Chapter 720 Stubbornness

Anthony's heart was aching, no doubt about it.

Juniper's eyes went dark, unable to handle the sadness in his. She wasn't sure if he expected anything from her, but she knew one thing for sure: she had to end it.

From the start, there shouldn't have been anything between them.

Juniper said, "I'm just stating the facts."

Yeah, right.

The tension was thick enough to cut with a knife.

Even a guy as chill and generous as Anthony could have his bad days. Juniper just didn't realize that she was the one who could mess with his emotions the most.

The one who could hurt him was often the one doing the hurting, and it was brutal.

Juniper said, "Mr. Eilish, I'm heading back to my room to keep reviewing the contract. If there are any issues, we can video call."

Did she really have to dodge him like that?

Anthony scoffed, "Is this fun for you? Dodging what's right in front of you."

"I think it's inappropriate for us to be in the same room; it's necessary to avoid suspicion."

"For Ronnie?" Anthony sneered.

"Yeah, he's my boyfriend. I don't want him to get the wrong idea about us. Goodbye, Mr. Eilish." Juniper couldn't stay another second, turned around, grabbed the contract, and bolted.

Anthony kept his eyes on her back, hoping she'd pause for even a second. He'd definitely go up and grab her hand, telling her he had nothing to do with Hera.

But she didn't stop, not for a second, walking away without looking back, like she was running from some monster.

Today's vibe was a total 180 from last night's. Anthony felt like he had fallen from the clouds into a pit.

How was he supposed to fix this mess between them?

Juniper got back to her room, slamming her fist on the table as she put down the contract.

She had half a mind to hop in a car and quit right then and there.

Ronnie's words stung: Did she want to become a homewrecker like Elara?

Love was no excuse; being a homewrecker was just plain despicable.

Meanwhile, over in Ronnie's world, things were stormy.

In the president's office of the Woods Group, it was practically a hurricane.

"Damn it!" Ronnie was fuming, grabbing a vase worth over a million bucks and smashing it to the ground.

There was a loud crash.

"Mr. Woods, what's wrong?" The secretary rushed in, seeing the shattered vase on the floor.

The secretary thought, 'Boss, even if you have money, you can't be so reckless. This is something you just bought at a high price from an auction last week. Didn't you say you liked it a lot?'

"Who let you in? Get out!" Ronnie roared.

"Mr. Woods, I heard a noise and was worried about you..."

Ronnie shouted, "Worried about what? You think I'm gonna off myself? Get out!"

"Okay." The secretary quickly slipped away.

Ronnie paced back and forth in the office like an enraged leopard.

He was burning with rage.

"Juniper, how dare you... Do you think you can stomp on my heart just because I like you? Who do you think you are? What's so great about you? Do you think I can't live without you?" Ronnie sneered disdainfully, but his anger kept rising, the more he spoke, the angrier he got. "Do you think you're the only woman in the city? I won't die without you! Fine! You find a man, and I'll find a woman tonight!"

Ronnie, fueled by spite, whipped out his phone and said, "Let's hit the town tonight."

"Well, if it isn't Mr. Woods! What's the game plan? Chasing women?"

Ronnie snapped, "No shit! What else? You?"

"Thought you were all loved up, turning over a new leaf. What happened? Got dumped? She didn't even like you, huh? Ignoring you?"

"Why the hell do you talk so much? Want to die?" Ronnie smashed another vase.

"Just kidding, man. No need to blow a fuse. Fine, I'll set it up. I'll get you the hottest women in the city!"

Ronnie thought bitterly, 'Juniper, tonight I'll find a woman a hundred times hotter than you!'

That night at the bar.

The manager greeted Ronnie with a fake smile, "Mr. Woods, long time no see. Thought you were getting hitched. Right this way. Mr. Hopper has everything set up for you tonight. You'll be pleased."

Ronnie was in a foul mood, but he forced himself to move forward.

"Please come in!" The manager opened the door.

"Good evening, Mr. Woods!" A chorus of female voices, dripping with flattery, greeted him.

A bunch of women with long hair, spaghetti strap dresses, and heavy makeup, reeking of perfume, so strong it was nauseating.

Ronnie frowned, immediately wanting to bolt.

It was like someone used to a light diet suddenly faced with a table full of greasy food. Not only did he not want to eat, but it was so gross he felt like puking, with zero appetite.

Ronnie thought, 'But if I leave now, won't I be losing to Juniper? Juniper, you look down on me, but plenty of women are dying to please me.'

"Ronnie, did I do good or what? So many beautiful women. Take your pick. If you can't choose, have them all!" Louie Hopper said, pulling out a box of cash, and the women's eyes lit up with greed. "Here's half a million dollars. Today, our Mr. Woods is in a bad mood. Whoever can make Mr. Woods happy gets this box of money!"

These women already wanted to latch onto Ronnie, and with the added lure of cash, they pounced on him.

"Mr. Woods, why the long face? I'll cheer you up."

"I'm the best at making men feel good."

"Move over."

"No, you move."

"Mr. Woods, ignore them. I'm the gentlest."

They pushed and shoved, desperate to get close to Ronnie.

Louie watched, grinning.

Ronnie wanted them all to scram, his face stern, sitting on the sofa.

"Mr. Woods, want some fruit? I'll feed you with my mouth, okay?"

"Don't be gross. Mr. Woods, have a drink."

"Mr. Woods, let me massage your legs." It was supposed to be a leg massage, but she was touching his inner thigh.

"Who pissed you off? I'll deal with them."

"Our Mr. Woods got dumped, no, she didn't even like him." Louie teased. Even though they were friends, seeing Ronnie so frustrated made him feel good.

"Is that woman blind?"

"I think she did it on purpose. How could anyone dump our Mr. Woods?"

"Exactly, such a low move. Mr. Woods, how could you fall for such a woman?"

"Mr. Woods, that woman is a scheming witch, not worth your anger."

Ronnie's eyebrows immediately furrowed. "Want me to rip your mouth apart?"

No matter how pissed he was at Juniper, he wouldn't let these people badmouth her.
