Chapter 349 Not Saying No

After Layla roared like a lioness, there was a brief silence.

Only the sound of the man's breathing could be heard.

"Go to sleep. Good night," he said.

'Was I too fierce? No, he was just annoying,' Layla thought gloomily.

However, it was uncomfortable to sleep in her underwear, so she couldn't sleep at all.

She endured it for a while, waited until the man's breathing became steady, then quietly reached behind her. She untied it, pulled off the shoulder strap, and threw it on the ground, all in one go.

She let out a heavy sigh.

'What a relief. I’m much more comfortable now,' she thought.

At this moment, the man's laughter came from behind her. "Didn't you say you wouldn't take it off?"

Layla felt like a thief who had been caught. Her embarrassment instantly turned into anger. "Damn it, you were pretending to sleep."

"You taught me well," Samuel said.

Layla regretted it and was left speechless again.

In the morning, Layla entered the company, only to see her office desk in a mess. Even the drawers had been pried open and turned upside down.

Several people sneered at her maliciously while pretending they weren’t involved.

But obviously, they had all been involved.

Layla walked over and slammed her bag on the desk.

"Who are you venting your anger on so early in the morning?" Cassandra was the first to speak up sarcastically.

"Exactly. Are you treating us like punching bags?"

"Mind your attitude."

Layla thought of a phrase and retorted, "My attitude depends on yours."

"How dare you insult us? What do you mean?"

"Do you still have the nerve to insult us?"

Layla tidied up the desk. "Touch my things again, and I'll call the police."

"Who touched your things?"

"Did you see us do it?"

"Do you have any evidence?"

"Stop falsely accusing people."

Each of them denied it excitedly.

"It's meaningless for you to deny what you’ve done." Layla's attitude was much firmer than before. "I hate people who play tricks. It’s childish, stupid, and ridiculous. Have you lived a meaningless life all these years?"

Cassandra stepped forward. "How dare you insult me?"

"Did you mess up my desk?" Layla retorted.

"Why, you..."

Someone pulled Cassandra back. "There’s no need to argue with her. Weren't you supposed to give her Leonard's project data?"

At this reminder, Cassandra casually threw a bunch of messy files onto Layla's desk. "Besides yesterday and today, you have four days left. If you can't handle it, prepare to leave the company."

Layla frowned at the messy files and thought it was a pile of rubbish.

"Organize it and then give it to me," Layla said.

"I won't do it!" Cassandra crossed her arms, looking unpleasant. "Since you're so capable, why don't you organize it yourself?"

"Exactly. Cassandra is not your assistant. Why should she do it?"

"Don’t you have hands or brains of your own?"

At this moment, Levi walked over and said, "Cassandra, Layla hasn't dealt with this project before. You're more familiar with it. How can she understand it if you pile it up like this? Organize it and then give it to her."

"Levi, I'm just following Fanny's orders. You don't need to meddle."

Cassandra muttered under her breath, "You can't even take care of yourself, and you're trying to play the hero."

Levi was being confronted by a subordinate for the first time. He glared at her. "Cassandra, what's with your attitude?"

"Levi, Cassandra is just speaking the truth. The data is all here, and whether she can handle it or not depends on her abilities. There were also some unclear points when it was handed over to us before. Didn't we have to figure it out ourselves back then? Why does she get special treatment now?"

"Exactly. Levi, we had no complaints in the past since you were willing to take care of her. But right now, it seems like you can't even take care of yourself, so don't stick your nose in. Otherwise, you'll be in trouble when Fanny blames you later too."

Levi almost choked in indignation, pointing fiercely at their faces. "You’ve all benefited from the fruits of my labor. Don’t you remember that I founded this company? How dare you treat me like this?"

"Levi, we mean no harm. We’re just being honest. It's for your own good too."

"We are just employees following orders from our superiors, there’s nothing wrong with that, right?"

"I am still the manager," Levi emphasized. Even though he couldn’t control Fanny, he refused to endure the insolence of a few subordinates.

"We didn't say you weren’t. But since this is the CEO's command, the CEO’s authority should be paramount over the manager's."

"We need to obey the CEO, of course."

"Times have changed, Levi. Please refrain from interfering unnecessarily."

Levi was so angry that his face was twitching. He remembered their faces. He swore that when he took back the company one day, the first thing he would do was to fire all of them!

"Levi, do you think you're still the president? Consider your position. You're nothing, and you still want to help her?" Fanny walked in with a sarcastic smile.

"Fanny."

"Good morning, Fanny." Everyone greeted her respectfully, trying to please her.

"You're trying to play the hero too? Are you qualified to do so?" Fanny sneered.

"Mind your language, Fanny. Those insinuations about Layla and me are unfounded. I just cannot tolerate your mistreatment of colleagues," Levi retorted.

"Don't pretend to be righteous. Aren't you just feeling sorry that your new lover is being bullied so you’re standing up for her?"

"You're talking nonsense!" Levi said.

"Everyone in the company knows what kind of person you are and the messy things you've been up to all these years. Do I have to expose them for you? You were with a female college student last year."

Levi interrupted, "Fanny, stop it."

Fanny's face turned cold. "Why are you telling me to stop? I'm the president! If you don't want to work, get out, or go wherever you like. Don't worry. It'll be your turn soon."

"You..."

"Levi, forget it, I'll organize the files myself." Layla was getting a headache from their argument.

"You're so considerate of each other. Don't worry, I'll make your 'true love' come true, and then you two can leave together."

Levi left dissatisfied, muttering under his breath.

"Fanny, I've already given all the data to Layla." Cassandra rushed to show off. If she gave Layla trouble in front of Fanny, she might leave a good impression on her, so she spared no effort to do that.

Fanny glanced at the messy data. "You have four days left. If you can't get the contract signed, you won't get paid."

Layla remained silent and sat down to organize the files. Her colleagues would occasionally come over to make snide remarks, but she pretended not to hear, ignored them, and focused on organizing the files.

Cassandra had deliberately messed up the data, leaving some parts missing. Layle didn't want to ask her about it, so she had to look up the information herself and felt extremely frustrated all morning.

Layle munching on some bread and finally finished organizing the data by 1:30 PM and hurried to Quantum Crescendo Ltd.
