Chapter 784 Anthony's Wedding
'Tomorrow is the wedding day, why is he calling me now?' Juniper felt a bit flustered.
She didn't dare to answer, she didn't dare to hear his voice, it would only make her more confused.
The screen kept flashing.
She didn't pick up, but he kept calling, over and over again.
The screen kept dimming and lighting up, flashing repeatedly, countless times.
Until 1 AM, when Juniper went to sleep, the phone finally stopped vibrating.
She then picked up the phone, 42 missed calls.
He was crazy.
The phone vibrated again, but this time it was a text message.
Anthony: [I'm sorry, I love you.]
Juniper's eyes immediately welled up with tears.
She was sleepless all night.
Anthony drank all night, and in the morning, the best man forcibly dragged him to take a shower and get ready to meet the bride.
He reeked of alcohol, which was surprising to everyone.
The church was solemn and sacred.
On the altar, Hera was draped in a beautiful white veil, but she kept smelling the alcohol.
'Was he soaking in a vat of alcohol last night? Is getting married so painful for him?' she thought.
"Hera, do you take Anthony to be your husband, to live together according to God's word, to love him, comfort him, honor and protect him, as you love yourself? Will you be faithful to him as long as you both shall live, whether in sickness or in health, in wealth or in poverty, until death do you part?"
"I do," Hera answered gently.
But ironically, she didn't feel a bit of happiness; instead, she was clearly watching herself jump into hell.
People are really strange sometimes, not knowing what they are doing it for. Knowing it's wrong, yet stubbornly seeking the outcome.
Was it just because of unwillingness? Unwilling to let go, wanting Anthony to suffer too?
At this point, there was no turning back.
"Anthony, do you take Hera to be your wife, to live together according to God's word, to love her, comfort her, honor and protect her, as you love yourself? Will you be faithful to her as long as you both shall live, whether in sickness or in health, in wealth or in poverty, until death do you part?"
A dead silence followed.
The crowd was a bit puzzled, stretching their necks to see.
Brenda broke out in a cold sweat. She was conflicted, not knowing whether she hoped Anthony would agree or not.
"Anthony, Anthony?" the best man whispered.
Anthony frowned, seemingly absent-minded.
"Anthony, do you take Hera to be your wife, to live together according to God's word, to love her, comfort her, honor and protect her, as you love yourself? Will you be faithful to her as long as you both shall live, whether in sickness or in health, in wealth or in poverty, until death do you part?" the priest asked again.
Anthony suddenly woke up, "I don't!"
Hera was struck hard; her worst fear had come true.
He said he didn't want to marry at this moment, was it to embarrass her on purpose?
The crowd erupted in surprise.
Did they hear it right? Anthony actually said he didn't want to?
"He does," Hera said to the priest, "We can exchange rings now."
Hera directly grabbed the ring and tried to force it onto Anthony's hand, but Anthony refused.
"You were drunk last night!" Hera gritted her teeth.
"I wasn't drunk, on the contrary, I'm very clear-headed now. I was indecisive before, but continuing would be a mistake."
"You promised to take responsibility for me, Anthony, did you forget? You promised to marry me."
"But I can't give you happiness, Hera, and I don't want to be unhappy myself," Anthony said calmly.
"Because of Juniper?"
"It's because we have problems between us, I can't force myself to marry you. But you're right, the one I love is Juniper. If I can't marry her, I will remain single for life. I'm sorry, but the mistake must stop now." Anthony said, ignoring Hera's pulling and the stunned looks of the crowd, and walked away.
"Anthony, Anthony!"
At 6 AM, Juniper finally fell asleep, and she slept until noon when she was woken up by the servant, saying someone was looking for her.
Juniper panicked for a moment, could it be Anthony?
She hesitated to go out, but was surprised to find...
"Brice, why are you here?"
Brice, with empty hands, rushed over to hug her, "I missed you so much."
"You, how did you..."
"After that day, you didn't return my calls or messages. I thought you were going to break up with me, so I hurriedly finished everything and came to find you. I'm sorry, I was harsh that day, but I really didn't mean to doubt you. Please don't break up with me."
From his trembling embrace, Juniper could feel that he was really afraid of losing her, and she felt extremely guilty.
"You fool, didn't I say I would contact you after I calmed down and explain everything to you?"
"I was afraid that after you calmed down, you would break up with me." Brice looked pitifully haggard.
"You idiot." Juniper wanted to cry and laugh at the same time.
"So you won't break up with me?"
"You're such a good boyfriend, why would I break up with you?" Juniper asked with a smile.
"But I'm jealous..."
"It was my fault for hiding things from you first, you've already been very tolerant of me." He came all this way to find her, Juniper was really touched.
Brice let out a heavy sigh of relief, "As long as you don't break up with me. I didn't dare close my eyes for the ten-plus hours on the plane, thinking of hundreds of ways to win you back if you wanted to break up."
"Why are you so dramatic for a man?" Juniper laughed and shook her head.
"Isn't it because I'm nervous about you? I like you so much, even though it's not been long, but I really... Juniper, I love you." Brice said excitedly, afraid he couldn't express how deep his love was.
He added, "My love for you is like a flame, like a flood, it sweeps over me, it burns me, I really love you. I thought I was a rational person until I met you, you drive me crazy."
Brice could no longer control his excitement and kissed her lips.
To his surprise, this time Juniper didn't push him away, but instead hugged him and passionately responded to his kiss.
The two kissed deeply.
At this moment, Juniper told herself to throw everything from the past, including Anthony, behind her.
She was lucky to meet such a good boyfriend, she wanted to cherish him, start anew... and open her whole heart to him, with no secrets.
The passionately kissing couple didn't notice Anthony in a white tuxedo standing behind them, pale-faced.
He had fled the wedding scene, rushed here like a madman, eager to tell her he wasn't getting married, he was single, she didn't need to feel any guilt, he wanted to pursue her again, but he saw this scene...
