Chapter 365 Couple Keychain

Ava was stunned by Layla's calming gaze, involuntarily stopping her wailing.

Jacob was also nervous, sweating coldly. "Are you okay? Should we wait for the doctor?"

"No time." Layla held Ava's leg with one hand and the steel bar with the other.

"I'll count to three. Three."

Ava tightly shut her eyes.

"Two" Layla forcefully pulled out the steel bar.

Ava screamed, "You jerk, you haven't finished counting. You did it on purpose."

Ava gasped in pain, continuing to curse and cry. "If my leg is disabled, I'll break both of your legs. You jerk."

"Carry her out and wait for the ambulance outside." Layla quickly treated Ava's wound and sighed, her hand covered in blood.

At the hospital, Ava's screams could be heard from the next ward.

The doctor's ears were almost deafened by Ava's screams.

Finally, the bandaging was done, and the doctor breathed a sigh of relief. With Ava's yelling, one would think the hospital was a slaughterhouse. There were some who were more seriously injured, but none screamed as miserably as she did.

Ava Claire's chubby face appeared ten years older, with her eye shadow and foundation blending like a painter's palette as she tearfully asked, "Doctor, will my leg be incapacitated? The steel bar was completely rusty."

"You should thank this young girl. If she hadn't pulled it out in time, you might have been in a wheelchair in your next life." The doctor praised Layla. "The girl is good. She knew how to pull out the steel bar in time and treat the wound well."

"Layla, thank you," Jacob said gratefully. He almost had to take care of a disabled person, which would be exhausting.

"What's there to thank for? Who knows if she did it on purpose to harm me?" Ava said bitterly. "Perhaps she intended to disable me, but she did not anticipate ultimately aiding me."

"You're being ungrateful." the doctor said.

"You don't know what happened. My leg got hurt because of those two. I bet they both wanted to kill me." Ava cursed and ranted, using all sorts of vulgar language, making the doctor unable to bear it.

'How could there be such a person?' the doctor thought.

Layla couldn't be bothered to argue with Ava. "I'm leaving. Rest up."

Ava was now in pain and tired, too weak to argue with her, so she could only temporarily give up and grumble, "Just wait. I'll settle the score with you later."

Layla returned to the apartment.

Layla walked out of the elevator, rubbing her forehead.

"You're back."

Samuel, in a suit, stood at the door, shining like a star.

Layla's mind was muddled just now. Only then did she remember Samuel. Her steps hesitated. "How long have you been waiting?"

"A while."

Layla glanced at the clock. It was nine o'clock.

"How long have you been waiting?"

"Three hours."

"Three hours! " Layla's heart skipped a beat, feeling very sorry. "Why didn't you call me?"

"I did. Your phone was off."

Layla checked her phone, only to find it was indeed off. She quickly opened the door, saying, "It's so cold. You've been waiting for three hours. You must be freezing."

As soon as she entered, Layla hurriedly looked for the remote control for the air conditioner and turned on the heating.

"Are you cold?" Layla held Samuel's arm, looking at him with concern.

Samuel lowered his head, his gaze gentle. "As long as you care, the coldness doesn't matter."

"You." Layla felt even more guilty.

"I'm not cold. Have you eaten?"

Layla shook her head.

"I'll cook pasta for you."

"You've waited so long, which is hard enough. Let's order takeout. I'll charge my phone first."

"I can finish it quickly." Samuel gestured toward the ingredients. "I bought the fish you like and I can steam it while cooking pasta. Take a shower, and then you can eat. Go quickly."

"But..."

"Go." Samuel kissed Layla's forehead and gently pushed her toward the bathroom.

As Layla entered the bathroom, she felt deeply moved.

Just as the pasta were put in the pot, Samuel was hugged from behind by Layla, her soft face pressed against his shirt, instantly softening his heart.

"What's wrong?"

The water in the pot was boiling, steam enveloping Samuel's face, making his features even gentler.

"Why are you so good to me? Waiting for me for three hours without complaint."

"As long as I know you're safe, waiting is also a kind of happiness," Samuel said gently.

Samuel knew Layla had gone to the hospital, intending to wait for her at the hospital entrance, but that might make her feel like she was being watched. He wanted to give Layla absolute freedom, especially in her work, so as not to disturb her and to wait quietly.

Suddenly, Layla felt a little bitter in her heart, realizing the feeling of being cherished by a man.

Layla gently turned Samuel's body, taking his hand.

Samuel looked down. A key appeared in his hand. The keychain was an arrow.

Samuel's eyes lit up.

"I don't want you waiting outside. Wait inside from now on."

Layla raised the key in her hand, her smile bright, her eyes sparkling. Her keychain was a heart.

They were keychains for a couple.

Samuel's smile became even warmer, pure like a child. He joyfully embraced Layla. "Thank you, I'm very happy."

What Layla wanted to say to Samuel was exactly this sentence. It had always been Samuel taking care of her and accommodating her, but she seemed to have done very little for him. If gratitude needed to be expressed, it would be Layla who should thank him for his love.

Layla's hands passed through Samuel's armpits, embracing his broad chest. They were getting closer and closer, her face pressed tightly against his heart, listening to his heartbeat.

The feeling of souls merging was so reassuring. Layla's whole world was Samuel, and his whole world was her.

The room was imbued with a solid and tranquil atmosphere.

The pasta danced in the boiling water, the steamed fish in the pot exuded fragrance, and the cozy atmosphere filled the small kitchen.

Their hearts were closely connected.

In the hospital, Ava's obese body lay on the bed, screaming.

Jacob came back with dinner, putting away his phone the moment he entered. "Baby, I'm back."

"Why did you take so long? Were you fooling around with other women again?" Ava questioned fiercely.

"I went to buy dinner for you."

"You took half an hour to buy dinner? Are you attempting to deceive me?"

"It's crowded now. I had to wait in line." Jacob tried to placate Ava.

"You don't need to wait that long in line."

"Darling, you're being unreasonable, making me feel like I'm in prison, getting scolded if I leave for a few minutes."

"Are you blaming me?" Ava's temper flared. "Why did I end up like this? You think I'm a bother and don't want to take care of me anymore, right?"
When Ava cursed, spit flew in all directions, landing on Jacob's face and making him nauseous. If it weren't for the money, he would have long stopped dealing with this annoying fat woman. Jacob felt like he was living a worse life than a dog, and no amount of money was worth it. Once Ava handed over the bar to him, he would kick her to the curb.
At that moment, Jacob could only accompany her, cooing sweet words. "Of course not, you're my sweetheart and my little treasure. I care for you so deeply. When I went to buy food just now, I was thinking about you the whole time, my dear." Jacob forced himself to lean in and kiss Ava's greasy face.
Ava pushed his face away, turning her face to the side. "Stop trying to deceive me with those words."
"I mean it."
"I ended up like this all because of you and that slut. What kind of karma did I bring upon myself to meet you both? Did you just see her?"
