Chapter 550: Old Woman

May stormed back home, feeling like a hot mess.

She crashed right into Oliver, sending him sprawling.

"Why the heck are you tearing around like that?" May snapped at Oliver, her voice sharp.

"Sorry, Auntie May," Oliver mumbled, looking all kinds of hurt but mostly scared of May's glare.

"Running around like a headless chicken?" May shot him a furious look.

"May, chill out! Why you gotta be so harsh?" Susan rushed over to help her son up. She'd seen the whole thing and knew it was May who'd barreled into Oliver. If May wasn't her sister, she'd have given her a piece of her mind.

"He was tearing around the house, and I can't say anything?" May redirected her anger at Susan.

"He's just a kid; what does he know?"

"Wasn't he a little genius before? Now he messes up, and he's just a kid? Susan, you're being a total hypocrite. No matter what your son does, it's always right, huh?"

Susan felt a pang of discomfort. If May was just being mean to her, she could brush it off. But being mean to her son? That was crossing the line. Moms are fierce when it comes to their kids.

The current May reminded her of the old May, always flying off the handle before she started dating Tyler.

"May, if you're pissed, don't take it out on the kid."

"What are you saying? That I'm taking it out on your son? Susan, even if you wanna protect your kid, you can't twist things like this. He bumped into me, so I scolded him a bit. Does that make me some evil witch in your eyes?"

"That's not what I meant. I just think..."
"That's exactly what you meant. You think having a kid makes you special. Your precious boy sees me as the villain."

"What's your deal? No need to blow a gasket," Susan's tone turned icy. She'd been biting her tongue, but May was pushing her buttons.

"Nothing's wrong with me. Just calling it like I see it. Keep spoiling him, and you'll regret it sooner or later!" May snapped and stomped upstairs.

Oliver shrank back, looking scared, "Mommy, Auntie May is so mean. I'm scared."

"Don't worry, sweetie. May's just got a sharp tongue but she doesn't mean any harm, okay?" Susan knelt down to comfort her son, "Let Grandma take you for a bath first. Mommy will come to you later."

"Okay."

Susan grabbed a bowl of chicken soup and headed upstairs to find May.

She knocked on the door, "May, May?"

"I'm sleeping," May's irritated voice came through.

"I'm coming in."

May had trashed the room and glared at Susan, "Didn't I say I was sleeping?"

Susan looked at the mess, surprised, "Why are you so mad? Did you have a fight with Tyler?"

May thought, 'Isn't this because of you all?'

Coldly, she said, "What? Are you hoping we had a fight?"

"Of course not. You two are getting married soon. I genuinely want the best for you," Susan reminded herself that women in a bad mood after a fight with their boyfriends shouldn't be taken too seriously. Just ride it out, and it'll pass.

"Marriage? Not happening!"

Susan realized how serious things were, "Did you have such a big fight that it might mess up the wedding?"

"Why are you so concerned about whether we get married?"
May's mind raced, 'Does Susan know Tyler's true nature and want to push me into a living hell? If so, she's downright evil! I trusted her like a fool.'

"You always said you were getting married. If you suddenly don't, of course, I'm worried. Isn't Tyler a good guy? What did he do to make you so mad?"

May wanted to spill the beans about Tyler, but if she did, the wedding would be off. She hadn't made up her mind yet, and it was driving her nuts. "That's between him and me. Stay out of it."

"But you're so angry. I'm worried about you. Aren't we family? Can't you talk to me about it?"

"I don't want to talk. Get out."

"But..."

"I said I don't want to talk. Don't make me curse."

"Fine, I'll leave. I'll leave the chicken soup here. Remember to drink it," Susan said and quietly left the room.

The next night, around eleven, May's phone rang. It was Tyler.

"Is this May?" A strange man's voice asked.

"Who are you?" May frowned.

"I'm Tyler's colleague. Tyler drank too much. I saw your missed call earlier and thought you might be his girlfriend. Am I right?"

"What's the matter?" May asked, annoyed.

"Tyler is drunk. We're at Whiskey Haven Bar. Come pick him up, quick!"

Before she could refuse, the call ended.

May reluctantly got up, threw on some makeup, and headed over.

A well-dressed man in his thirties was helping a drunk Tyler at the bar entrance.

"You're Tyler's girlfriend?" The man looked her up and down.

'What kind of look was that? Did he think I wasn't good enough for Tyler?' May thought, feeling irritated. "Yeah, I am."
"Then I'll leave him to you. I'm heading out," the man handed Tyler over and muttered as he walked away, "I thought he found some top beauty. She looks so average. No wonder he doesn't want to show her off."

"You..." May was fuming. She even put on makeup for this.

Looking at the drunken Tyler, she wanted to kick him.

She had no choice but to drag Tyler to the nearest hotel.

"You're so heavy. Stop squirming," May struggled to support Tyler.

"Keep drinking," Tyler slurred, "Come on! Don't stop until we're wasted!... Fuck, where is everyone? Where the hell is everyone?"

Tyler's drunken state was a far cry from his usual polished banker self. He was swearing and cursing. May almost didn't recognize him.

"Huh? Are you the hooker here?" Tyler squinted at May, "Fuck, they got me an old woman."

Hearing this, May immediately shoved Tyler onto the bed in anger.

Old woman? He despised her that much?

May wanted to leave him there and go, but at the door, she couldn't help but turn back, dampened a towel, and wiped Tyler's face.

Tyler's tie was already loosened, making him look a bit disheveled. He stared at her in a daze, "You... May? Why is it you?"

"Who else would take care of you? Your drinking buddies?"

Taking advantage of his drunken state, May vented her long-held frustrations, sarcastically saying, "You're a liar. You act like a gentleman, but you're no different from those womanizers. Every day you lie about working late while you're out partying. How shameless can you be?"

"I didn't lie to you. May, what are you talking about? I was just drinking. Isn't it normal for men to socialize and have fun? Don't play the innocent."

"You say I'm playing the innocent?" May got even angrier.
