Chapter 876 Years of Crimes Exposed
"I already told you, didn't I? He's a life-and-death friend of mine. A very important friend," Elara said guiltily.
But Alfonso didn't seem convinced. "I don't think he's just a friend, but rather..."
Just then, Aaron and Juniper pushed the door open and walked in.
This was a family matter, and Alfonso had no interest in getting involved, so he left.
"You disgraceful bitch!" Aaron cursed angrily.
"What did I do? I just wanted to invite Alfonso to dinner to thank him," Elara's eyes flickered nervously, especially when she saw Juniper's mocking smile behind Aaron.
"Dinner? I saw your shameless behavior clearly on the surveillance footage."
"You—you installed surveillance again?" Elara panicked. "It's you, you bitch! I'll kill you!"
She lunged at Juniper, but before she could touch her, Aaron slapped her hard across the face.
Elara fell to the ground, rolling over and covering her face in shame and anger. "You hit me?"
"Just for your shameless behavior earlier, I want to beat you to death. I should have done it long ago, so you wouldn't have cheated on me."
"I... I didn't..."
"Didn't? I know all about your relationship with Hugo, Elara. You've been seeing him behind my back. I really underestimated you."
"I didn't!" Elara hurriedly denied. "It's her, she's framing me!"
"Juniper, if you dare to lie, I'll tear your mouth apart!"
"Lie? If he's not your lover, why were you so eager to save him and seduce Mr. Carr, disgracing the Cooper family?"
"We're just friends, that's all."
"Friends in bed? Elara, stop lying. I've had a detective investigate your illicit relationship with Hugo thoroughly! For over twenty years, you've been seeing him twice a month, always secretly in hotels, with Hugo booking the room for you."
"I didn't, you're slandering me! Honey, don't believe her. I'm sincere to you." Elara crawled to Aaron's feet. "Don't listen to her one-sided story. She wants to get rid of me to take all the family assets."
"Still won't admit it?"
"Do you have any evidence?" Elara retorted.
"Evidence? Saffron is the best evidence."
Elara was stunned, feeling as if the world was collapsing. She even knew about that! It was over!
Juniper expressionlessly threw a paternity test report at Elara's face. "She's not my dad's daughter but yours and Hugo's. You've known this all along and deceived my dad for over twenty years."
Elara trembled all over, her face pale. "No, it's not like that, honey. This is fake. You can buy a fake report for a few hundred dollars, and you believe it? I didn't betray you. Saffron is your daughter, honey, really, I'm not lying to you, honey."
She cried as she crawled towards Aaron, but Aaron kicked her away, filling her mouth with a strong taste of blood. "Honey..."
"Shut up! Don't call me that! I really want to kill you!" Aaron said hatefully. "If Saffron hadn't broken her leg, I would have kicked you both out."
Having raised another man's daughter for so many years, Aaron was heartbroken.
But the hateful thing was that people have feelings. Even though Saffron wasn't his biological daughter, he couldn't be ruthless immediately.
After all, she was innocent in this matter; the one at fault was Elara.
Aaron threw a divorce agreement in front of her. "Sign it! Once Saffron gets better, I'll send you both out of the country. I don't want to see either of you again."
Elara trembled with fear. "No, no, honey. Honey, I know I was wrong. Please forgive me, honey." She cried pitifully.
"Forgive you? You made me raise another man's daughter for over twenty years, and you expect me to forgive you? It's a miracle I haven't killed you!"
Aaron just wanted to kick her again. The thought of her being touched by another man made him sick.
"Hurry up and sign it!"
"I won't sign!" Elara shook her head vigorously. If she signed, she wouldn't get a single cent.
"Honey, give me another chance. I won't dare anymore. I'll listen to you from now on, do whatever you say, and won't go against Juniper, okay?"
"Juniper, please help me beg your dad. I really know I was wrong. I won't dare to do it again. As long as you don't kick me out of the Cooper Villa, I'll do anything you want, Juniper..."
"If you could admit your mistake, you wouldn't have been wrong for twenty years. It's too fake to realize your mistake only after being caught," Juniper said coldly. "You're just reluctant to give up the money and your current lifestyle."
"Divorce is already the greatest mercy my dad can show you. Continuing to pester is useless."
The two left, leaving Elara crying her heart out.
Aaron also felt terrible.
After all these years, he had feelings for Elara. He never expected to be deceived for so long. It was hard to bear both in terms of pride and emotions.
"Dad, I'm sorry. Should I not have told you?" Juniper felt bad seeing him like this.
Aaron shook his head. "No, you did the right thing. Otherwise, I would have continued to be deceived by Elara. I just feel guilty for hurting you and your mom because of a woman like her. I..."
"Let's not talk about the past."
"Juniper, can you not tell Saffron about this? It's her bad luck to have a mother like that. She's innocent in this matter. And she's not inherently bad; she was just raised that way by Elara. You can't choose your parents."
"I know, I won't tell her. Don't worry."
"I'll give them a million dollars and send them out of the country. Consider it the last bit of affection for raising her as my daughter for so many years."
"They're so extravagant and wasteful. A million dollars will be gone in a day or two."
"That's not my concern anymore. Let them fend for themselves. I've fulfilled my responsibility, and that's the end of it. From now on, they have nothing to do with me. Even if they end up homeless and starving, it has nothing to do with me."
Juniper was silent. Although her dad spoke resolutely and was undoubtedly completely disappointed and resentful towards Elara, he might still have a bit of reluctance towards Saffron.
So when it came to actually doing it, he might still soften.
The future would take care of itself. After all these ups and downs, she understood the value of loyalty even more. The most important thing was to live each day well and cherish family and loved ones.
