbed Grace by the neck.
Grace's breath hitched, but she showed no fear, "What? If I don't admit it, are you gonna kill me?"
"I don't need you to admit it." Caleb sneered, "I won't believe a word you say. Grace, I know everything you've done, including the reporter you hired last time. From the beginning, you've been pretending to be pitiful, acting."
"Considering you gave birth to Candy, I won't kill you, but I won't let you get close to her again, not even a step!" Caleb added.
"What are you gonna do?"
"I'm sending you to a deserted place, where you'll fend for yourself. For the rest of your life, you'll repent for your sins. But even if you regret it, it's too late. Grace, your remaining years will be spent in suffering!" Caleb said, pushing her away, "Take her away."
"Yes, Mr. Eilish." Two bodyguards walked in.
"I'm not going, Caleb, you're wronging me." Grace struggled, "I didn't do it. I don't want to go to that place!"
"Caleb! Candy will hate you! I'm her mom—" Grace screamed, cursed, and went hysterical, "Caleb, you bastard! I'll haunt you even after I die! You won't die a good death! Caleb—"
Grace's voice faded down the hallway.
Caleb's face was cold. He regretted sparing Grace's life back then, which led to today's mess. But from now on, she wouldn't have a chance to harm anyone around him.
Caleb composed himself and went to the children's ward downstairs.
Candy was already awake, sitting in a daze.
