Chapter 326 Can't Swallow This Anger
Fair?' Nathaniel thought.
Nathaniel gave a cold smile. "This is the Sheeran Group, where I call the shots. Just now you said it's unfair. Do you mean that you're not satisfied with this collaboration?"
"I didn't mean that." Fanny was afraid, her voice trembling. She didn't dare to offend him as he was an important client for the company after all.
"You should leave. Don't hinder me and Miss Adkins from working."
"But…"
Fanny wanted to say something more, but Nathaniel gave her a cold look. She glared at Layla discontentedly, whose calm demeanor only fueled her anger. The fire in her chest burned fiercely.
Fanny cursed in her heart, 'What's the big deal!? Just wait and see!'
Fanny stuffed the documents into her bag haphazardly and intentionally slammed the door as she left.
Nathaniel frowned. "It's tough working with someone like her, Miss Adkins."
"It's fine. Let's continue."
Two hours later, Nathaniel escorted Layla out of the office. Oliver saw Fanny waiting at the elevator, looking ready to explode. Nathaniel said, "Miss Adkins, should I give your company a heads-up so that your colleague Fanny won't come along with you in the future?"
"I'll handle it myself. Goodbye."
"Alright, goodbye." Nathaniel personally saw her off.
Once Nathaniel entered the elevator, Fanny rudely grabbed Layla and menacingly asked, "What did you and Nathaniel talk about?"
"About the design plans."
"Just that? He must have said more." Fanny followed her in high heels. "Tell me. What else did he say?"
"He said if you keep bothering him, you don't need to come here next time."
"Does he want to kick me out? Impossible! Nathaniel wouldn't say that! You're lying to me." Fanny said excitedly.
Layla glanced at her indifferently, raising an eyebrow. "Considering his attitude toward you just now, do you think it's impossible?"
"It must be your nonsense."
Layla stepped aside. "If you don't believe me, go ask him yourself."
"I'm not that stupid. You must be making it up. Layla, I won't quit the project just because of your words. Don't underestimate me. I've put a lot of effort into this project, and I won't hand it over to you. There is only one person who will be in charge in the end, and that's me. And you, you'll be kicked out sooner or later."
Fanny ranted and then angrily got into her car. Sitting with her arms crossed, she was seething with anger.
The driver was a bit annoyed by her glare, while Layla remained unaffected.
"Stop!" Halfway through, Fanny suddenly shouted.
The driver was startled and quickly hit the brakes.
"Go buy me a bottle of coconut juice," Fanny ordered.
Layla was focused on the design plans and didn’t bother to look up.
"I told you to buy me coconut juice. Didn't you hear me?"
"You go buy it yourself."
"I told you to go buy it!"
"I'm not your subordinate." Layla still didn't look at her in case of feeling disgusted.
Having experienced numerous office conflicts, Layla had seen many ridiculous colleagues. Fanny was definitely one of the most annoying, like a cockroach that even the most potent insecticide couldn't kill, always coming to bother others.
"I'm the director."
Layla didn't care about her. "If you don't buy it, I'll let him drive."
"Do you dare?" Fanny glared at Layla, shouting at the driver.
The driver was in a dilemma.
"Drive."
"If you dare to drive, I'll have Levi fire you!" Fanny threatened.
"Go buy me coconut juice." Unable to get Layla to comply, Fanny had to command the driver.
The driver cursed inwardly, wondering why he had to deal with this. But he couldn't afford to offend Fanny.
Just as the driver was about to open the car door reluctantly, he was stopped by Layla.
"Driver, let's go back to the company directly."
"Layla, what do you mean? I asked him to buy me coconut juice. You're meddling too much."
"The driver isn't your servant."
"The driver is supposed to run errands. What's wrong with me asking him to buy coconut juice?" Fanny flared up, looking aggressive. "Who the hell are you to interfere?"
Only then did Layla raise her head, meeting her gaze with a calm look. "Nathaniel just told you not to come tomorrow. I stopped him. Do you want me to call him now and inform him and the company?"
"You dare to threaten me? Nathaniel wouldn't say that. I've devoted myself to this project. why would he do that to me?"
Layla coldly interrupted, "After so many years in the workplace, you still ask such stupid questions. Are you brainless?"
"How dare you call me brainless? "
"If you don't shut up, I'll call him right now. Do you want to try?"
Fanny gritted her teeth. "You're ruthless!"
She wouldn't let her off like this.
The driver smirked. 'Fanny had been too overbearing, and it was about the time someone reined her in. Seeing her furious yet helpless demeanor was quite satisfying!' He thought.
Upon arriving at the office, Fanny slammed the car door and stormed in, fuming.
"Driver, thank you for your hard work." Layla thanked him as usual.
"Thank you, Miss Adkins. But I have to remind you." The driver looked around, seeing no one nearby, then whispered, "Fanny is Levi's lover. You'd better not mess with her too much to avoid trouble."
Layla hadn't thought about this before, but after the driver's words, she wasn't surprised. There were many absurd women like Fanny in the world, who accused others of engaging in quid pro quo relationships while it was themselves who really did that.
Layla didn't say anything and got out of the car and she thought it had nothing to do with her.
Fanny rushed to the office to complain, ranting and raving. When she saw Levi's reaction, she became even more furious.
"Layla bullied me, and you're laughing?"
"Layla and Nathaniel have a good relationship, isn't that a good thing? It makes the project run smoother, and we can make money. You don't even need to put in much effort. Just accompany them on the side. Or don't even bother, focus on your tasks."
"What do you mean? Are you trying to kick me out?" Fanny asked nervously.
"No, you'll get your share of the commission. It's because I care about you so I don't want you to work too hard."
"I think you want to hand the project over to Layla completely. She and I are like oil and water. If I don't go, do you think she'll share a penny with me? I have to go!"
"But Nathaniel is unsatisfied with you. Why bother inviting trouble upon yourself?"
"Mind your own business!" Fanny thought that even if she had to flatter, the opportunity should be hers, not Layla's. But what frustrated her was that Layla didn't need to flatter anyone, while Nathaniel needed to flatter her instead.
"What kind of person do you think is behind Layla? Even Nathaniel wants to please her."
"I don't care as long as he or she is helpful to us." Levi only cared about the results and nothing else.
"That's nonsense. Without that kind of backing, how could Layla have oppressed me so much?"
Levi shook his head. "I have to say that you're too petty sometimes. I think Layla is nice. It's always you starting the trouble."
"I start trouble? Say that again?" Fanny was infuriated.
"Okay, okay, I won't say it again. Go do your work."
Seeing Levi getting impatient with her, Fanny was even more upset.
She couldn't let Layla off as she couldn't swallow her pride!
