Chapter 345 Collective Harassment

Fanny was very satisfied with this suggestion and smiled sinisterly. "Leave Leonard to her."

Layla wanted to sneer, as they were working together to push her into a pit of fire.

"Layla, I'll give you a chance. If you can't close the deal within a week, get lost. You’ll get no salary at all."

"And what if I do close the deal?" Layla retorted.

"Then you'll have to rely on selling yourself," someone said sarcastically.

"If you close the deal, I'll pay you the salary."

"What if you back out?" Layla didn't trust Fanny's words, so she had to make her promise publicly.

"I am the president of Brightness Design Company now. How could I back out? Close the deal first."

"It's a deal." Layla remained calm. She knew it was difficult, but there was always a way to do it. After all, she could handle this group of monsters.

Levi moved to Fanny's original workstation, looking unhappy. No one paid him any attention.

Others rushed to help Fanny move her things.

"Fanny, you go sit down. You must be tired from standing."

"Yes, we'll take care of it."

"Fanny, are you thirsty? Shall I make you some coffee?"

Fanny sat with her legs crossed on the sofa, looking smug as if she were a pampered emperor.

"Layla, you go make coffee for Fanny."

Layla was drawing and didn't respond.

"Are you deaf?" Evelyn shouted.

"Would you dare to drink the coffee I make?" said Layla.

"What? Are you trying to poison me in the office?" scoffed Fanny.

"Are you sure?" Layla gave Fanny a cold look, intimidating her, and tightened her grip on the sofa.

'Is that despicable woman really up to something? Well, drinking her coffee might give me hemorrhoids,' she thought.

"Levi, you go."

"I don't want to." Levi didn't even look up, sounding gloomy.

"If I tell you to go, you have to go." Fanny's eyes widened.

"Damn woman. You bully people with power and rely on others." Levi gritted his teeth, and had to swallow his anger and walk toward the pantry, like a henpecked husband.

Soon, he came out with coffee. Fanny took a sip and cursed, "What kind of crap did you brew? Is this even fit for human consumption?"

"I’ve never made coffee before. Wasn't it you who always made it for me?"

"Yeah, you were filled with malice, weren't you?"

Fanny would never forget how Levi had treated her like a dog and kicked her out of the office.

There had been a business relationship between them, but she had also genuinely cared for this man, even if it was not much, but he had treated her very badly. He had let her age to thirty without marriage, then kicked her out. Men were all dogs!

She wouldn't let this dog off the hook!

"I..." Levi was full of anger but didn't dare to retort.

He had learned his lesson. Nothing and no one could help him now. If he hadn't sold his shares for money, he would still be serving comfortably as the president, and wouldn’t be in such a miserable state.

But then again, who wouldn't sell their shares in that situation?

"Go, brew it again!"

"I'm a manager too."

"I'm the president. Do you dare disobey my orders? If you don't learn to make coffee today, you're out too."

Levi left angrily.

Evelyn chuckled and whispered, "You're really enjoying this, Fanny. You have a real presidential air. You’re so cool and awesome!"

Fanny gave her a cold look. "Who said you could speak? Move the stuff."

Evelyn nodded obediently and left.

Fanny glared at Layla, who was drawing calmly. Fanny thought she was pretending to be innocent again. The last time she was kicked out, she had the same calm demeanor while drawing. How pretentious!

Fanny vowed to tear off her mask and see her in a panic.

During lunch break, a few female colleagues gathered in the corridor for a small meeting.

"Do you think we'll get fired today?"

"What are you afraid of? Layla wasn't fired, so why would we be?"

"That makes sense, but maybe Fanny kept her to torment her, and we're the ones who’ll be kicked out."

"So we need to find a way to protect ourselves."

"What do you mean?"

"We need to work hard to target Layla, of course."

"But you used to flatter her so much."

"What are you saying? Don't talk nonsense." Cassandra denied it vehemently.

"Oh, what's the use of denying it? You were the most enthusiastic flatterer. You were so eager to please her before, and now you're targeting her. Aren’t you being heartless?"

Cassandra rolled her eyes as if she had heard a joke. "Huh, I have no feelings for her. I only flattered her before because I had no choice but to do so under the circumstances. But I truly dislike her. She acts all high and mighty, but she’s so fake and looks down on us.

"I don’t have any relationship with her. Even if I did, work is more important than relationships. Anyway, I’m going to target her. You guys do as you please."

The group exchanged glances. "Well, we have no choice."

"She won't be able to close Leonard's deal, right?"

"Maybe not. Leonard is lecherous, and Layla is an expert in that area. Maybe they'll hit it off, and she'll close it immediately. Wasn’t she in a Rolls-Royce yesterday? She must have hooked up with a rich guy."

"Yeah, he must be a scumbag, or why would she be in such a hurry to keep us from seeing him?"

"Do you think her boyfriend knows her true personality?"

"He definitely doesn't know. She looks so innocent, right?"

"Can someone get her boyfriend's Facebook? Let's tear off her mask."

"I have a way to do it."

After work, they gathered to target at Layla again.

"Layla, do this report for me."

"And I haven't finished this data. Do it as well."

"And help me with my materials."

Before Fanny could intervene, the others had already dumped a bunch of work on Layla.

Layla ignored the pile of files on the table that was as high as a small mountain and the sarcastic smiles of the others. She indifferently said, "You do it yourselves."

"What do you mean?"

"I’m being very clear. You do your own work. I'm not your assistant." Layla picked up her bag and started packing.

"Why don't you work more quickly? Are you still acting all high and mighty?"

"Yeah. Aren't you afraid of being fired?"

"If you work harder, maybe Fanny will show you mercy and let you stay."

"Don't you know what's good for you? When we ask you to do something, we're doing it for your good."

"No need. Keep it for yourselves." Layla had packed up and was ready to leave.

"Stop right there!" Fanny came out, her loyal subordinates all showing eager anticipation.

Layla felt like she was being surrounded by a pack of hunting dogs.

"The work isn't finished, but you want to leave? Layla, what do you think Brightness Design Company is?"

"I've already completed my work," Layla said firmly.

"These tasks aren't done yet," Fanny insisted.

"Those are their tasks. You can ask them to stay," Layla said.

"I said, if these tasks are assigned to you, you do them." Fanny tapped the files, each word pronounced forcefully and uncompromisingly, leaving no room for negotiation.
